this is for Hercules/Guardian to Hawaii. I supposed it was ok enough, probably could've saved a bit if I was smarter about it. The phone personnel on the California side were ... idk unpleasant I suppose but they did their job. I got a lot of weird e-mails demanding signatures and things to be done within the hour, I suppose they were trying to save me money though. They came and surveyed my stuff, the man was nice, but the quote was way above the estimate from the list. When it was all packed, it was almost $1,000 over what he expected, but with my stuff on the truck, what was I gonna do? I coughed it up. They wanted a cashier's check or CASH which I thought was weird. On the Hawaii end, it was excellent. They figured out the weird traffic blocking they had to do, and brought everything in. Some things were missing though, and one box didn't get to me for a good month. They had some hard time assembling the Ikea lol but it's understandable, there's no Ikea in Hawaii (sadness). They were very nice local boys, very helpful about moving things and not complaining or making any excess straining gestures or noises, very professional I thought. Overall, I guess my stuff got here on time, and wasn't damaged, it was just a complex process.

Is this really a good deal?  I made the mistake of putting my phone number into a website that distributed it to 20+ moving companies, all of which kept calling my phone.  After narrowing it down we decided to go with Hercules because they were promising that they could beat anyone's price, and quoted me a 'binding' contract via email.I called back to update my inventory, telling them I had a few extra things and they said it was not a problem.  They even told me that it was an extra $50 for a large TV box if we did not have one to put our TV in.When they got to our house, two men came to our house, walked around for 5 minutes, then went outside and called someone.  They barely spoke English, so it was difficult to understand what they were saying (or negotiate).  They told us that we had too many items, and wanted to charge us an additional $800.  When we called the salesperson, Maya, she tried to calm everything down and we ended up speaking to a supervisor.  He told us we could settle for an additional $500.Ok, so we had some extra stuff.  They began moving our things (they were in our house taking things part for 9 hours).  Heads up, they don't just move your things.  They took apart all our tables, chairs, coffee tables, end tables, wrapped our TV in a blanket (so what was the extra $50 for?), patio furniture, etc. Some of our clothes were in large bags, and they told us we had to put them in boxes (and counted the additional boxes towards our inventory total.About 7 hours into the move, they stopped again and told us it would be an additional $130 to move the rest of our things, or we could leave them behind.  We again got on the phone with Hercules, and this time their dispatch center told us to just give the phone to the movers and she would tell them to unload the truck right there!  (even after paying the additional $130 we still had to leave things behind). Was that a threat?  Didn't we already have to give you more money? We told them we wanted our delivery date to be11 days after pickup (moving from Seattle to Irvine, CA).  They said there would be no problem, just leave the keys in a lock box for the delivery driver. We got down there and the truck did not show up.  We drove down the coast with one suitcase each, so we had nothing to live on or wear.  The delivery truck showed up 3 weeks later.  No Joke.  By then we had to buy several new things.  Not to mention we were starting new jobs, and had to buy a whole new professional wardrobe....not cheap. Our contact at Hercules (Maya) said since she felt bad, we could buy an inflatable mattress and they would pay for it.  We bought one, and she said it was too expensive and they would only reimburse us $60 towards the mattress.HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAWe kept calling about what time our stuff was coming.  They told us April 5.  Then April 6.  Then April 7.  It finally came on April 9th, 3 weeks later. Our belongings were picked up in a small moving truck.  When they arrived to us in CA, they were in a large semi-truck.  All of our things were smashed into a small area of the semi trailer to save room (since our belongings were with several other peoples belongings.)I was trying to keep up with the movers to make sure everything was there, but they were unloading everything so fast it was difficult.  There were several things that weren't marked, and they asked me if the items were mine.  I replied 'no,' but couldn't help but think that they were other people's things that were missing and obviously not delivered.Long story short, several of our items were broken, most of our glass was broken, boxes we had taped with moving tape were re-taped with duct tape.  Boxes were missing.  It has been a nightmare. We have filed complaints with the BBB, our bank, our insurance, called the news here in CA, and sent out complaints through various networks to get the word out.If you are going to move your things with Hercules Moving Systems, you would be better off selling everything you can and buying new stuff on the other end.My first month in California has consisted of sleeping on the floor, then a horrible air mattress, then (when my computer finally came) filling out insurance forms and police reports.  If this sounds like a great time to you, then you should probably call Hercules and have them break all of your stuff too!

I'm am writing this review and giving 4 stars, not 5, only because I ended up not using their services. BUT the front end people i dealt with - Tia and Avi- were GREAT and I just had to write about it. Others were paying for my move, so I had no final say, but it was down to Hercules and the other company. Due to their friendliness, persistence and good pricing, they remained in the running till the end. In the future, when I'm paying for it, I would use Hercules.

I wish I had read yelp before using these guys, they embody everything that's wrong with the moving business. The final price was twice what we were quoted and the driver (Sam) is a liar. He promised he would work out the overage with the dispatcher then totally denied ever saying that once they had our stuff. We paid for a third more space than the entire capacity of the two trucks that delivered our stuff from their warehouse to the final destination. Please be aware that the driver gets percentage of the final bill so they are incentivized to rip you off. This is a very shady company, pay the extra for a reputable moving company and save yourself the headache.

Two bedroom lamps got damaged when one of the movers dropped the mattress on them.He told me to take photos and send them in for reimbursement, since I paid for insurance.I HOPE there are no SNAFU's with getting reimbursed!(still in process)Otherwise the two guys that came out worked their butts off on a rainy day.  I was told later that moving day was actually their day off.  Not sure if this is true or not.Overall the move was fairly straightforward, and I haven't found any more damaged items.
