I hired Finch Moving to move my belongings from my home in Lemon Grove to the new home in Lakeside. The move started on 5/21/21 and was stopped on 5/22/21. I have previously used this company to relocate, and so I wasn't concerned with hiring them again. During the initial phone consultation and on both days of the move I explained that there was only one item that I didn't want damaged. It was a hand-crafted hardwood gaming table that was custom built. I told them how expensive it was, and verified that they were able to move it without damage. The movers assured me it would be taken care of. On the second day of the move, they transported the table. On arrival at the new home, I discovered that one of the drawers of the table had been damaged. I brought the damage to the attention of the movers present, who told me that I had to e-mail the damage and pictures to "contact@finchmoving.com", which I did. Within minutes of reporting the damage, the movers began quickly unloading the contents of the truck and placing it under our carport. When I questioned this, I was told that they were done for the day, and was asked to pay for the day's work. I did, and the movers left. They never said that they wouldn't return.
I have sent three e-mails and called their number multiple times from different phone numbers, but the representatives who answer refuse to actually assist me. I've been told that the "person" who handles claims is "Out of the country" or "will call me back tomorrow". I waited a couple months before posting any kind of negative review, as I sincerely believed that the company would do right by its customers.
It's taken months to get most of the stuff that was left outside of my house unpacked, as we have four children, one with special needs, and I work full time as a Registered Nurse (and we all know how crazy the last year has been for healthcare workers).
Mind you, I did not make a big deal about clearly labeled boxes of medications being placed in my 3 year old son's closet, nor the other boxes and furniture that were dropped in random places, despite also being labeled. I did not seek replacement of the pieces of my daughter's bed that were misplaced (I had to purchase an entire new bedroom set, as her carriage bed's screws/hardware were nowhere to be found). I did not seek replacement for damage to the regular dining room table. I didn't even make a big deal about the damage to window screens they removed because they wanted to attempt to move things into a room through a window. I merely sought to get their insurance to pay for damages to a piece of expensive furniture.
Overall, I would have to say that the customer service of this company is no longer as good as it was in 2017, and I do not recommend them to anyone.

On the 25th of July 2019, I hired two movers to move my items from Concord to San Francisco.

The services we agreed on were as follows.
Move boxes from Concord to San Francisco.
Move large furniture between 1342 Jones St - Apartments #3 and #7.
Payment will be on an hourly basis.

Their expected arrival time was between 8 am to 9 am. However, I received a call from dispatch at 9:30 am informing me that their truck had broken down and they were sending another truck on the way. Six hours later, they arrived at 2:30 pm.

I drove from San Francisco to Concord at 7 am so I can be there on time for when they arrive for the pickup. But instead, it was the other way around and then we ended up driving in rush hour traffic to get back to San Francisco when we left.

I requested them to move a large cabinet from Apartment #7, from the 3rd floor to the 1st floor. They told me that they should be able to figure it out. I took their word for it and I went on to join a conference call so I couldn't watch over while they work. And it took them an hour and 30 min to move the cabinet downstairs.

When I came outside, they already made it to the very last turn of the stairs and told me that they need to damage the back of the cabinet because they are having trouble getting it over the stairway railing. I told them if they can do it without damaging the cabinet and they said okay, they will figure it out. And so, I went back inside and heard the cabinet crack as they scraped it over the handrail which was also damaged in the process. They should have told me that they might have trouble with the cabinet before moving it down or even earlier on. And they should've properly protected the cabinet with wraps or blankets prior to the move.

Aside from breaking the back of the cabinet, the legs were also chipped and I found severe scratches, dents, and scrapes in the stairwell on all three floors. The movers did not tell me about it until I saw it myself. And this all happened a month after my apartment renovated which means the stairwell was newly painted.

I initially planned to sell my cabinet which I bought for $3500 and was in pretty good shape but unfortunately, I was unable able to sell it due to its condition after the movers brought it downstairs. We even ended up paying to have the cabinet dumped. On top of that, I also paid $900 to a painting company to fix the damaged walls and stairs that had scratches, dents, and scrapes.

Additionally, they were six hours late and got stuck in rush hour traffic, which would not have happened had they arrived during the original time. And because the entire moving process took 8 hours, I ended up not moving some of the large furniture pieces because they finished very late at 9 pm. At that point, I decided not to pay for any more of their time to prevent further cost and damage. So in the end, I ended up disassembling and moving the remaining furniture myself.

Their response didn't help at all as well.
“Someone will take it.”
“We have people that fix these things all the time.”
“Our insurance will cover it.”

I have photos of the damages and I can also provide proof that the hallways and stairs were recently painted that time.

I understand as a moving business, situations like this can happen. And I hoped there was an agreement on how to remedy these damages. I did not receive any compensation from Finch Realty or Finch Moving nor from their insurance company. I did not wish to leave a negative review and trigger legal action from these issues. However, I haven't heard from them since they left and took photos of the damages, and so I am just leaving this review for other people to know.

We had such a great experience with Finch moving! Alex, Anthony, and Andrew were fantastic. They were polite, professional, efficient.  The truck and all the equipment was very clean and well-maintained.  The crew had a real system going and they were super efficient about how they moved and staged everything.  We were pretty well packed to begin with, but this crew was really impressive to watch. They were very strong guys that moved very quickly, but they were still very gentle and took great care in moving and transporting our belongings.  They didn't bang or slam stuff around at all.  It was amazing to watch them work.  Most people we've told we are moving reply with "Moving is the worst!" but I have to tell you, moving with this crew made it not so bad at all.

*PICK FINCH FIRST - PLEASE READ**ABSOLUTELY AMAZING SERVICE AND PRICE*Firstly, we all know moving is a pain, but with FINCH ITS AWESOME. This should be the name that pops up FIRST for movers. I hear the truck leaving and I'm already writing this review. Zach and Matt were TIP TOP PROFESSIONALS. If I had a business they'd be the face of it. Zach politely called and ensured he'd be at the pickup location on time and he indeed was (8-830). (I even had the wrong location which posed no issue for the guys as they followed me to the correct destination which was 2 miles away - silly me.)Secondly, after reviewing documentation they got straight to work then quickly and carefully loaded the truck in a hr. I had a 10 X 10 full unit. They even picked up the lose items I couldn't pack in a box and bundled them in the truck (they did NOT have to do this I read in the contract).Thirdly, the drop off was 18mi away and up 3 flights of stairs with no elevator. These guys still met the 3 hr min time allocation. They even offered to help put together bedding and any other knick knacks that needed to be pieced together. I wanted to feed these guys afterwards, but hopefully the Gatorade and tip helped. Why mention the tip? Well because their pricing and service is top notch! The money I allocated for movers I put back into savings because of Finch! Their conversations we APPROPRIATE and the guys had AMAZING attitudes! Lastly, this was an emergent move. I called in on the 19th and they said it would be no issue to have 2 guys and a truck between 8-830 the next day.  I am a service member and they included a 5% discount. The BEST movers I've experienced hands down, without question. Zach, Matt I hope you read this, thank you very much. (Not once did they badger me to write a review for them, their work speaks for itself).

What a service. We moved yesterday, and they were super careful, great at wrapping our paintings, nice furniture, etc. But...where these guys shined was when we got to our new place...to find out the elevator was out for the day. They called in another guy to increase the manpower, and moved everything up 3 flights of stairs. Everything they did was super efficient, and they were incredibly professional to work with from first call through payment. I've already recommend them to others.
