OK, so take the negative reviews with a grain of salt. I just finished my move with Royal Movers, and despite a few hiccups, it was a great service. In long distance moves, the same company is not handling the entire thing. Royal Movers packs up your stuff, and then a freight truck is chosen to transport the goods based on a variety of factors. Most of the time the truck moving your goods is not affiliated with the initial moving company. They are contracted. Moving across the country is no simple endeavor, but Royal Moving makes every effort to make it a pleasant process.Word of advice: You must give them exact inventory for the move if you don't want to get additional charges. Down to the exact pieces of furniture, number of boxes and their size, etc. It's not fun, but they get charged by the freight truck by square foot, so it needs to be exact. I thought I did a decent job, but still went over by a bit and was upcharged $280 on the day of the move. This was MY fault, not the company's. Take a final count of everything the day before the move and let Royal know, and you won't incur additional fees. The truck got to me 6 days after the initial move, fairly quickly all things considered. When everything was moved in, one of my desks was broken. They paid for it. I also thought something was missing and called Owen, the owner, at 10:00pm on a Sunday, and he answered. Pretty much unheard of in business today. He cares about making sure the move goes well. (I ended up finding the lost item as well, btw). The individuals moving me were quick and courteous as well. Packed everything with care, and with the exception of my desk (which in fairness was made of a composite poly-wood, not exactly the most sturdy of materials), everything arrived in the condition in which it left.If I had to do it over, I'd go with Royal movers again. I don't doubt the individuals with negative reviews here had a negative experience, but just know it's not the norm. I highly recommend them!

Never Go for this moving company..I got disturbed both the time at the time of pick up and delivery after paying more money what in contract. Be careful and get it written everything in contract instead verbal, oh sorry to say that they are lie to me after finalizing the contract. Simple suggestion: Never go for Royal moving and storage. They used small truck to pickup inventory and at the time of delivery they used 18 wheeler truck to ask for more moneyVery very bad experience with this moving company. Things are broken away and they are throwing the inventory instead of packing, they don't even care about fragile item

Price was very good for a move from rural Louisiana to urban Indiana. Though the move was of 950 miles, I tried to be as flexible as possible with our moving date with the hope of getting a better deal. I gave them a 10-day window for pickup, drove down, and waited for their arrival. You get an estimate based on the items you're planning to move. I was moving items from my deceased mother's house (in which I'd never lived), so I named the items I could. I was told that I could add and subract items easily at the rate of $3.25/cubic foot. After movers arrived, I had to make quick decisions to remove two very large furniture items (one was maybe 75 cubic feet, the other about 90 cubic feet; one I decided against after the movers couldn't figure out how to take them apart with the tools they had [though it had clear instructions on the back] so it wouldn't be able to be moved to where I wanted it, the other I decided against after realizing that it wouldn't work in our house), and decided to replace them with about 90 cubic feet of items. Even with removing the two large items, that raised the shipping rate by $487.50 + $199 fuel surcharge. When I asked the head of the moving guys why, as those items did not add that much space, he said it was because the items I'd gotten the estimate for were larger than standard, so with the addition of items, they had to add the extra square footage of those original items in the estimate. I can maybe understand (maybe), though I didn't see the reason for the fuel surcharge. Just saying. The movers on both ends of the project were efficient, friendly, and VERY hard working. (Don't forget to tip both sets of movers!) Overall condition on delivery was not as good as I'd hoped. A couple of sturdy moving boxes that were well packed by us (we are experienced packers), but not insured either by the movers or by our additional insurance because the movers hadn't packed them, arrived with all corners rounded and tops flattened. Estimated damage to insured furniture (not including the boxes of items that we'd packed) was over $1000. The table had a large gouge in it. A dining room chair was crushed. Another was scratched and almost separated into two pieces. Two pieces of a very large carved headboard were broken off when packing, and because the mover packed the pieces separately, when the headboard arrived it was not considered having broken in the move, thus I was told by the insurance company that it was not covered. The base of a hand carved antique sofa was cracked, which we didn't notice until about a week later, therefore it wasn't covered by the insurance. Many wooden pieces ended up with paint scuffs and corners rubbed. The moving company's "free" insurance, if I recall, is the amount required by law, which covers $0.60/lb for damaged items; not very helpful if you've got nice items. I purchased, at a cost of about $350, separate moving insurance from the company recommended on the Royal Moving & Storage website, which due to my inability to pull myself out of mourning to crawl over the furniture crammed in every nook and cranny in my house and look at each piece within 48 hours, only offered $40 for the damage to the furniture (after my $500 deductible). However, when I contacted Royal Moving & Storage about it, they were very willing and quick to help cover the damage beyond the deductible that was not covered by the insurance company.Would I use them again? I would definitely use Royal Moving & Storage again if I were paying for my own move. But know that if you use the separate company MovingInsurance to insure, that you need to mark every damaged item on arrival (which sounds easy enough until you've got two movers speeding in and out of the house hauling furniture on their backs, yelling out numbers as they do so you can checkmark the items that have arrived, and you need to go down and inspect each one carefully while they're still running in and out, yelling out numbers, so that you can mark items as damaged on the inventory list. And don't forget to let them know within 48 hours about all damage you might not notice right away.

