STAY AWAY from Moving Chicago LLC (2241 N. Elston Ave.) as almost ALL others have stated. Their shadiness and dishonesty is outrageous! I planned things kind-of last minute for my move from Chicago to the East Coast (I'd originally planned to put my things in storage), but it is still NO excuse for the way LLC Chicago treated me. I called the day before needing a 12-foot truck (I had some trouble with the Budget online system) and spoke with both Dennis and Jeff. I said SEVERAL times that I needed a truck that no one had smoked in recently, as I have asthma. They said that would be no problem. I believe it was Jeff (white man in his 50s or 60s, the owner, I think) who even offered to go select a truck to air out for my trip. When I get there the next day, I casually look into a truck on my way in and notice that it has ashes all over the cab, so I make a note not to get that truck. I fill out the paperwork with Jeff (Again, I think it was Jeff, but who the hell knows since he won't actually identify himself. RED FLAG!) and was paying so much attention to the bill that I didn't realize he had me sign a vehicle inspection sheet WITHOUT offering to show me the truck he'd already chosen whatsoever. I told him I couldn't have the truck I'd already looked into and he said, "Oh. No problem. I'm not giving you that truck anyway." Then I clearly heard him tell the woman I think is his wife, "Get her a very clean truck that doesn't smell like smoke" and I'm pretty sure he even told her the # truck to give me. Why would I suspect that this man would give an INNOCENT, paying customer, whom he had NEVER met before, a filthy truck that smelled like a damn ashtray?? So, I go out to the truck and notice that the cab is filthy and that it kind of smells like smoke. I go back into the shop and tell Jeff that it isn't very clean and ask if they have a vacuum. He says they DON'T HAVE a vacuum (um, how do you usually clean the trucks then?) and also that his cleaning guy "didn't show up" that day. Probably another lie. So then he hands me $2 (yes, a measly TWO DOLLARS) to go vacuum the cab myself. Gee, thanks! So generous. Later, I get mad and call to complain. A very argumentative woman answered the phone and kept saying that she had checked that truck out herself (I'm sorry, but you need LASIK!) and that they had a no-smoking policy. Um, I realize that, but people STILL break the rules. There was spilled loose tobacco all behind the cab seats, so obviously someone WAS smoking in there, fool! I called past closing time and couldn't get there in time to go look at other trucks. She said I could come in in the morning, but I needed to leave at that time. She said that Jeff would call me and probably refund me 10% for my trouble. HE. NEVER. CALLED. I scrub the cab and finally needed to get on the road. It still continues to smell like a$$. After a day and a half of driving, I see something that kind of looks like a concealed ashtray in the cab (why would there even BE an ashtray in their NON-SMOKING vehicles??). I pull over and what do you know? The entire thing was FILLED WITH ASHES that I been in very close proximity to as an asthmatic. I call LLC absolutely infuriated and finally speak with Jeff (who had been avoiding my calls). He had the audacity to call me a "hypochondriac" and flat-out LIED and said he had showed me the truck beforehand. THAT. NEVER. HAPPENED, JEFF!! You know that! Whether or not he happens to think I'm a hypochondriac, guess what?? I still paid close to $1,000 for that truck and he should've provided me with what I politely asked for due to a VALID medical condition! You've never heard of asthma, you ignorant fool?? Guess he thinks anyone who insists on a clean vehicle would be a hypochondriac since his office is absolutely filthy. He even gives customers pens to sign with that have been literally CHEWED TO A PULP by either himself or his scuzzy Pomeranians that he has meandering around the shop. Classy touch! Oh, and I believe he intentionally overcharged me for moving supplies (it was only $1 overcharge, but the rope CLEARLY said $4 NOT $5). He also entered in the wrong destination drop-off after I told him SEVERAL times the correct drop off, yet he enters in a city several hours away. I'm not paying for your INTENTIONAL "mistake," JEFF!! I will note that Dennis (black man) seems to be more reasonable.I seriously believe the owner DELIBERATELY gave me a filthy truck that reeked like smoke JUST because I asked for otherwise. WHO WOULD DO THAT? I cannot describe the amount of physical, emotional, and financial stress this experience caused me. Jeff is a pathetic excuse of a man and a pathological LIAR! I'm reporting LLC to every agency possible. He has no damn business BEING IN BUSINESS!! How does he even SLEEP??Oh, I cancelled my credit card after this fiasco, since I didn't want shady-ass Jeff having access to my info. I will stop at NOTHING to ruin his business! Go f%$# yourself, Jeff!!

