I hired two "moving helpers" from Verlys via the online reservation system on the official Uhaul website. Instead of checking Yelp reviews as I usually do before hiring a company like this, I assumed Uhaul vetted these companies in some way as part of their recommendation at checkout. Because of a delayed closing, I needed help packing up a 20' Uhaul truck on one day, and the same truck unloaded the next day, all paid upfront on the Uhaul website (through a partnership with movinghelp.com). On the first day, the moving helpers arrived over 3 hours late. As moving days often require reasonable timelines be followed (to accommodate truck reservations, cleaning/other services scheduled and condo building and freight elevator schedules), this was difficult to juggle, especially at the last minute. Ultimately things worked out, and when they finally arrived, the guys were efficient and worked pretty hard. I was grateful for their help. I was also assured they had an unusually busy day and don't typically run so far behind. The next day, I was told the moving helpers would arrive around 4pm. That would have been perfect. I received a text message around then saying they were running about an hour behind schedule. No problem. A long night of waiting and texting back and forth with the company made shorter, the moving helpers finally arrived shortly before midnight--nearly 8 hours late. I still had to return the Uhaul truck after it was finally emptied. Again, the guys worked hard and got the truck unloaded pretty quickly when they finally showed up. But, arriving so many hours late is insane.

Do not waste your time. If something goes wrong as we all know things do they will screen their calls and do everything to avoid you. I can not get them to return my phone calls and when I use other numbers and they answer I am told our case was sent to claims but no follow up info can be given. Today a month after they scratched our wood floors and several pieces of our furniture I got a hold of them and I was hung up on with no return call or answer to my follow up  calls.

We ordered this moving company through Hire A Helper and scheduled them to arrive between 1-2pm but as close to 1pm as possible. The day before the moving, the company confirmed the time saying it was all good.The company called at 12:38pm saying they were running late on another job and will show up slightly later, now between 2-3pm and that I would be notified when they were en route. I called at 2:46pm asking for an update and the woman on the phone said she would call me back immediately. 10 minutes later, I still hadn't heard from her so I called back. She told me that there is no one available in the area to help and that my crew probably won't be available until around 4:30pm. She asked if I still wanted them and I said we'd be done moving by ourselves by then so no, I'd like to cancel. Then she suggested that if I were to use them again or reschedule (at that point I told her I wouldn't be), then she continued, and said I should book directly with them so I can save some money.Her audacity and lack of helpfulness was horrible. My husband and I were the only ones who then tried to move our 3 bedroom apt from a u-haul into a moveable storage container. Half way through the move (RIGHT after I called a second time) we got caught in a horrible thunderstorm that left 1/3 of our stuff soaking wet and our 4 dining chairs and small cabinet ruined, our mirror/shelf set soaking and maybe warped and covered in mud and a lot of our blankets and towels that need to be dry for storage, also soaking wet. The chairs are special antiques and have water marks all over them.I do not recommend them to anyone.

We booked this company 6 weeks prior to our move. They called to confirm. Seemed like it was going to go well. We were scheduled for 3 men at 10am. The day before I received a call that due to a scheduling error they needed to push us back to noon. Ok no problem. The day of the move I received a call that they were broke down on the highway. They pushed the time from noon to 2 and the amount of movers from 3 to 2. As of 3pm, still no movers. I called, no answer. Call again, no answer. Finally on the 6th call they advised that they don't know when the movers will be here but they will check. I did receive a call saying it was going to be another hour. So my 10am move did not start until 5pm. I can understand that things happen but this is over the top.

DO NOT HIRE this company to do your move. If I could give 0 stars, I would. Movers showed up late, then took 13 hours to complete a simple move that according to the mover himself said should have only taken 3-5 hours tops. One of the two guys barely lifted a thing & I found myself carrying an equal amount of my own stuff for the entire move. I have experienced other movers, and trust me these guys are sub par. They even broke a piece of my furniture into pieces & promised to replace it, telling me to send pics and measurements, then stopped returning or answering my phone calls. Absurd that this company is still in business. Do yourself a favor and call another mover, it's not worth your time, money, or the inconvenience to deal with the inadequate job these guys do or the terrible customer service they provide. I've never heard of a moving company breaking your furniture, promising to pay/replace, then not answering or returning any of your phone calls! Disgusting! They should be ashamed of themselves. Do not allow this  despicable company to remain in business!!! Take your money elsewhere!
