What can I say, these guys have moved me more than once. And I love the candor, consideration and flexibility with all their staff. My latest journey included Chicago to LA. I had the pleasure of working with professionals including Jorge Wilson, Johnny Gonzales, and Juan Marquez. These three men were kind, gentle with my property and helpful. I used them for local LA, NYC moves and cross country, and every time I'm given the high-quality customer service we deserve. My big special thanks to boss that knows I'm a returning customer.  The Price is fair, and they always pick up my calls with any concerns.  I don't know another moving company that delivers best in class on all fronts.

Do Not Use FlatRate Los Angeles. This was the worst moving experience I've ever had. TERRIBLE communication ... even from the location's GM Joy Karavany. My move was scheduled for Friday 6/30 ... it finally happened on Sunday 7/2!!! And I had to be the one to chase after them in order to get a truck to finally show up. The management and dispatchers have no idea what customer service is. They truly do not care. Complete and total fail.DAY 1 Friday - truck was to arrive between 12-3, two phone calls to say they will be late and they finally show up at 5:30. Grumpy and tired. I learn they need to drive to Irvine for a final delivery after they are done with me! This is the Friday that started the 4th of July weekend. After much discussion of logistics and timing, by 6:30 pm I finally accept the move is not going to happen that day and I offer to push to the next day IF they could have a truck to me at 2:00. Dispatch is called by the team lead and I am told this is no problem and to expect a call from dispatch to confirm.DAY 2 Saturday - after sleeping among boxes and locating the one that included my toothbrush I awaited the call from FR dispatch. By 10:30 am - nothing. I phone them, and am disconnected by the auto-forwarding system. Call back, reach a human who tells me dispatch will call me back in 10-15 minutes. 45 minutes later I call again. Same thing. By 1:00 I have a voice mail saying they've not called because they are busy. BUSY! Not busy moving me, that is for sure. The vm, from dispatcher Hermes, tells me he'll phone as soon as he can confirm timing. A few minutes after 2:00 I call again and am told yeah, sorry, we can't make it work for today. Reschedule a second time for Sunday between 9-11.Day 3 Sunday - Movers arrive at 11:30. 8 hours later they finish unloading and leave. I naively thought the next day I'd hear from one of the many people I reached out to for resolution over the weekend. Nothing. They are good at taking your money. Once they have it, good luck with them having any further interest in you.Like another reviewer, I had used FR years before and had a great experience. Naturally I opted to go with them again and didn't look at YELP reviews. Big mistake on both counts. I don't know what has happened to this company in the past 7 years. They went from fabulous to failure.Prior to posting this review I wrote to Joy, the GM, about the bad experience I had. I told her I was going to post a review to YELP and any response sh provided me would be included in my review. It is only fair to present both sides. Her response to me - nothing. A quick email to say she'd contact me by Monday. Today is Thursday, one week from my original email ... still no reply. It is very clear to me the precedent for their very poor customer service starts at the top.Moving is bad enough without bad movers. FlateRate Los Angeles is a very bad moving company. Pay attention to this and the other bad reviews that have been posted recently and avoid the experience we had.Update ... later this same day: I heard from Joy .. she felt I was unfair in saying she did nothing in response to my email from last Thursday. To be more clear: My initial note to FR was sent on Thursday. Joy replied to say she'd get back to me on Monday. On Monday she replied to say she hadn't forgotten about me and will call me the next day, Tuesday. After that I heard nothing from her until this afternoon, Thursday. This afternoon she informed me the issue has been shared with their claims department, who I also heard from today. They have offered to refund a portion of the money I spent and hope that it repairs the relationship. I thanked them for the gestured and assured them the relationship is not fixable.

They are great! Best moving and storage company I know of! I strongly recommend. I've moved around a lot over the past few years... Flat Rate is the best!

I was very pleased with my move: about a one-bedroom apt worth from LA to DC. Chris at the LA office patiently answered my many questions over the course of the moving process. He worked closely with me to develop the estimate prior to the move, and I experienced ZERO hidden charges or fees.I found the movers themselves on both ends were good team-workers and there was always one person who was able to communicate with me well.Unfortunately, one item that I packed and three items that the movers packed did end up breaking: two glass items broke, one metal item damaged, and one wood item damaged. I filled out my claim and about a month later I received just about the amount I thought was realistic for the replacement/repair costs of the items. Not ideal, but probably expected for a 3000 mile move.Overall, I was very pleased with this company. I have heard horror stories from folks moving using other companies, and I found that FlatRate provided excellent service for a reasonable price.

Excellent pricing, great communications and best of all an easy and well-done move. The man  who set up our move of 150 miles, Christopher Bartlow, was an excellent listener on the phone. He trusted me as to what I had to move and gave me a very competitive bid almost immediately. He followed up to make sure we ready for the move. The movers showed up on time on moving day, were courteous, nice and easy to work with. They were quick, nice and very helpful. The same was true for the unpacking at our new home. I really liked the 3 men that accomplished our move-out, move-in without incident, without damage and with all the help and friendliness one can ask for. I highly recommend FlatRate Moving for any move.
