Across USA Moving & Storage

I used Across USA Moving & Storage to move from Dallas to Chicago in August of 2013.  On the day of my move the entire team was quick, professional and made the whole process of preparing for a cross-country move  stress free.  When I got to Chicago the truck arrived on time and the two movers were able to get everything into my place in just a few hours.  I was very worried that a lot of my fragile items might have been broken in transit, but to my surprise after opening all of my boxes only one picture frame had shattered.  Out of over 20 frames, ceramic and glass decorative pieces and dishes only 1 item was broken.  I could not have been happier with the level of service that I received from Across USA.  A little more than one year later I am moving again in need of services.  I contacted Across USA to see if I could use them again for a move within the Chicago area.  They are not able to assist me in Chicago but the fact is that I loved the service so much that they were the first company I thought of when I knew that I would have to move.  I only hope that the company that I use provides me with the same amazing service that I got from Across USA.

Luckily I only had to negotiate with them.  Why I am writing the review is on that alone.First, the guy was really pushy with all the sleazy tactics - sign up now before the call ends to get 10% off, etc.  Then when I politely said no because of their C rating with BBB, he still pushed. So I indicated - "I said no. Please respect that. This isn't helping your reputation."  To which he continued to argue and started talking about his MBA and how great he was.  Finally, I ended things by saying - "OK you win, I am taking this football and going home, and posting our dialog on Yelp" - which now you all have. Have a great day and dodge these bozos like the plague they are and I hope they grow a brain along with a conscious - arguing with no leverage over a lost deal - would love to know where he got his MBA - His professors (and parents) must be so proud. Lol.

I would give this company a negative five stars if I could!!!I moved from Illinois to California on November 30, 2015, and selected Across USA Moving and Storage because I received the best customer service (Randy) in the beginning--follow up calls, check-in before the move, and confirmation that the movers were going to be there. While I write this review, please note that I am still waiting on a follow up call regarding my claim.  Reasons why I WOULD NEVER EVER SUGGEST that anyone uses this company:1. I moved from a one bedroom apartment and it took the movers (2 of them) 9 hours to pack up my apartment. They arrived between 2pm and 4pm in the afternoon and left my one bedroom apartment at 11:30pm on November 30th. I called the CEO (Jerry) to request another person to help the two young men to help pack up my apartment because it should not have taken them that long to pack up my apartment. The third gentleman arrived, but it still took all three of them until 11:30pm to get my items out.2. One of the movers took a poop in my bathroom during the move and caused the place to smell horribly.3. One of the movers complained about not having enough help with loading my items onto the truck. My move was nothing out of the ordinary for a typical one bedroom apartment (e.g., queen size bed, dresser, nightstand, two tall bookshelves, small kitchen table, couch, oversize chair, 30+ boxes, etc.). Nothing major well for this moving company it was major.4. Once my items were delivered I did not receive a follow up call regarding my items or the service I received throughout the move. 5. My items were delivered the day before Christmas (December 24, 2015) and the young men who delivered my belongings said, and I quote "The way your items came to us was in bad shape. I wouldn't recommend them to anyone ever again. I'm sorry." 6. Several boxes had water damage.7. My bed has a permanent bend it from the way it was stored and shipped.8. I called Across USA Moving and Storage everyday from the time my items were delivered on December 24, 2015 to receive the instructions on how to file a claim. I did not get the instructions on how to file a claim until January 18, 2016. Bonnie finally got my information to the "appropriate office," not sure why it took so long, but it's definitely indicative of the poor service I received from the time the young men came to pick up my items in Chicago.Recommendation: DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY

1. Damage of night stand. During the pickup on 16 June in Katy, TX, the guys have broken one of my nightstand on the leg and the whole night stand has to be abandoned. The night stand with a value of US$250.2. Over charge. I got a firm quotation with the amount of $1216.14 with a whole volume of 308 cf. However, there is nothing more than the items listed in the contract and with one abandoned night stand, there is an increase of 75 cf which lead to an additional cost of $330. I can't agree with this increase and if that is the price, I have selected other mover.3. Late delivery. on the pick up date, I have informed them that I am ready for delivery on the second day. However, the delivery is on 8 July, while their committed delivery date is 7-14 days when the delivery is ready. the family have to sleep on the floor within the weeks

All in all, I had a GREAT experience with Across USA Moving. The 3 movers worked very diligently in helping to package move my stuff from Uptown Dallas to Los Angeles.  The distance from my apartment at the Gables Villa Rosa to the van was not close, but I thought they worked very efficiently in making it a smooth process. They worked almost straight for pretty much the entire day until the job was done. As far as the pricing, I thought it was extremely fair considering how much man labor was put in.  My boxes were recieved in a timely manner. I told them to put it on hold for a period of time until I was able to recieve them.  They were very patient and flexible with me and my unique situation. I personally would HIGHLY recommend them!
