Wow, what a nightmare! I had a flight booked the day after they were supposed to pack and pick up all my stuff.  They had given me a window of 2-6 p.m. and they showed up at midnight!!  The main guy (Matt) grumbled about having to do it at that hour.  I told him I was flying out in the afternoon the next day.  After some back and forth, I agreed to have them come back at 7 a.m.  That night they did dismantle by bed in my bedroom.  I noticed after they left that my Coach glasses, which I kept beside my bed went missing.  Next morning they showed up around 8 a.m.  This whole time I  am really stressed because I'm not sure if I can make my flight.  There was one small box with an open top and I had an airplane model in it.  They guys put it on a cart and were taking it down but I told them it had to be repackaged and the model was very delicate.  They assured me that they would repackage in the truck.  Sure enough the model arrived broken! Small world truly is small world.  I moved from Houston to California and it took forever for the boxes to arrive because they had trouble finding a partner company that would load my stuff.  I would not recommend this company, its a huge hassle all the way.

These guys moved me from my house to a condo in Houston.  I cannot find them on any Houston websites any longer so I'm reviewing them for their main location which is the address on my moving contract.   I selected them because of their reviews online which must have been written by their relatives.  I hired them to both pack and move me.  When the movers arrived at my new home, I noticed that my large glass tabletop had been wrapped in one small moving blanket for the move and I cringed when I saw this.  It weighs just over 100lbs and is GLASS.  When they unwrapped it, naturally there were two cracks, one two corners of the top.  First the guys tried to deny the damage and told me that they were there to begin with (really?), then they told me I needed to call the head office to file a claim.  I called the main office and was directed to complete a claim form and mail to a company that handles these types of claims. That company does not accept phone calls nor do they have an email address. You can probably tell where this is going.  After mailing the form in with pictures, about 2 months later I got a settlement offer. On a $800 relatively new, 86" x 45" x 1/2" thick glass tabletop, the claims company offered my $66.  I sent an email back to A Small World explaining the situation and that $66 was ridiculous for their movers incompetence.  Then "Lisa" at the company told me "what do I expect when I didn't buy the insurance"...Hmm, I don't remember being told I needed to buy insurance and they certainly didn't inform me that their guys would be careless with my things. Surely if they had informed me that they were going to break something, I would have purchased insurance.  Anyway, the owner called me and left me a message to call him. I called him back twice but he never returned my phone call.  Then I got a call from the crew leader from my move stating that he needed to come by and take pictures to see if it could be repaired. He said he would call me to setup the appointment but never called back so that never happened.As I continued to unpack boxes, I found numerous boxes that were packed very unprofessionally. They took heavy items and threw them in boxes with delicate items. They took a lampshade and put books on top of it...it was truly comical.  Anyway, I gave them an opportunity to make it right and they failed miserably. You know what?  A serious apology would have gone a long way. Just say you messed up and ask what you can do to make it better. Don't deny it or pretend like you'll fix it when you have no intentions of doing so.  Awful.

I read reviews but dont usually write any. I believe a business should always be given the opportunity to make it up to the customer before posting any negative reviews. However, when I told the owner of this company the reason I chose his business was because of the reviews, but I was dissatisfied with the service provided to me. His reply was "I dont worry about that". Well sir, if you dont worry about it, too bad. There are many of us for whom reviews count. Believe it or not, reviews do make a difference nowadays. Very poor, unreliable and unprofessional service on all levels. Many boxes arrived smashed, torn apart and dirty. On top of that, cheaters! The charge was four times higher than what they quoted me. Would not recommend this business at all.

I contacted Small World Movers four days before I needed a move. They followed up quickly, and we discussed a heavy piece of marble I had as well as standard items like appliances and furniture. They said they needed to check with their owner and would call me right back. After several hours had passed, I called again. I got a different person, who said she'd check with the owner and get back with me. She called back in an hour and said he didn't want to move the marble for liability reasons. Still, I liked their estimate for everything else, so I said we'd proceed. They sent me a contract, which I signed and returned. Then, ON THE DAY OF MY MOVE, I phoned to confirm everything was scheduled. As I was speaking with the guy I'd been working with, suddenly I was cut off. I called back and got another person, who said I wasn't on the schedule for that day. So I had NO MOVERS. Stay away from this company!

I agreed with SB. This moving company SUCKS!!!!!. All of my stuff were damaged and broken: Chandeliers, flower vases, and other glasswares. All of my stuff were with me for years, but now they are all broken. i was heart broken when I open the storage boxes and saw all of my collections are damaged. I was very upsad with their work. VERY! Too bad that  I cannot give this small world movers 0 star.