I could go on forever how bad this company is but I'll try and make it short and concise.Movers arrived late, filled the truck and then presented me with TWICE the estimate claiming I had much more merchandise (I didn't)  I had no choice but to agree to this extortion as I had to be out of my property and all my furniture, etc were already in the truck.I moved from Austin to Denver, so with the company located in Dallas, they go back to Dallas from Austin, fill the truck with other peoples items and then go to Denver.I drove to Denver and three days later received a call stating the truck would arrive the following day from 4-6 p.m. and they would call before arriving.  I waited that day until 5:45 since I never heard from them and and contacted the person who called me the day before.  This person was one of the movers on the truck, was totally rude and unprofessiona and stated they would to be bringing my furniture that day.  I asked why no one contacted and he started yelling and told me that they would be there the following morning between 6 and 8 a.m.!!!!  I told him that was unacceptable and he hung up.I contacted "Owen" the manager and explained the situation.  He apologized and stated they had overbooked and he actually found me a hotel for the night, he was cooperative and tried to make amends.I stayed in the hotel that night and the following morning at 6 a.m. I received a call from the mover/driver who stated he was at my apartment and wanted to know where I was. I told him I was at the hotel and would not be available until 10 a.m.  He was again became very agitated and stated if I wasn't there in 20 minutes would "throw your shit" in the street!!!!I contacted Owen again who contacted the driver and once again mediated the situation.I met the movers at 10 a.m. (they had a WHOLE LOT of attitude) brought my property in and I found 8 pieces of my expensive art (which THEY packed for extra change) broken (frames and glass) boxes crushed, boxes missing and other people's property left behind!!!  At least 50% of my property was destroyed or damaged!!!  Once again, it was not possible to withhold final payment (in cash only) as they demanded it before unloading the truck.I contacted Owen and he asked that I not file an insurance claim as their rates would go up and I agreed.  After hauling my art across town to get an estimate for repair (approximately $2000), I contacted Owen once again and he stated that  the company could not pay that and to file a claim (my art was left at the frame shop and I had to go back and pick it up again as the claim can take up to 90 days)This company is unethical, unprofessional and is truly defrauding people.  Other than my insurance claim I will be filing a fraud complaint with the appropriate authorities.

I haven't used them as a mover yet, but they CALL ME NONSTOP! They hang up half the time they call but it's still INCREDIBLY annoying. I made the mistake of allowing bids to move my car, just for market research. They call and email me every day (someone named Samantha).  I have told her on the phone 3 times not to call me, but I will call her when I have my date and other details ready. Nope. Every single day for a month. If a company is this rude and disrespectful to their customers, do you really think I will trust you with my property?
