I've had my fill of storage facilities (and many have had their fill of me & mine) but this is the only one I've returned to use again! Mohamed and Brenda are most courteous, helpful and professional. The spaces are clean and easily accessible.

A few things to remember regarding storage in NYC in general... they're all pretty much scammers looking to lure you in with cheap prices to only then jack your rent ASAP - assuming you're just too lazy to go get all your crap and move it somewhere else. That's probably a fair assertion for many New Yorkers. That said, here's my specific experience:I showed up 2 hours before closing on a Sunday and Brenda was extremely helpful, pleasant and attentive. I had seen a room on their site that I wanted, but, as I read, like most places in NYC, those were magically "no longer available" - and I was left to choose from the list at the office. I was told there was a "3'x4'" walk-in unit available. Was the "first month only $1" sale still on? I asked, (as indicated on their website.) But again - a bait-n-switch. "That's only for the lockers. You need to carry your stuff up a ladder to access those." Funny, it didn't mention that detail online. It simply said "First month, $1!!!" Yeah, so there was that. And this place is relatively affordable, so I was willing to overlook this. Like I said, this is par for the course for ANY storage space in NYC. I'm not singling them out. She then offered me what I thought was a reasonable price for a 3'x4' unit. I agreed to the price only to find out that an additional $8/ month insurance policy was REQUIRED unless I could show proof of homeowners/renters insurance. I did not have my policy on me at the time (crazy, right!?) but I'm pretty sure you cannot REQUIRE someone to buy insurance. Sending the contract to my lawyer tomorrow and I will update this review when I hear back. All this to say that $50 all of a sudden became $58 and guess what - they (like all storage spaces,) can raise the price whenever they want. Not to mention, there is a clause in the "insurance" policy exempting them from covering damage resulting from hurricanes and tornadoes. Strange, as they are one block from the east river and I am on the ground floor - Sandy would be reading ALL my books if I was here a few years back... Just sayin. Zone A, partly of Floodwaters! But here's the REAL not-cool part (and allow me to again state that this place is NOT unlike any other in this regard, they ALL do this,) I brought my shit to my "3 foot x 4 foot" walk-in unit and proceeded to measure it with a measuring tape. (It's an anachronistic relic from the time when men knew how to size things up all on their own,) and - low and behold... Guess what!?!?!? The room is 3'2" by 3'6". "What's the big deal?!" You may ask. Well - that's just less than a half-foot LESS than the description of the unit, so... I don't want to use the word "fraud" but if you're selling a 3x4 unit, it should BE 3x4, am I crazy!? I haven't read any storage reviews that didn't have one of these happening in there. So this is why I'm giving them 3 stars. Everything they offered me was what I expected. Unexpected charges, unrealistic demands, liberal interpretation of the word "size" and surprise charges. But it was all done with a smile and it seemed everyone there was happy and content with their lot at Tuck-It-Away... And although it is on the affordable end of storage spaces in Brooklyn, you get what you pay for. It's dusty, there's trash in the halls, there didn't seem to be much security or anyone paying attention. That said, I didn't feel my stuff was really in peril either. I think you're taking a risk anywhere, and I assume all of their insurance policies will probably pay you absolutely nothing if something happens, but since it's the case anywhere, this place will do just fine.  It's, well, it's just what it is.

After searching a million sites for a reasonable size and rates I chose tuck away. It was easy, professional and stress free through the whole process. The free pick up was great and the guy at the facility even helped me pack my things away.

After moving to New Zealand two years ago, I recently returned to Brooklyn to see how my worldly goods were doing packed away in deepest, darkest Vinegar Hill. I was  extremely nervous opening up the door, terrified of finding water damage or a newly-erected rat condo in my dresser. Joy of joys, everything looked great! Clean and dry, with only a few moths. The building is dark and old and spooky, but for what you're paying, it's a great deal. If you can get past the thinly-veiled contempt the ladies at the desk show when you ask even the simplest of questions, you'll do well here.

Ruby on the phone was extremely professional and helpful. She navigated me through options and provided all further details i enquired about. she was quick and sharp to respond to last minute changes. I got the storage because she found me the best solutions.Delfis at the site, was friendly and efficient. She helped me too in the last minute change of unit, and was extremely pleasant to deal with.Mohammed was the ultimate help. Showed me the different options but fast and to the point. In helping me choose the unit, he immediately understood my individual concerns and needs and found me a spot I felt satisfied with. He came out to measure my largest item to the inch, went back to the units and compared the fit, told me my matches. He has a sharp eye for measurements but these were concerns to the inch and detail. My suggestion is to go and look at the units as they vary immensily from floor to floor. The entrance and loading area are quiet which makes for a smoother move in.It's not the most up to date / renovated facility but they take care of you and it's good value.
