This company offered excellent packing services. When helping me organise my boxes for simple unpacking, they took the time to meticulously wrap and name each item. Highly Advised!

I don't think I've ever written a negative review before in my life. But I had to write one because of our experience with Oakdale. I wish I had listened to the negative reviews I read before booking! It's hard to sum up all the things that happened but I will try to be as concise as possible.

We told them up front our budget, and they came in just over (after asking us to list the items in our home that we would be taking). We felt comfortable moving forward (Jenn assured us not to be worried about the negative reviews). Three days before our move, Thomas called us to confirm everything that we would be taking. We went through item by item and our bid DOUBLED. We were frustrated but took ownership that we had probably misunderstood on our initial call that we were supposed to list every item possible (including boxes).

Thomas was great to work with and helped us come to a good arrangement where we met in the middle on price. We went through our house box by box, item by item, and told him EXACTLY what we would be taking. We also agreed that the movers would pack up our stuff (including mirrors, tv, etc) for a flat rate of $500.

The day of our move came and the movers showed up around 4pm. The guy in charge of the moving was visibly frustrated. Oakdale had not sent him the updated contract with the additional items they would need to fit in the truck. AND they did not tell him that they would be packing our stuff. He was flustered and stressed about getting to his next job in Kansas City on time (5 hours away). He walked around our house and made a “visual estimate”, telling us that our bid would once again DOUBLE. **Even though I walked around the house and showed him that the EXACT items in our house were listed on the contract. I even overestimated the boxes we would need for our kitchen and bedrooms by more than double!** In addition, he told us that he would not honor the $500 flat rate of packing our stuff and that it would be over $1,000.

They told us we had the option to either pay the price, or go to the square footage on the contract and leave the remainder of the stuff that wouldn’t fit. So basically, pay a fortune or lose half your stuff. We were so frustrated and felt like we were backed into a corner. We had to decline their services after trying to work through it for two hours. We had to rent a Uhaul that night, pack everything and move out so that we could still close on our house the next day.

To sum it up, we would NOT recommend this moving company. The cost of their services were fundamentally misleading from the beginning, and the contract was not in good faith. They would not work with us - and when we have tried to share our side of the experience they have not listened, they took weeks to respond, and then refused to refund our deposit. DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND DO NOT BOOK WITH THEM.
