History

Established in 2008. Two Men and a Truck® started in the early 1980s as a way for two brothers to make extra money while they were in high school. Now, more than 30 years later, the company has grown to over 320 locations worldwide. Brothers Brig Sorber and Jon Sorber started moving people in the Lansing, Mich., area using an old pickup truck. Their mom, Mary Ellen Sheets, developed a logo to put in a weekly community newspaper. That stickmen logo still rests on every truck, sign, and advertisement three decades later.After the brothers left for college, Sheets continued to field calls for moving services while she also worked a full-time data processing job with the State of Michigan. In 1985, she decided to make things official by purchasing a 14-foot truck for $350 and hiring a pair of movers. That $350 is the only capital Sheets has ever invested in the company.

This was a nightmare of a move due to bad weather, etc. etc.We had to vacate our apartment (on the 4th Floor of the Allegro in Addison) to a storage unit at Post Addison Circle since our new apartment wouldn't be ready for 12 days.The first team of guys were absolutely wonderful....diligent, fast, careful, personable....you get the picture. They were so awesome that we requested them for the next move in 12 days. I believe that one of the guys on the team was Darius (I am bad with remembering names).Our scheduled second move was Feb. 28th......forever remembered by me as "Hell Day"! Our move was cancelled due to extreme weather. Bummer!! We were rescheduled to March 3rd. When the movers arrived to my dismay, it was not the original team. This team was Justin and some other gentleman who didn't have a full grasp of the English language,and that is A-Okay except we mostly had to communicate with Justin. This team was the polar opposite of Team 1. NOT personable at all, seemed annoyed by the fact they were moving us into another 4th Floor apartment (this time at Post Addison Circle). They were pretty much slackers.....slow, slow, slow.....did I mention SLOW! I felt as though they were milking the clock. The guy Justin seemed very annoyed that I was watching them work however, each time I walked away I returned to no progress whatsoever. In the end, they took so much time that I had them just unload everything pretty much into the living room and I did the work of placing the boxes and furniture into the correct rooms. I'm 5'2 and weigh 112 but I was working circle around these guys.All in all the first team I would have rated 5 Star....second team, 2 Star......Final rating 3 Star. I would chose this company again but will insist on NO Team #2.

NEVER SHOWED UP OR CALLED - Wish I had checked yelp before calling them - You have failed your mission miserably.We secured an appointment and were told the movers would arrive between 1 and 4 PM on Friday, August 30. At 5 pm we had heard nothing from the movers, or from the dispatcher. We called the office where we booked, and were transferred to dispatcher, who said he was checking with the movers, that they were likely still on a previous job. He called back once to say he could not contact the movers... "their phone is probably dead". of course by now the booking office was closed. We had to call the dispatcher back a number of times to get updates, which was only to be told that the dispatcher was unable to get in touch with the movers... We finally called a third or fourth time after 1.5 hours of calling him, to cancel, for a total of about 6 hours of wasted time waiting.

Would NEVER recommend this company & will definitely warn anyone to seek moving help elsewhere unless they want to be; lied to, ripped off, have their items broken & not replaced. Shame on you, Two Men & a Truck of Carrollton, shame on you!
