History

Established in 2004. The company started out with one truck, and has grown to a fleet of 7 trucks and employs 18 employees. The owner worked for a local moving company for over 6 years going through college. He was moving from a 2 bedroom house, trying to find a reputable and reasonably priced moving company. He came across a few that were reasonably priced, but none that were reputable. The ones that were reputable were overpriced, so Lone Star was created, to offer the people a reasonably priced, and highly reputable company combined.

They just decided to not show up when I needed them to move me. No call back, no explanation just didn't come. I do not recommend them.

DO NOT USE LONE STAR MOVING COMPANY!!! I Paid $1195 for my move plus tipped the 4 movers $20 each. Lots of stuff was damaged. I made a claim as instructed. It's been nearly a month, and I have not a reply to my numerous emails and phone calls regarding the status of my claim. Very unprofessional and completely unresponsive!!!

Well, on the positive side, they do show up on time and are willing to work on short notice.  They sent four guys and a 24 foot truck, which sounds like a good thing.  Unless you don't have enough stuff to fill a 24 foot truck and the items they load aren't all that well secured.  They loaded my husband's unbelievably heavy tool box and then decided to pull around to the other side of the house to load from the other door.  They didn't secure the tool box (hullooo, it's on wheels) and it crashed into the back door of the moving truck when they took off. Luckily no damage to the toolbox.  But a remark was made that my husband "needed to have some kind of locks on the wheels", like it was his fault. The main guy who was in charge of the crew was nice enough and seemed to know what he was doing.  Of the other three, only one seemed like a professional and actually treated my belongings with the respect I expected for the price I paid.  The other two guys...well, I could have gone down to the corner mini mart and gotten better help.   I had a lot of furniture with scratches and a chunk of finish the size of a half dollar knocked off the front of my big ol' king size headboard.  Also a long, deep scratch on one of the sideboards of the bed. The matching TV armoire has a corner that was seriously dinged.  My new dining table has the finish knocked off one corner and a leather chair was apparently squeezed through a doorway in such a way as to gouge several spots on the front of the chair. A number of door jams were dinged pretty bad.  I showed the damage to the guy in charge and he said he was sorry but that he "couldn't get anyone to fess up" to having caused the damage.  There is a small paragraph of legalese on the back of the billing statement that indicates you can file a claim, but it is not at all clear about how and where to do this.  And, to tell you the truth, I don't think it would do any good.  Also, I was confused by the fuzzy math they use on the trip charge.  After they finished unloading, the main guy asked me to put in my address on my iPhone and then put in the address of the moving company in San Antonio so he could determine the mileage in order to calculate the trip charge.  The mileage came up to 44.5 miles (under 45 miles is supposed to be $45.00).  He muttered something about "his boss wouldn't go for that"  and then had me put in a different address in San Antonio and it came up to 47 miles.  He decided he needed to use that one to determine a one hour return trip charge of $94.00 instead of the $45.00.  Huh?  Trust me, you can do better than this.
