I had a very small move but decided to get a moving company to make sure it went smoothly as the housemate situation I was leaving was not a good one.I chose San Jose Movers from a list on a third party website since they said they provided packing material and wardrobe boxes.  After a few initial short messages, the day and time of the move was set to my satisfaction.  There was email and text message communication a few days before to confirm.  And the movers called an hour before to let me know they were on the way.The two-person crew arrived on time.  They efficiently packed my stuff and they were careful to ask about things that were not being moved.  As it was raining, they put down protection for the floor and stairs at the entry.They loaded quickly and drove straight to the destination, which was only about 4 miles away, arriving at the same time as I did although we took slightly different routes.  Again, they were considerate of the weather and entry/floors.  They finished the move promptly and efficiently.  Nothing was broken or lost.Even with the "double drive time" which added 15 minutes, and extra time hassling over a box spring that would not fit down the narrow stairs to come out of the house, they finished under the 3 hour minimum.  There was an additional charge of $30 for use of the wardrobe boxes and some other boxes, but overall it was well worth the cost.The name of the movers IS confusing, and then I was asked to make the check out to an individual, so I was a little concerned about that.  Clearly they do some subcontracting and they really should make that clear up front or pay their contractors out of their own bank account to keep things clean.  But the check cleared okay and I received no further communication from San Jose movers other than asking me if the move went okay.  I went from 5 to 4 stars due to this minor concern.I would recommend them, with the caveat from reading other reviews that you make sure you communicate with them and details are clear.

I used Yelp to find movers and chose this company based on the reviews. While the overall company may be good, they contract out their movers, and I did not get so lucky.My move was set to be easy. I had moved from Portland 3 weeks prior and sublet a place until finding a permanent apartment. ALL of my stuff was still in boxes, and I have only a studios worth of belonginings. To give some perspective it took me and my mom an hour to unload when I first moved.The movers showed up 15 minutes late, then had 15 minutes worth of paperwork for me to do (I was in a serious time crunch which I made clear when i made the reservation). Once they got started I made it very clear I did not want things wrapped in plastic, just my TV. I offered to sign something saying if it broke they were not liable, and simply asked that they use blankets as I did when I drove my stuff 11 hours in a u-haul. We literally talked about every item individually and I clearly stated I did not want it wrapped in plastic.I had to leave to go sign my lease for my new apartment and left the 2 guys to finish up, since they were half way done, I assumed they would only be a half hour more. An HOUR AND A HALF later they called saying they were on the way. When they arrived, I looked in the truck to see that all my stuff had been wrapped in plastic. I asked them point blank "If I had stayed, would you have wrapped this stuff" and they replied "no." Mind you- you pay by the hour, so they scammed me. I left, they disregarded my wishes, and wrapped the stuff so they could waste another hour and charge me for it. SHADY!While unpacking I helped the entire time attempting to speed the process along. They dropped several of my boxes and literally made eye contact with me and did not say so much as an "oops" or "i'm sorry." Also, just a reminder: This company advertises NO HIDDEN FEE's. Simply $99 an hour, truck, movers, supplies included. If you are new to California, or just not a frequent mover, make sure to familiarize yourself with the double drive time rule, because you will be charged for that. I was unaware, and felt pretty shitty when I found out I had to pay 30 min worth of time for a 15 minute drive.Needless to say, I was very disappointed and frustrated by the end of this move and honestly would have rather rented a truck and done it myself. It would have been cheaper, and a better experience.

What a great experience!  You never know for sure if you get the right crew to move your precious furniture and belongings. San Jose Movers kept their promise with price and on time for appointment and sent the awesome  Cristiano, Eduardo and Jesse.  They knew how to work together and kept communicating to get it right without damage when we pointed out extra care needed on some items. Very sincere team and worth praise. Done fast and careful and will absolutely recommend this group and this team in particular. A move on budget, on time, no damage, pleasant workers...what a relief from what is often the most stressful thing. People need to hear about good companies and people. Thanks guys!

San Jose Movers aka Ninja Movers were in a word, Excellent. They were punctual, highly accommodative and tuned to our needs, thoroughly professional and very careful. Not a single item was damaged in a 10+ hour move from our house to another location. I also found their rates to be very reasonable and will be using them for two other moves that I have planned.Based on my very positive experience with them, I highly recommend these guys for any move you may have coming up.

This was by far the best experience I've ever had with a moving company. We hired 3 movers (Leon, Jose and Virgilio) to move us from Oakland to Concord, they were extremely hard working and fast! I really appreciated how careful they were in wrapping up our furniture and how communicative Leon was about all aspects of the move. Hopefully we don't have to move again any time soon, but if we do, I would hire them again AND I would recommend them to any of our friends. Thanks guys!!