DO NOT RENT HERE!! OWNER IS A DISHONEST BUSINESS MAN!I can not express this enough. In a nut shell, I dropped my rental truck off 2 hours before it needed to be returned (3:00pm) well within their business hours. I was told to take the truck to a different location, located outside the city because their lot was full. (there was room for at least 2 trucks that I could see) I take the CTA how the h#@^ I'm I going to get back from the other location! I said I was not able to do that, the Owner/Boss mumbled to the employee helping me "Fine just take the truck." A couple days past and I was checking my bank statement, right next to the rental transaction was a separate charge for $50! I called Budget to figure out what this was, they put me on hold to call that location. The Owner flat out lied to them saying, because the truck was dropped off after hours they had to charge me.In my opinion, the owner is a lying dishonest person that will do anything to make a penny. Does not care about customer service or repeat business. I will never go back to this location, and maybe never rent from Budget again.

Some of the WORST customer service I have  ever encountered. I originally reserved a Budget Truck from this location through the Budget Truck website. Everything was fine, but last minute I ended up booking movers to help me. So I called the day before my reservation was to cancel. The woman I spoke with was unbelievably rude. She took more time than necessary to pull up my reservation and I could hear her talking to someone else in the background about something irrelevant. Then She told me about the $50 cancellation fee which I did not see when making the booking. Of course I was upset about that, and I asked her where I could see that policy and her response was "It should be somewhere in there." Then she said she would cancel it and see what happened, said goodbye and hung up. I was so appalled with how quickly she cut me off and didn't even take the time to let it process or find out what happened. I promptly called back to complain about the rude service. The second person I spoke with was more pleasant and said that the $50 fee would no longer apply. After I hung up, I realized I didn't have any written confirmation or a name to refer to, so I called back less than 10 minutes later. I ended up speaking with the first woman who obviously remembered me and was getting very short with me. I told her that all I wanted was something written to confirm that (not too much to ask). Her response was "Didn't you just call in? She took the $50 off and we said it's not there, if you're going to keep calling I'm going to put it back on!" Finally I got her to agree to send me a confirmation of that, but she could only send it via fax. Even then she was extremely rude and not very willing to help out.Someone should not be giving that kind of attitude to a customer and being so disrespectful and almost yelling at someone on the phone. I was extremely unhappy and would never recommend anyone to using this company.

This place could not be worse (or filthier) if it tried... and believe me, it does.  Oh, and the staff could not be ruder or more unethical if they tried... and you know the rest.I returned a one-way truck rental here, and a few days later noticed a charge on my credit card for $175.  When I called, "Joe" told me that I'd need to come to the office in person to discuss any billing issues.  So I went there.  Big mistake. When I got there, Joe was out to lunch.  Instead I got the owner and a woman who I can only assume was his wife.  The owner told me that he'd charged me $15 for leaving the moving blankets folded, but in two piles.  Another $50 for there being gravel in the passenger compartment from the lot that I rented the truck from (which came from that guy's boots when he got in the cab to test the lights on the tow bed).  Another $50 for after-hours drop off (even though the contract said $10).  And $60 for supposed gas top-up, even though I gave him the receipt of the gas that I got at the station four blocks away, and showed him a photo of the gauge at full.  When I told him that I didn't think that any of the charges were justified, he told me that he could charge "whatever he wanted."When I asked for my gas receipt back so that I could send it to my credit card company to dispute the charges, both he and his wife started yelling at me, insulting me and threatening me.  They then said that they were going to call the police and say that I was trespassing, which they did... all in an effort to not give me back my receipt to try to stop me from having the charges reversed.  The whole thing was like some low-budget, dirty, ignorant episode of the twilight zone.  Luckily for me, I'd paid with my AmEx Platinum, which is the best card ever for disputes.  So even though they clearly try to rip everyone off that comes through the door, I'm sure I'll be okay.  But I'm writing this review to warn y'all--- this location, and its owner Dennis, are straight-up, unvarnished, unashamed crooks.  And they will do anything they can to steal from you.So you've now been warned.  I've also reported them to the BBB, consumer affairs, and the attorney general's office. So hopefully no one else has to deal with these people ever again. (Good luck!)

When I went to pick up a truck I had pre-rented on the Budget site, the guys, Dennis, gave me a reservation form with much higher costs.  When i brought that to his attention he kept saying "this is what the computer brought down", in a very surly manner.  i called budget - the y said that the store had cancelled my reservation and put in a new one - at  the higher price!!  Budget reinstated my original reservation - and then all of  a sudden the guy agrees to it - but doesn't use the new reservation, just gives me money off the one he put in.  Before that it was "i cant do nothin, I cant do nothin".  Any very very surly. Then he marks the gas level wrong, so we had to change that.  30 minutes later I was finally on my way.  Will not go there again - Dennis is surly and tries to cheat his customers.
