This was the worst moving company I have ever used. It took them THREE WEEKS to get my furniture here and not only that they LOST my TV and refused to reimburse me. I have been calling and calling but they have been non-responsive. Customer support is terrible. They are a mess. DO NOT USE THIS MOVING COMPANY. It is a complete and utter scam.

My husband and I used Excellent Choice Movers for our move from Washington, DC to Texas this summer. They postponed our move date at the last minute and then arrived later than they said they would because they got stuck in traffic. They took over 6 hours to load our furniture onto the truck (the last time we moved with the exact same furniture took about half that time), and they complained the entire time about how heavy our belongings were. 1. I am  small and out of shape and could lift most of our boxes myself. 2. We told them that we had solid wood furniture when we initially got our quote and scheduled the move. 3. Movers are hired to move heavy things - it is part of the job description. They took all of our belongings outside and piled them out around the truck. All 4 of them were standing outside (but apparently not actually doing anything) and I was inside trying to tidy up after them (because they left all of their empty tape rolls all over the place). One of the movers then came in and told me that someone had just stolen my husband's bike, which had been left propped up against the back of the truck. Instead of taking responsibility for allowing someone to walk up and steal our bike, they made racist comments about our neighbors and implied that a couple of guys next door must have done it. When I called customer service to notify them of the theft, I was told that "it was not the movers' responsibility to babysit our belongings" and that they wouldn't do anything to compensate us for our stolen bike. They finally hit the road and told us they would call when our stuff was loaded on the big truck and leaving the warehouse - this was on June 8. On June 17, we were told our stuff was on the truck and heading to Texas. We didn't hear anything from them for 11 days so we eventually called back on the 28th and were told that our belongings had been unloaded off the truck and put back in the warehouse. Nobody had bothered to tell us that until WE called them. We waited an additional 4 days before our stuff was reloaded onto the truck and actually left the warehouse. We understood that they couldn't give us a specific date when our stuff would arrive in Texas, but we asked if we could at least know how many other stops the truck would make between leaving New Jersey and arriving in Texas. We were told that they didn't know (how would they not know?!?) but that we would get 24 hours notice before the truck arrived. At 8pm on Friday, July1, we received a call saying our stuff would be dropped off at 10am the following day. I was an English major in school, but even I know that is not 24 hours. We were out of town for the holiday weekend, so my husband had to drive 4 hours back to meet the movers the next day. When our stuff arrived, many of our pieces of furniture were scratched and beat up (corners broken, etc.). I am generally a rational and understanding person, but this entire move was terrible from start to finish. I hope that nobody else has to deal with what we went through because this truly made an already stressful situation even worse.

This company was assigned by the booking agent we utilized when moved from eastern Penna. to Chandler, Arizona. When I read the only review I could find, I was truly worried. However, those fears ended up unfounded. The driver, Ray, and his helper, Steve, were both polite, professional, and very hard working. Local lumpers (manual labor helpers) were supposed to show up, however, it ended up just to be the 2 of them and they just worked hard and got the job done. The only damage done was to an antique chair and my Honda GL1500 motorcycle. Neither was serious damage and both are fixable. The driver and helper apologized profusely and felt genuinely terrible. We are very pleased with the final results of the move, driver, helper, and company. I would highly recommend them to anyone.

Can I say 0 stars? I was brought to this company through a broker and I wish I had read the Yelp reviews before I had decided to move ALL of my belongings with them. One of the other reviews called this company "greedy" and that is SPOT ON. Don't sneeze during the moving process, they might charge you for that. Oh and they will insist that extra charge be paid in cash. Let's start with the pick up, shall we? I was given a time frame of 12pm-4pm. They called me at 8am saying they were 10 minutes away. Then they blamed "someone" who was supposed to call me, although if seems like that person would've been May who I guess is the manager and she was with the truck. Thank God they came early though because it took the four of them four hours to move my one bedroom apartment. Which took less than an hour to move into, I might add. As May inspected each piece of furniture they was an additional charge for basically everything you could imagine. May just sat and watched as the other three movers packed and carried my stuff, and chalked up every additional charge. By the end of the move they asked me if I had trash so they could throw away the 40 rolls of tape they used for me to then dispose of them. After paying a deposit, and then paying for pick up they want another payment at delivery for the remaining balance in CASH or money order. I didn't want to do that so I asked to pay the whole amount in full at pick up on my credit card. They charged me a 3.5% service fee for doing so, which no one warned me about before booking. They also told me that having two delivery locations was "no problem" but guess what, that costs extra too. I'll cut to the chase. I waited 10 days for my belongings to be moved from NYC to D.C. Which by their estimate was only going to take 2 days but maybe up to 5 days. When they arrived they counted how many steps to move from the truck to the house. More than 75 steps costs you $1 a step. And then any more than 7 stairs is an additional $75. Who has only 7 stairs to anywhere? If you have a second stop you don't get the initial 75 steps, you have to pay outright $1 for each step. AND they want it all paid in cash! Remember earlier I said I didn't want to pay with cash or money order so I paid for everything up front on the credit card? Apparently that doesn't count. I still have to pay cash. They had the audacity to ask me to go to an ATM. I refused because that is not what I was told. After realizing how upset I was May told me they wouldn't charge me for the stairs and would let me pay with a credit card. Still, it was an extra $470!!!I have moved 3 times in the last 2 years. This was the most miserable, most painful, longest, and most expensive move I've endured. An additional note: they are apparently "not allowed" to take any trash, so all the packing materials THEY used and then unpacked, YOU must dispose of yourself. Please note that I do not blame the movers because they are only following orders from management. But this company is shady and a huge rip off. I assure you I will be checking my credit card statement for any extraneous charges. PLEASE do not use these movers ever, at all, for any reason. They do not care about you or your time.

Booked to use this company at the advice and booking of a broker. The broker was excellent they helped us navigate through this company's bureaucracy. However no one can navigate through stupidity ignorance and attitude which is all I got in response to my belongings and the sacred things I held dear that was part of my heritage. The driver who showed up 7 days after we moved only after I had my lawyer call. Now he said he was alone how do you unpack a 18-wheeler alone? I have a 80 year old husband. Excellent is not the word I would put in their description if I could have given them zero Stars I would have he is now looking for some day laborer to help him move my antiques. They are going to be handled by a day laborer that gets paid and has no idea how to move things wonderful! I can't say enough about this company all I can tell you is if you use it you're going to pay for the nose because I used them from Jersey to South Carolina and it was a quarter of of what my deposit of my house payment was. The first person you speak to is very sweet and then you get the movers actually almost had a fight with my neighbors Young Adult son because when I asked why did you take those boxes they were for Verizon and they took my coffee pot when I told him not to he started yelling at me that I should put tags on them not to pack them. I did not know that no one told me that I packed three boxes that said the first 24 hours for home they were in another movers box so I thought they were safe from them nothing is safe from them they didn't create my grandfather clock they just raped a rug over it now I have to pray to God when it comes which by the way they are late that I can actually have my clock in one piece which was my father's prized possession. Someone told me moving is like having a fire in your house with these people you wish you had at least a fire in your house maybe you could save a few things never never use them if your broker says to tell them no never. I will tell my broker never to give anyone this moving company ever again they promised a lot and all they did was complain have a fight with my neighbor's son because he stood up for me because they were being rude and spoke a different language most of the time that you could not understand in front of you. If you like disrespectfulness nastiness and complaining by all means take this company also when they finish packing despite what they did to try to be friendly I gave them a tip for the men who worked with them little did I know after I told them I did it the same manager I told I did it also hit my husband up for a tip thank the Lord I told him already I did it so he declined.
