History

Established in 1985. Two Men and a Truck® started in the early 1980s as a way for two brothers to make extra money while they were in high school. Now, more than 30 years later, the company has grown to over 330 locations worldwide. Brothers Brig Sorber and Jon Sorber started moving people in the Lansing, Mich., area using an old pickup truck. Their mom, Mary Ellen Sheets, developed a logo to put in a weekly community newspaper. That stickmen logo still rests on every truck, sign, and advertisement three decades later.After the brothers left for college, Sheets continued to field calls for moving services while she also worked a full-time data processing job with the State of Michigan. In 1985, she decided to make things official by purchasing a 14-foot truck for $350 and hiring a pair of movers. That $350 is the only capital Sheets has ever invested in the company.

Moving is no fun. Ever. Ever. Ever.However, when you throw a professional moving company into the mix, it certainly makes the experience a bit less painful. Because Two Men & A Truck moved our stuff across town politely and efficiently, I have to give them due props. Price wise, I found Two Men & A Truck to be considerably less that local competitors. The estimate was very close to the actual cost, especially when they smartly recommended we use three movers instead of two, which certainly cost more per hour, but three guys were able to pack and unpack our boxes with increased efficiency.A word to the wise in regards to moving with a company such as this - be present. As in, be able to direct the guys who are moving your stuff. Even though your boxes are labeled, it's best to make yourself available that day to keep an eye out and answer questions. Additionally, be aware that you may have some minor damages to crappy pressboard furniture pieces - and said items are not covered by the moving insurance. Be nice to the folks moving your stuff, tip them out, buy them lunch. And then cringe at all the boxes you have to unpack.

Nothing but positives after a somewhat difficult time getting the right person on the phone. 3 movers arrived right on schedule and worked constantly making the move 4.5 hours not the 7 (overkill) that was provided as an estimate. I was most impressed with the care that was taken once we arrived to my new house (newly built and freshly painted) to ensure nothing bumped or nicked a wall on the way up the 13 stairs to our second level bedrooms and loft.

Never again. Under quoted us and then charged us twice as much...a month later!! WTF?? We usually had Two Brothers help us and they are great, I don't know what we were thinking having this company instead. STAY AWAY.
