Very disappointed.  I had read many reviews before renting a truck to move out of state.  I had read that a lot of the big name companies in the industry are known for not having the truck at time of pick-up.  Clearly, Budget is no different nor is this Budget location.  I rented the truck a good two weeks in advance for a Saturday move.  I called two days before I was to pick up the truck to confirm they had it ready.  I was swiftly told, that of course they have the truck.  I was happy to hear.I arrive at the time I had scheduled to pick up my truck and am told they only have a 12 foot or a 24 foot available.  That's they best they can do and their hands are tied.  WTH??  Seriously?  No good luck to you, sorry we LIED about having a truck available for your move?  No discount, no - sorry about this, no - damn we're a bunch of dishonest idiots...I ended up with a smaller truck than I had reserved, no refund, discount or ANYTHING to compensate for the fact that I had to leave some of my furniture behind because they didn't deliver on what I had paid for.  I'm not going to waste more of my time on this crappy location or its dishonest treatment of clients.  My advice, rent from a smaller, lesser known company.  Clearly Moving Chicago AND Budget don't care about quality, loyalty or customers.

Please rent a moving truck from anywhere else but here! The people running this store were both dishonest and unprofessional. I made a reservation for a truck online a week before I had to move out of my apartment. The night before I was set to move out, they have an intern call me, and tell me that there won't be a truck available for me at 8:30 a.m., when I reserved it for, and that I'll have to wait until 2:30 p.m. that day for a truck! This was the last thing I wanted to hear the night before I had to move! I can't believe it, but decide to go to the store in the morning anyway at the time I had originally reserved. I get there, and can barely tell what door to go in, because the place is covered in plants and junk furniture that appeared to be spilling over from the refurbished furniture store next door. I get in, and there's a line to the door of maybe a dozen people, and three employees running around trying to help everyone. It takes an hour, but they finally get to me, and it turns out that there in fact is a truck I can rent for the day. However, instead of the price that I thought I was paying when I reserved it on their website ($80.00), they inform me that they will charge me $160.00, because I won't have the truck back to them at 2:30 p.m., when they close on Saturdays. Never mind that on the online form, I said I would need the truck until 8:00 p.m. NEVER AGAIN!Please, rent from U-Haul, rent from anywhere else, but stay as far away as you can from this awful Budget location!

I called early in the week to reserve a truck and confirm that they would have it on site, because I have heard other people complain about the locations not keeping the correct trucks onsite. My husband took a cab over sunday morning to pick up the truck and what do you know, they dont have the truck we order nor did the have the next smaller size. They suggested he go to another one of their locations. My husband took another cab to another Budget location. This location had the correct size truck so we took it. I should mention they walked him around the truck to check for issues, however i guess it is not policy to check if things are working properly and or what the inside of the truck looks like. When he got home (an hour later than we had planned) he got out and the lift in back did not work and the inside tracking and casters of the door that were in severe disrepair.  We called and they would not bring us another truck an instead suggested we call road side assistance. Seriously! because it is our job to get their trucks fixed, in my mind the truck shoud not have even gone out in this conditions. They said I should call customer service and they would issue a refund once the truck was returned. We returned the truck and I called customer service, they did not seem to have problem with the fact that their truck was 1 broken( the lift) and 2 a safety concern(the 1/2 rusted off sliding door)I would not recommend using any chicagoland Budget Truck Locations, the hassel, the strain(of not being able to use the lift) and the safety concerns are not worth their cheap prices.

I just used them yesterday to move from Lakeview to West Loop and I must say, I was so surprised. I had read a ton of scary horrible reviews about U-Haul AFTER I made the reservation, so I called to cancel. Budget seemed to be the other option, unless I was going to hire movers. I went on the site and reserved the truck for $19.99/hr.After doing my change of address, I found a coupon for 20% off. I called the 1-800 number and they let me apply the coupon after making the reservation. Awesome! When I got to the place at 8:40am (my reservation was from 8:30a-3p) I was told they only had 15' trucks, which made me a little nervous. However, they charged me the 10' rate for the 15' truck. The guy doing the walk around was really nice and helpful. He pointed out a few things I didn't notice (Thanks, Rafael!)Inside was a bit hectic just because people seemed confused what line to stand in. However, I was helped by a nice man who explained the insurance rates to me and informed me my truck wasn't due back until 8am the next day... WHEW!Another plus to this place is the interior-- so kitsch and fun! They had crazy posters and signs, along with some adorable canine assistants back behind the counter and a variety of delightful airbrushed Elvis portraits.Above the counter there are lots of signs about re-fueling the truck and what not. I work in the tourism industry and I know to read the signs so once I did, I knew exactly what to do when bringing the truck back (READ THE FINE PRINT, PEOPLE!)On to the truck-- again, in my horror stories I read about U-Haul, I expected a real klunker, but to my surprise, this truck was a pretty smooth ride and best of all, it had air conditioning!!We ended up needing a 15' truck (I have way too much stuff to be living in a studio...) and the ramp made loading and unloading super fast and easy.I got everything done by 3pm and when I went to return the truck, I got confused and pulled to the wrong side of the parking lot. Within about 30 seconds of me walking around confused, the same guy who had rung me up was right out there, taking the reigns and backing the truck in for me like a pro (and a gentleman!)He then completed my paperwork in 5 min, and was super friendly too!All in all, I was so pleased with my experience. This other review was from like a year ago so I am assuming they changed management or something because that was not at all the vibe I got when I was in there.Oh also they have a bowl of candy and a water cooler so even if there is a line, it's not so bad waiting in it.Thanks, Moving Chicago! You guys were awesome!

I was really excited to rent a truck to move on a holiday weekend at the end of the month at only $40 from this Budget Truck location.  The Friday before the move, I contacted them to confirm my reservation (I had gotten two online confirmations but am paranoid something would go wrong).  When I did, they told me the rate was $30 per hour and that I would have to cancel right then or there or be charged.  I advised them that corporate's cancellation policy was 48 hours and he said I could call right back.  After finding another truck (thank god!) I called back to cancel the reservation and nearly was hung up on.  Glad I didn't go with them, who knows what sort of shenanigans would ensue when I actually tried to get a truck.
