I was moving and left calling a service til the last minute but luckily Alex was able to accommodate me.I had a small move which was also local though they do travel to move as well (the moving team had just returned from Indio the night before).I cannot say enough about the terrific team.  Harvey, King, and Ronie were truly professional, courteous, and speedy.  It took about 2 and a half hours including packing the trucks, disassembling my bed, and backing into two less than ideal alleys.It was such a hot day so I made sure to provide gatorade and water for them.Initially I had scheduled with Alex 2 moving guys at a rate of $ 70 hr with a 3 hour minimum.  With various fees including fuel charges and supplies (like shrink wrap) last year my total was $ 267 not including the 30 each I tipped the movers.This year I was scheduled for the same 2 movers at a 3 hour minimum but ended up receiving a personal call from Alex that the movers didn't finish a job so I would have 3 movers who would finish in less time so it would be approximately the same amount.  3 movers cost $105 an hour.  I firmly told Alex I did not want to pay starting at $ 300 and he said it would cost about the same since they'd be quicker with an extra body.Moving day arrived and the movers were prompt and on time and quick to load the truck.  Harvey is an experienced mover who leads his team in an organized fashion.  They were great and I was really pleased with how they handled my bed and other belongings.We called Alex because they didn't have my agreed upon rate written down and over speaker phone I heard him ask how long he thought it would take and to charge me about the same as last time ($ 267).  Once the move was completed however he told Harvey to charge me $ 290.  That included fees like fuel and shrink wrap.At this point I was exhausted (it was a hot day) and wasn't about to argue over the discrepancy.  However since I did NOT request a 3 mover team if I were Alex I would have charged me the same amount as my last move just because I didn't request the change.Alex called me last night to follow up and make sure everything was fine and then proceeded to lecture me that every move is different.  Guess what? I get that.  I told him I understand but that he should not have agreed upon the same price and then changed it last minute.  Most people would have thrown a fit.  He also told me about a referral program that if I refer a friend I would receive 5% on my move.  I was a little annoyed with his tone but I cannot say enough about Harvey, King, and Ronie.  Moving is stressful and they made it easier.  They are based in the valley so next time I have a local Westside move I might go with a closer company.

Shady McShaderson.This experience was a nightmare. Called three times and was told "someone will call you back" and no one did. I should have seen that as a red flag. After finally getting a hold of someone, we booked them for a 1BR move. They called me the morning of the move and said they were sending a smaller truck than anticipated (some transmission issue) but that they were sending an extra guy, which was weird but whatever. We still ended up getting everything in the smaller truck with no additional trips. When the truck was loaded and ready to go, the movers couldn't get it to start. Something about the battery. Totally unprofessional.  When the job was done, the movers called in to Alex (owner) to get the final total and it was DOUBLE what they had quoted me. And, they charged for materials, plastic wrap, tape, etc. When booking I asked, "Do you plastic wrap the furniture?" Alex said, "Sure we do no problem." No mention of a charge. The business end of this company is not well run and I think they try to take advantage of people. Don't let that happen to you.I will say: the movers who moved us were awesome. They are independent contractors and were wonderful. This review is in no way a reflection of them. They worked hard, took great care of our stuff and did a phenomenal job.

I have been using American Best Moving for over 20 years and have complete faith in them.  They have helped me with numerous moves, both residential and commercial, and I have referred them to my business management clients.  Everybody was satisfied.  I have know the owner Alex for many years and he is a hard working man.  We even packed up a house together for one of my clients who was out of town working  as he was short staffed.  This is where his true  nature and integrity shown bright.

I'd like to preface this by explaining that I've moved 10x in 10 years and four of them were cross-country moves.  I have had many experiences with movers and this is the only time I have ever needed to complain.I will give American Best Moving credit where it is due.  The movers who picked up our stuff in Pasadena did a great job.  They were really thorough in wrapping things up to make sure that nothing was damaged or scratched.  If we'd moved locally and had only to deal with those 3 guys, I think we could have had a good experience.My husband and I moved to North Carolina, and they agreed to deliver our things one week from the date that they picked it up.  Yes it's a tight window, but they said they could do it and that's why we hired them.On the Wednesday they were supposed to deliver, they said that our things would be here until the weekend.  After that, people stopped responding to our messages or claimed that they couldn't help us.  Our things didn't show up that weekend, and we couldn't get a single person to talk to us...people just shuffled us around to other people or promised to call us back and didn't.On Tuesday of the week after we should have gotten our stuff, we were finally able to speak with a manager, Alex, who promised that our things would arrive with 24-48 hours.  They did not.On Thursday, we got a phone call from the driver saying that our things would arrive between 4-6pm the next day.  My husband took a half day off work.  Our things didn't show up.  Friday night, we called Alex who responded that b/c it was after 7pm, nothing could be done and we'd need to wait until morning to know if the driver was even on his way.  Eventually, he gave us the dispatcher in New York's number.The dispatcher in NY told us that our stuff was in Alabama and wouldn't be in NC until the next week but he didn't know when exactly.Our things finally got here Sunday morning and only because we demanded that we be the first stop in NC.  The loading dock was already occupied by other movers because we hadn't been able to make a reservation (since we had no clue when they would show).  Because of this, the movers charged us an ADDITIONAL $100 for making them wait.  Obviously, the movers found it unacceptable to wait 1.5 hours even though they'd made us wait 12 days after the promised delivery date with no refund.Some of our things were damaged and one box is missing b/c our things were not shipped cross-country in the truck they were picked up in but were repacked (who knows how many times).  Do NOT use this company if you aren't moving locally.  They have by far the worst customer service I have ever encountered.I filed a BBB complaint against them for the $100 and the cost of an airbed and the responded by calling me a liar.

Everything started out great.  The girls on the phone I got moving bids from where very nice and professional.  The movers. Only one word, AMAZING! Then at the end of the very long day, I got to deal with the movers boss, Alex. AWFUL!!!!  He is rude, unprofessional, bully and thief. I was supposed to be charged $66.00 an hour for each additional hour over the first 5 hours I was quoted for. For four workers.  It took 8 hours for the move.  He bullied me, my boss and his own employees 'til both my boss and I grew tired of his crap and paid the $110.00 each additional hour.  Even though I have e-mails from his employees with the $66.00 price.Not to mention the original first 5 hours was supposed to include blankets, supplies, gas and milage, he added $70.00 for that.But wait! This gets even worse... I had to pay for the extra hour that the movers were late because they had to put the dolly and blankets in the truck.This was all supposed to cost $718.00.  I paid $1115.00. The movers were great.  They should really go to another company. Or the company should get rid of their in house crook.
