Talk about a bait and switch! Horrible, absolutely horrible customer service! This company prides itself on transparency and nothing could be further from the truth. I booked my move in May and everything was fine with the pick up. I didn't have a place in Chicago yet and only knew the zip code so I was told to just tell them the date and address at least 12 days ahead of time. I told them the date and address for the drop off in Chicago with 17 days notice. However, my email to my sales rep was ignored. I followed up a few days later and was again ignored. I called a few days later and was told my rep would call me back. No call back. So I called back AGAIN and was told she was busy and would call me back. Still no call, but I did get an email saying my potential delivery window would be 10 days long AND 2 full weeks after the original date I provided. I received that sentence, the number of the long distance move customer service and NOTHING else. I replied asking my rep to call me immediately, which she did not as I had to call the office again and speak to someone else. This someone else told me that if I had wanted an exact delivery date, I would need to pay more! The opposite of their "no surprise fees" motto! I asked to speak with a supervisor and was told she'd call me back. I waited 4 hours and called again to learn the supervisor had left for the day 5 minutes prior. THEN, to top it all off, I receive and email from the company charging me for extra storage time! For a service business, the customer experience has been reprehensible. I'm beginning to think that my items have been stolen and I'll never get them and that's why no one is giving me a straight answer or following through with promises on communication. Do not use this company if you value your time, money, or sanity.

Recently moved from London to Los Angeles.Throughout the process, our agent Jasmin was in close contact with me and my wife and helped us move up our delivery window not once but twice.  Additionally, when we believed one of our items was lost, our agent diligently began the process of investigating what had happened.  It turned out that the item had been packed into a different box and mislabeled at origin, but was eventually found.Jasmin (as well as our packers at origin) provided outstanding service and we would definitely use FlatRate again.  Having moved internationally with several different companies, FlatRate has been the best by far: least hassle, most attentive staff, no hidden fees (thus the name), quick delivery time, and no lost items.  We priced 6 moving companies this time, FlatRate was not the cheapest but last time we moved, the company quoted us a low price and then hit us with lots of fees later so we ended up paying almost double the initial quote.  Flat Rate was higher initially but no extra fees at all.

I had a pretty smooth transition moving from New York to Los Angeles. There was a minor issue regarding my quote: I was initially quoted $2900 to move a 1 bedroom apartment, but didn't yet have my LA address. I approximated a zip code, but when I got my final address (a mere 3 miles away from the initial zip code) and docked off a few large items, my quote increased to $3000. I immediately brought up this concern to Larry, who had done the initial quote for me, and he was extremely prompt in his response and my final payment was decreased. Besides this small hitch, I had a great experience. The movers in New York were on time and efficient. I was given a time window destination, which was also prompt. My LA movers were fantastic and on closer inspection, my things arrived in excellent condition. I would use this service again.

I used FlateRate for a move from CA to TX. On the day of the move I was offered additional insurance coverage other than their minimal liability insurance that only covered .60 (cents) per pound. I was more than happy to accept this additional coverage for peace of mind and I signed the paperwork for the additional coverage. On the delivery day, not only were some items (bookshelf, coffee table, computer and a TV) delivered damaged, but the FlatRate mover never submitted the paperwork for the additional insurance coverage I agreed to purchase. It was so infuriating, especially when I was forced to purchase an additional overpriced wardrobe box on the day of my move and was immediately charged for it. Why didn't they charge me immediately for the additional insurance?? After filing a claim with them, I ended up with a miserable $140 settlement offer. In addition to that, the movers in CA were unprofessional. They arrived to my apartment smelling like weed and were making offensive comments in Spanish assuming I didn't understand. And to top it off, I had to help jump start their truck before they left with my stuff. Thanks FlatRate.

I use to be an Oz loyalist (used them 3 times in NYC), but after an awful experience with a cross country move, I figured I'd give flat rate a try after a friend recommended Them. They were amazing, especially our sales representative James, and the three men who moved us, Jesus, Chuy...and I forget the third guys name. But they went above and beyond to make our move as painless as possible. We were pretty unprepared when they showed up, and they stepped right in and helped us finish packing. On top of that they were super sweet and respectful. And I'm happy to report that nothing was broken. I'm definitely going to use flat rate again!
