Best movers? Worst movers ever! Found a deal on Groupon about this company so I figured I'd give it a try. I contacted them to inquire about their availability and told them I found out about them via Groupon. They told me that I didn't need to purchase thru Groupon, they would still offer me the discount. So I moved forward with the service and hired 3 guys for 2.5 hours. Everything went smoothly until the day of the move. Joe, a rotund, 55+ year old guy with a thick accent spent majority of the time talking rather than working. He had to constantly be reminded that he was there to do a job and that it wasn't social hour- not at my expense. Needless to say his lack of work, delayed the process. I felt like I paid for 3 guys, but only 2 of them were working. I was not happy about that. Once departed from the pick up location (Uhaul Storage), my fiancée made 3 stops and dealing with traffic on 45 South managed to make it to our new home in 45 minutes. It took the movers an hour and a half to arrive. I called to inquire about their ETA and Joe, who now is being very rude and difficult to work with, yells absurdities at me over the phone. When I expressed my discontent, he told me "I don't work for you. I work for the company and I will get there when I get there, don't call me again" and hung up on me. I immediately contacted management regarding his lack of professionalism and they assured me that they would correct it. I was told by Tom Boyd that he would call the driver and straighten it out. Once the movers finally arrived, they were moving in snail slow motion. I had to contact Tom again and so he dispatched a manager, said he'd arrive within 15 minutes. Another half hour went by as the workers refused to move anything. So I retreated back to my apartment as the 3 movers sat idly doing nothing. The manager, Jonathan, finally arrived and was very kind, he tried to rectify the situation by helping move the things because Joe refused to work. I'm infuriated at this point, our move began at 1pm and it is now after 4pm and our furniture is still sitting on their truck. So much time was wasted and the only reconciliation done by the company in the end was a discount of 30 minutes of the move time- which was the time the movers wasted by sitting there- so essentially they did nothing, because I wasn't planning to pay for that time anyway. They weren't moving! Simply put, their best was mediocre. I'll never use this service again or recommend it to anyone.

Caveat emptor (Buyer beware)!  We had an absolutely horrible experience with "Houston's Best Movers".  They had a crew of three and one worked very hard, one spent most of the time on the phone and taking smoking breaks and the third worked 5 minutes out of every 15.They had quoted us certain pricing but when it came time to pay them they changed pricing, added trip charges, and added a fee for using a credit card.  We refused to pay some of their imaginary charges but still paid much more than we should have. Finally, they were so careless with our furniture that almost nothing escaped unscathed. They were rude to our children, lazy, careless and dishonest.  Other than that ... they were fine.On a second move, we used Jaid at mymover.com and had a completely different experience.I would discourage anyone from using this company.

They helped us to move last year. At first we thought we got a deal from Groupon and then it turned out really bad experience! I wish I would check the review before I ask them.People were slow and delayed the process on purpose. It took more than 4 hours to do a two bed room apartment local move. Most disgusting thing is that one guy peed urine all over our new bathroom. Not recommend!

I wish I would have checked the Yelp reviews in addition to the google ones. I am pretty sure the google ones are paid/fake/the company friends or family.    I feel dooped.  I would not recommend this company to anyone. Finding good movers is a hard task I know, but keep looking.***edited addition. After making review got a kind call from the owner.  If you use this company just read the fine print before signing anything.

Sorry for the long warning letter! I've also placed a similar complaint to BBB (which they are NOT ACCREDITED by). Please DO READ completely before considering your move with Houston's Best Movers. A few things below may have only applied to me due to bad luck. But most things will apply to everyone! Yes, they have a gimmicky name, good website, use Groupons, etc. But DON'T BE FOOLED by the name. They are terrible. The actual move is quite BAD! But if you have any problems with the move or afterwards, then just forget it!! Please Read...I have several complaints both about the move & the company. My wife & I moved about 5 minutes down the road. Leading up to the move, we made about 8 trips filling an SUV & car moving a good amount of items. We figured this would make move faster. However, it did not. The move took almost the entire day. We had moved before in Chicago with the same amount of stuff & the entire move only took 7 hours. From what I could observe, the reasoning for the long time is simple...working slowly, multiple smoking breaks, taking breaks separately so they are not working together, multiple phone calls. In previous move, it felt like they wanted to get done ASAP (paid whole for the move). This move, it felt almost intentionally they were dragging things on as much as possible (paid by the hour). The move itself is careless. There was significant amount of DAMAGE to the moved pieces, furniture, and home. When packing, they will just throw items into a box based on whatever is nearby. Several pieces of furniture were damaged leading me to file a claim for damages. Also, we moved into a brand new house & they damaged parts of it including stairwell, doors, and floor. Afterwards, I asked them to look at damages. They came by & offered to pay for damages either by providing the handymen or having our builders do the work & reimburse us for this. Our builders did the fixing, but Houston's Best Movers have NOT paid us for this & attempts to reach them afterwards about this have been futile (more on this below).Another extremely upsetting thing is that they lost a large box of various valuable items. Some of these included wedding & engagement album, shoes & skates, old ipad, and many more (yes they just COMBINE WHATEVER they can together). The main mover noted he himself packed & loaded it but the items were never found again. Several thousand dollars of property was LOST, which was much more than the move itself. The items are nowhere to be found. This was a LOCAL move, meaning everything goes into a truck & out of that truck. If you lose items on a local move, you have to think that they either are ridiculously INCOMPETENT or are CROOKS. I went to the POLICE department to see if they can help me about this. However, they just laughed saying that this is a COMMON technique used by some movers to steal your stuff. They told me that there's probably no chance of recovering from them now as they likely either sold or threw away the items.I spoke with the company soon after about these issues. They ultimately couldn't help me & asked me to file a claim about the losses. Therefore, I filed CLAIM for the damages and the lost/stolen items. The house damages were repaired by my builder but I was NEVER reimbursed as promised. Afterwards, I had tried e-mailing or calling back the company to ask about the reimbursement or getting back the missing items with no avail. I also asked to speak to their owner about these issues, but have never heard from the owner. At that stage, they stopped responding to e-mails or phone calls! Before getting my money, they were reached almost immediately, but soon afterwards they cannot be reached! This is how they make their money...respond aggressively to get your move, then give you poor service. I mostly spoke with a guy named Tom. Definitely AVOID this guy, but more importantly AVOID the company all together.Once the claim process was done, I realized they were offering me a very SMALL fraction of money I claimed. When I called the claim company for a breakdown of money, I realized they were only paying for furniture damage. When asked about lost/stolen items, they indicated that Houston's Best Movers had rejected that these were actually missing. To me that was a slap in the face! Furthermore, the claim company referred me to the arbitration company that worked with Houston's Best Movers. However when I spoke with the ARBITRATION company, this the message I got from them:"Since your moving company Houston's Best Movers, is not a member of the United States Movers Association (USMA) we cannot handle the arbitration but they must have an arbitration program. They have no record of having an arbitration program and as they are required to have an arbitration program according to the Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations they can be fined for not having one."Clearly I did a bad job on my homework regarding finding the right movers. DON'T DO THE SAME!!
