Van Gogh Movers

I used Van Gogh movers over the 4th of July weekend 2016 to do an intense move from a third floor walk up in a historical home with a fussy landlord (was watching the movers like a hawk to document any damage) to another third floor walk up in a 3 family home a short distance away.There were 2 bosses, John and Phil, with Watson and one other can't remember maybe Lance? I was very nervous about getting my considerable amount of furniture, one very heavy piece, many wardrobe boxes and very large flat screen TV down 3 flights of stairs and up three in the new place that was a little narrower than where I was moving out.. I had already packed about 20 boxes but their was loose stuff that they were great about putting into a large bin and also had extra boxes and tape to put all the "MISC" . They marked all the boxes and wrapped all the furniture with tape. It took them longer than we were all anticipating to get me out of that apartment but they just kept working very steady, carefully  and with good humor which really helped me because I was a bit of a wreck... Then when we got to the new apartment about 5 hours later then they had to drag all the stuff up 3 flights of narrow stairway.  They put my bed back together and were careful to put the boxes where they were marked. This was Herculean task that they all were still working steady and kept in a good mood after another 2 or 3 hours and even had to figure out some difficult engineering to get a tall wood closet to clear the stairwell up to the third floor.  They were really nice and kept reassuring me through out the whole moving ordeal.  I got my full damage deposit back because they didn't cause any damage getting me out-even the fuss button landlord commented on how skilled and polite they were!  Yes, the move came in over the estimate but I honestly expected that because I wasn't completely packed and it was very strenuous with the amount of stairs and tricky stairwells getting out of the old place into the new place.  I invited them to stay for a cold beverage as we were settling the bill and they were great guys to hangout with too! I can vouch  for Van Gogh (Cookie, the lady in the office, was super helpful too) but if you have a difficult move (and most are in NYC) see if you can get John and Phil as your foremen , you can move in NYC without having a nervous breakdown if you have them managing your move xoxo !

I should have written this review 2 years ago when Van Gogh Movers moved me from one apartment to another.   I apologize to people who might have used them in the past 2 years because I did not know how to put up a review on Yelp and thereby might have discouraged you from using them.When James came to give me an estimate, he assured me that his team could pack and move me in 1 day.   Unfortunately I believed him.  We had a time frame as my new apartment said all moves had to be completed by 4:30 PM.   The day started out badly as they were late.  I knew I made a mistake using them when a candlestick was broken while they were wrapping it. They ran out of packing material and my husband had to search the building for newspaper to pack the rest of my fragile items.   It was raining when we arrived at the new building and they allowed the furniture to sit outside getting soaked.  They put my dining room chairs and coffee table into boxes without quilts and damaged the wood.   Every piece was badly scratch or broken.  Fortunately I had my own insurance.   The cost for restoring the damaged pieces was more than $4000.   DO NOT USE THEM UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE.

Right on time, good and reliable service, got the job done at a very professional way, were very careful and responsible, did not rush just to get the job done, very recommended!!!!

I used Van Gogh Movers about a month ago. James showed up prior to the move to give me an estimate. He was great! We did a total walk through of my 3 bedroom, 2 1/2 bath duplex apartment. We determined what they would pack and move, what was not going, and what I would pack and move to my storage space. His estimate was reasonable and about what I thought it would be. We agreed that they movers would come the day before at 9am and pack. They showed up on time and were ALL great at packing, fast and friendly. The next day (the move) they showed up on time again and were amazingly fast at filling up the truck with all my belongings.We then went to my new apartment where they unloaded the truck so Superman fast. Did I mention they also had a full flight of stairs to climb? Yes they did and all I had to do was stand there and point to where the boxes were going. Both crews were pleasant, friendly, and had a sense of humor that I really needed at times. Overall did a great job and I would totally recommend them!

WOW!!!! Let me just start by saying WOW!!!!  I cant begin to tell you how nervous I was to move my family of 4 and my whole life from San Diego to New York City... Seemingly impossible to do it with simplicity.  Well Van Gogh was AMAZING!!! Starting with being so on top of their quotes, the communication with James (Jimmy) couldnt have been better, emailing/texting/calling, you name it, he was AWESOME!  Then to top it off he made my move happen, I gave him oh about 3 days notice to get the movers to come to my house and pack my house and get it on the way to NYC.  So that Wednesday the movers were scheduled to arrive at 9 am, they buzzed me at 8:55 and were outside my door.  They, specifically Ofer and his guy Gabe, 2 people.... well they killed it.  They moved, wrapped and packed everything as tightly and best that they could.  They were AMAZING!  Next thought was for sure something is not going to make it or definitely not across country in time.  EVERYONE has horror stories about moving anywhere let alone across our great country.  Ofer gave me his cell and told me his route and said oh yeah I will be there on the morning of your scheduled delivery.  I only texted him and Jimmy about 85 times to confirm because I was travelling out without my family to have the delivery and set up without my two little ones running around in circles of them. Friday am (granted we didnt come for a week and a half) but they were there.  Not only there but Ofer was there around 6 AM to make sure they they could park the truck (giant truck) right in front of my door in Tribeca!!! UNHEARD OF!!! AGAIN AMAZING!!! The guys showed up with the truck from Brooklyn and there were three men this time plus Ofer.  Ofer to guard the truck and the three BEST MOVERS EVER!!! Johnny, Franky, and Winston (even with his tooth ache) were all AWESOME!! We loved them and they were so nice and patient and funny.  We didnt want them to leave!  :)  They were all amazing and I have to say if we move back to Cali... they are who I am using and would recommend to anyone and everyone!!! WE LOVE THEM!!!OH AND ALSO.. EVERYTHING was THERE AND NOTHING WAS BROKEN!! Hurry, I LOVE Van Gogh!!!! USE THEM!!!!
