The Moving Company

We had to move from Boerne to Florida on short notice. I departed ahead of my husband, leaving him to deal with moving our belongings. After many days of packing and getting everything ready, he hired The Moving Company to load 2 PODS that we were using to move. The crew arrived on time and got to work. Apparently they started out OK, but things quickly went sour. Their is no consistency in their methods. One of the crew used a packing blanket and many, many feet of shrink wrap to protect a $10 Wal-Mart magazine rack, while a $1500 antique Jury Box chair was tossed in the POD with no protection at all. It seemed that the more valuable the item, the rougher it was treated. A box marked "TOOLS" weighing maybe 40 lbs. was put on top of a box labeled "BREAKABLE" TV cartons with arrows and "THIS SIDE UP" were loaded upside down. Heavy patio chairs were tossed on top of fragile items. Although we had purchased expensive mattress bags, most of them were packed unopened in the PODS, while the mattresses themselves were jammed on the plywood floor with stuff piled on top. They have a habit of putting furniture on end or upside down, so edges and smooth surfaces are at risk of unnecessary damage.  These guys managed to damage things that they didn't even pack. It was such as a total failure that when I flew back to help drive on the last segment of the move, we had to delay a full day to unpack and reload the work that we drastically overpaid for. Full disclosure..my husband did not supervise the whole loading operation, believing that since he hired "professionals", we could rely on a good job. My husband e-mailed the company to express his disappointment and the owner did call back promptly, and did refund a very small amount, but (and I don't fully get this part), said that he had sent a 4 man crew instead of the usual 3 so a larger refund wasn't possible. If the job we got was the result of extra manpower, I shudder to think what things would have looked like with less help. If after reading this you still decide to hire this company, ask for a breakdown of ALL charges. When quoting our job, no one mentioned the $80 "fuel surcharge". We were charged this even though the company moved in their vans exactly zero items belonging to us, so in my opinion, that charge is bill padding. There is also a penalty charged if you choose to pay with a credit card. All in all, I regret my husband ever contacting The Moving Company. I believe we would have done better to hire a couple of strong neighbors. I bet they wouldn't have hit me up for gas money.

This company was recommended to me by my apartment complex...BAD IDEA.  First off they were late, second they had a three man crew in which only one individual did 75% of the work, 3rd they used MY DOLLY!  They managed to take a 2.5hr job and double it from how slow they moved.  They gave me 3 giant scuffs on my new walls and moved stuff labeled GARAGE after being told it stayed next to the truck.  Then to top it off not only did they charge me a trip charge but they also charged me a FUEL SURCHARGE!!!!  Fuel hasn't been this cheap in years and they are still charging a fuel surcharge.  I called the office during the middle of the unloading and all they were willing to do was argue with me about the good job they thought they were doing or stop completely and leave me high and dry.  Point being DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME WITH THIS COMPANY!!!

I do NOT recommend this company.  They have hidden charges that you don't find out about until they show up to move you.  Also they sent tiny little thin men to do the job.  Sent them on their way after talking to the manager or owner on the phone who was rude.  They were recommended by my storage facility so obviously they must be getting kick backs for referrals because I can't imagine why anyone would refer them.The reason I am not in their files is because I did not use them and sent them away!

I had never used a moving company before and was in a bind to move out of my apartment with a couple days notice. I called The Moving Co. and the owner said no problem and they would be over first thing in the morning. The movers showed up on time and got to work right away.  I don't have many treasured items but I do have a lot of music equipment and a very cool (Expensive) mirror my grandmother gave me.  They made sure everything was taken care of and wrapped the mirror like it has never been wrapped before. Very professional company and I forever have a mover if I ever need one again. I highly recommend this company.

This company was recommended to me. They were hired to help me pack as well. There was some complaining and I was billed for more hours than what was spent packing. My problem was the owner Lee lied to me about the check I wrote to them. I had to get the manager of my bank involved. I have no use for liers. Disappointing!
