After this, I don't know how I will ever go back to moving my own items! I had three car loads of items (misc boxes and heavy disassembled furniture in boxes) and my 2 bellhops got them done in record time. I got a courtesy text earlier in the week from my lead bellhop as well as one the morning of. Both bellhops were speedy, courteous, and very prompt. The cost per person and hourly time is very reasonable as well. There was a mix up when I got billed but everything was sorted out quickly which I greatly appreciate. One item for improvement would be a clearer check I and out process for paying. My bellhops and I arranged a 30 minute earlier time than I booked and apparently they couldn't check in ahead of time? So they had to remember to check out the time they worked after the appointment time started. That contributed to the mix up, but like I said earlier it was fixed quickly over the phone! Very courteous staff all around. I would recommend this service for anyone who needs help moving!

It's unfortunate I had such an unpleasant experience with Bellhops this weekend as the day with them started out pretty well. The lead mover came on time and was very friendly and courteous. The two other movers trickled in shortly after and then the truck (contracted out, not from the actual company) showed up. The three movers I had were very slow. Bellhops also failed to tell me at the time I booked with them that their movers don't come with their own tools. In the words of the lead mover "they're not professional movers". Let me repeat that....this company justifies not having the adequate resources to do their jobs as movers, which they market themselves as, by saying they're amateurs and not professionals. Luckily, I had most of the tools that were needed to disassemble our beds and furniture. But half way into breaking down my child's bed, they realized they needed an L-shaped wrench and looked at me crazy when I said I didn't have one. They then threatened to leave her bed there since they couldn't fit it through the door....as if any of that was my fault. They refused to come up with any other solution and suggested I go buy one. Luckily I dug one out but made sure none of the movers were paid for the time I was scrounging around my own belongs looking for what was needed. It was a terrible experience and I would never recommend them to anyone.

I wouldn't recommend this company. I had a move this past weekend, and the move was schedule for 10am. We hired two bellhops, but only one was on time and didn't want to start working until the other bellhop arrived. The second bellhop didn't arrive until nearly two hour late. Along with being late, he continued to complain that his wrist was hurting from the start. There was very little communication between the customer service and the bellhops. In addition, they were very slow. Three hours into the move, one bellhop that was actually doing a pretty good job had to leave to take care of another move. The one complaining of his wrist offered to stay, but we decided to just end the move there. Now we are left with several things to move. I was very surprised with there service with a company who has such great reviews. I would do more research on other companies.

Extremely unprofessional!!!I scheduled with Bellhops for moving on Sunday at 12pm. On Saturday, a Bellhop person called me at 3pm and told me he would come by in 30' to move and I told him it was wrong because I scheduled for Sunday. Then he confirmed someone will come back on Sunday. On Sunday, I waited until 12:30 pm and no one came so I called Bellhops. They then told me that I was scheduled for moving on Monday. This totally screwed up my day and I had to hire a local moving company to move immediately, which costed me $385.That was not everything yet. When I first called Bellhops to schedule, I told them that I would reserve with U-haul for the truck. Then the guy told me he could help me reserve with budget with a lower cost. Fine, I let him do it. However, on Sunday when I went to pick up the truck, Budget said they did not have any mover truck at that location and that I had to call them to check availability before picking it up (WTF ???). So Bellhops never checked with Budget for the truck availability, although they have been working with Budget. And neither Budget or Bellhops ever called me and let me know that the truck was not available. So I had to drive in a cold and rainy Sunday to pick up the truck to find out that none was available. Budget then sent me to a different location to get a bigger truck. Then after picking the truck at the other location, I found out that Bellhops had a wrong schedule for me and had to return the truck while still having to pay for it.. At the end of the day, I wasted 4 hours for the hassle of getting a truck (on a cold and rainy day) but had to return it later and waiting for never coming Bellhops, wasted $385 for a new moving company and almost $100 for picking the truck but not able to use it.This is my first and last time I ever use Bellhops. I decided to use them at first because of all the good reviews but it turned out to be the worst service experience ever in my life. AND I am still pissed currently!!!UPDATE: I'm revising the rating from * to *** because Bellhops have showed responsibility and worked with me on this issue. They refunded me the cost that I had to pay for the other moving company. They showed that they care about their service quality and their customers by acting and trying to resolve the problem quickly.

I live in Houston, TX, and used Bellhops to help me move last month. I was moving to a different unit within my same apartment complex, so I figured it'd be a 2-hour job max. I did not want to get "professional" movers because their rates are higher (in the $110-$120/hr range), and every company I spoke to had a 3-hour minimum and a $50-$100 charge just to get out there. I found Bellhops on Yelp and gave them a call. What follows are some details (both positive and negative) of my experience:- Customer service is great. All my interactions were extremely positive, professional, and helpful. Super quick response by email, too. -There is only a one-hour minimum, rates are extremely good, and any additional time beyond the minimum is prorated by the minute. - Insurance is not included, it's an additional $30. To their credit, when I contacted Bellhops to file an insurance claim (scratches and minor damage to a desk), they promptly honored my request. Again, great customer service. - Bellhops do NOT have their own moving dollies, hand trucks, or carts. This was NOT explained while booking my service - I found out the day before my move when I texted my Bellhop to confirm the time and place and asked him about the equipment he was bringing (i.e.: none). I knew it was impossible to move all my stuff without a couple of dollies, so I had to rent them from UHaul at the last minute. I realize these are college students, not full-time movers, but if you're promoting your service as "affordable, handpicked Houston MOVERS" (verbatim from your website), you should make sure your guys have the right equipment for the job. - Bellhops were polite, on time, and got the job done. However, they were also MUCH slower than professional movers: last time I moved it took movers an hour and a half to move everything from the truck to my apartment, while it took Bellhops 3 hours to move the same amount of stuff to my new unit (and I was helping out A LOT). I don't think they were slacking off, they just lacked some of the skills of guys who do this for a living. Overall, I was pleased with Bellhops and might get them again depending on the complexity of the move. Even with the extra charges (insurance, dolly rental, extra time), I still paid less than what I was quoted by other moving companies. In my opinion, Bellhops fills a much-needed niche between finding random guys on Craigslist and getting full-fledged professional movers. I don't know if I can give Bellhops 5 stars as a moving company, but I can definitely recommend them if you need an extra set of hands.
