So the moving experience was great. Moving from storage to a second floor apartment took just under 2 hours. They somehow fit my giant couch through that small door and made it look easy. In all those boxes I only had one broken plate... And that could've been when I moved it into storage. So why the 3* rating... Marvin keeps trying to add me on LinkedIn and Instagram. It's just a little creepy. I'm sure it's a "people you may know" feature based on email, but dude you don't know me. Please stop.

I have used Marvin's Moving twice.  Once when I moved to Houston and now for my second move.  They are great.  Super fast, professional, and careful.  They haul items like pros and always took extra care when I requested it.  They took initiative to pack a few things I had loose and took my bed apart and set it up without even asking or instructing.  I will call you back when I move again.

I'm not sure why the reviews are so great. When I spoke to Marvin, he would not give me his TX DOT registration number (just trying to be careful, per the TX govt website recommendations re hiring movers). Nor would he send over any contract or paperwork so that I could hire them. His fees seemed reasonable: $75/hour, minimum 2 hours and a $40 drive fee. But why no paperwork? Is it about tax avoidance or is it about not being legit?

Called Marvin at the last minute for a same day move. He and his crew arrived promptly and did a good job moving my items and setting up my bedroom set. Will definitely be using him for my future moving needs.

What a difference a couple years makes...or maybe it's just getting the right crew.  When we had a change in work circumstances and sold our home in Tomball to move to a temporary apartment in Sugar Land, it was a no brainer to book Marvin's again since they were so great the first time.  Since we were moving things into an apartment and to storage in a garage next to the apartment, we chose to go with 4 men and a large truck. We had pretty much everything packed and labeled for the apartment or storage. How did they go wrong? Well...first they arrived a little late, but we can work with that....but then they were slow (this move took just about 8 hours rather than less than 5 like last time, and last time we had fewer guys).  They didn't disassemble things or pack well, so everything didn't make it on the truck, causing Hubby and I to have to make 6 more trips with cars to finish moving.  Then they got lost due to their GPS on the way to the apartment, and wanted to charge us for the hour they were lost.  Then they got boxes meant for storage in the apartment and things we needed in the apartment in storage.  When we went to get the boxes we needed out of the garage, what do we see but many boxes marked "Fragile" and "Crystal" stored upside down and on the bottom of piles, getting smashed in-as we are not going to unpack all these boxes until we are in our next home, I have no idea if anything is broken.  Finally, we found a seat cushion for our outside chair sliced open (they had put it on upside down to hide it) and the back of a dining table chair broken (see pictures).Sorry Marvin, but we will not use you again.
