I'm not sure what happened with other people as far as this moving company is concerned but I can honestly say that my experience with Tom and his crew was above my expectations for a long distance move.I have now done two long distance moves (one from CA to TX and now one from TX back to CA) and my first move left me very wary of what to expect; the first time (with a different CA based company) took a full 20 days for my stuff to reach me, multiple hidden fees that ended up costing my an arm and a leg and a lot of my items were much worse for their travels.  With Houston's Best I was treated with courtesy and my items were treated with respect.  Every time I called or emailed I was given a prompt response and there really weren't any hidden fees.  Everything was discussed up front and I saved a lot of money over any of the other quotes I received.My advice to people making a move would be to be honest with yourself as far as how many boxes you are going to be transporting (I underestimated mine a bit but the extra sq. ft I ended up using over my quote was a very nominal amount).

My husband and I hired Houston's Best Movers to do an in-city move only a few miles away, but it involved moving items from our apartment and from our storage unit.  The guys worked hard and did a way better job than we would have done ourselves.  The vendor charges by the hour and there was a lag time in the drive time between driving from the storage unit to the final destination.  A drive that typically takes 10 minutes to the moving truck 30 minutes which ate into our budgeted time.  When I called the owner Tom, to notify him of the issue he was rude on the phone and said he would take 10 minutes off the final bill.  Although he offered a remedy, I didn't like his tone of voice when speaking to me over the phone.  There was also a point when one of the movers was on the phone while moving rather than focusing on the job. I didn't mind it so much, but I wonder if that also ate into our time.  Overall, they got the job done and it met my expectations, but the cost of it all was about $200 more than I expected because of the extra time it took to complete the move and the "extras" that were charged such as boxes and packing tape.  I was also told that i could use a credit card to pay for the services, but once the movers arrived he asked for cash or check only.  The bright side is that there was a groupon for the move that saved me $50.  I'd gladly pay to have someone move me in the future.

So I'm finally getting around to writing this review a year later. If like to start out by saying these guys are really good. They were fast, gentle with the furniture, and friendly. I'm not sure what everyone else went through but my experience was great. I guess it would be the luck of the draw on people they send to do your move or in my case how close you supervise everything being done and question anything you don't like or understand. I mean you are paying for it. My favorite part was the reasonable price. Once they came in and packed everything and we got to my new place and they unpacked everything and put it the respective location of the house. I noticed my bed got chipped in the move and they found the piece and said they would come back to repair it. In my mind I said yeah right. Well low and behold a month later they actually contacted me and came and repaired the bed frame. It looks almost flawless. Unless you it's there you can't tell. I can't believe how great these guys are. If I ever move again or when my friends move I will definitely recommend them.

Used these movers based on my Storage Facility recommendations. I will never use them again and would recommend that any friends or family members stay far away. Not only are they unprofessional, they also are deceiving with their quoting practices, leaving you without many choices on moving day. I agree with the prior user review on multiple accounts.1. Quote Practices: The quoted price and services was changed the day of move. Services previously included in the quote, were changed by the movers on day of move. Leaving the customer with the inability to protect their furniture or pay the pricing they required.2. The movers were late and it took them over 1 hour after stated time to get ready for move. Concern was voiced with the management, to which he replied that his movers had called him and told him they were on time. Unless you take a time/date stamped picture upon arrival or have another means of verification, management will not acknowledge their mistake.3. Multiple pieces of furniture were scratched and broken. The movers were immediately notified as the furniture was placed into the storage facility. Pictures were taken. These findings were immediately discussed with management. The resolution offered was fixing of furniture, with his personal carpenter that did not have references or certification. Management would not offer to pay for repairs at any other carpenter and were adamant that the repairs or cost for repairs only be completed by their choice.4. Throughout the moving process and during the resolution process, management and the movers themselves have acted extremely unprofessional and juvenile in their responses to complaints. I have used multiple movers before, with furniture damage occurring. My complaints and repairs have occurred within days in a satisfactory manner. Unfortunately, this was not my experience on this occasion and has continued to remain a source of contention. I have multiple complaints filed with various agencies against this company.I would suggest when looking for a moving company, go elsewhere. I have since moved with an excellent company, Cactus Moving as well as 3 Men Movers. Some of my best moving experiences to date.

Hurricane Harvey hit, and I needed to store a lot of furniture.  Houston's Best Movers came the next day after I called.  The 3 men who came were careful, polite, and thorough.  They took their time, wrapped everything as if it were glass.  They are not piano movers, but they helped me turn my baby grand on its side so that I could remove the legs.  Then the wrapped it up carefully just like they did with the other items.  I could not be more pleased, and I would certainly recommend them.
