History

Established in 1985. 3 Men Movers was founded when John David Fischer moved his family to Houston to escape the recession in Illinois. Times where difficult for the Fischer family, it was difficult for a middle aged man without a college education to find a decent job.  Arriving in Houston, Mr. Fischer had little money, but big dreams and the will and determination to work hard to achieve them.  After several unsuccessful attempts, Mr. Fisher was left with furniture delivery truck and a stack of bills. Making the most of what little he had Fischer started moving furniture at age 50 to get his family by. He quickly developed a reputation for being fair and his business grew through referrals. He began 3 Men Movers with a single truck, two helpers and operated the company from the dining room.  It was truly a family business. Today, the company has grown to one of the largest independent residential movers in the nation.  Mr. Fischer retired in 2003, leaving his daughter Jacky Noons at the helm.

So nice and accomodating!! I am the absolutely worst client and they did not even seemed bothered by how awful I am!! I had a move scheduled and I was not packed when Jose, my mover, called to inform me he was ready to move my items. Naturally, I freaked out. He was nice about it, gave me the number to the main office and was not even bothered I was wasting his time. I called the office and Norma answered and not only rescheduled me, but was so incredibly nice about it!!! My move was originally scheduled to start within ten minutes of my rescheduling and they did not even make me feel as if I was a hassle!!Great customer service, great attitudes, and great people!!! Norma and Jose rock and so does this moving service!!!

I am so disappointed! Everything seemed fine at first, the group came in and wrapped and moved everything as quickly as possible. I think their "speed" also caused a lot of the issues I experienced as I feel some of my items were moved very carelessly.Once I finally got to the new apartment and they all started unloading everything the men asked me if I had the wheels for the base of my mattress, which I didn't as it was still on the floor of my bedroom at the old place, which they removed, were placed in a box and left. I had to drive 30 minutes across town and back to get the wheels for them and when I got back they were sitting and waiting, unfortunately I feel this ate into my time which caused my bill to be astronomically more expensive than quoted.Given how small and little that had to be moved, my original quote was for $300 dollars and final, said and done, came out to over $500 - I wasn't even provided an itemized receipt or anything. I was floored at how much more expensive it was than originally quoted. Once my roommate and I started wiping down the furniture we noticed a number of problems, nicks in the wood of some of my items, holes in the base of mattress and worst of all, they damaged the structure of my living room console which is a heavy duty wood structure. I am so disappointed and at this current point in time would not recommend this mover as they were too fast, and cared more about speed and getting the job over with than anything else, causing damages to my furniture. So sad and disappointed that I chose this company.

We had a good experience up until we realized they forgot one of our mattresses at our old house after they left - minor issue, right? Well, apparently it is a very complicated and challenging puzzle to get ONE mattress brought to us by a moving company with a FLEET of trucks and professional moving crews.I have called customer service three days in a row and they say they are trying to get ahold of our movers -- apparently only the people that moved us can fix the problem (?) but the move lead has never called us to schedule a time to get a mattress to us. But there are no other solutions offered. During today's phone call they said they could move the mattress, but they would charge us for a moving crew to go out and get it. Huh? We paid you to move the contents of our three-bedroom house, and you left a mattress behind. It's pretty big - how did you miss it? So now we have a mattress at our old house, our landlord is about to charge us to remove it, and the moving company is seemingly trying to wear us down until we give up. Seriously, I don't know why someone can't just get a pickup truck and bring us our mattress - it's only 5 miles away! We would do it if we had a truck. If I knew someone that had a truck in town I would call in a favor just to never listen to 3 Men Movers' cheery hold messages again. When I worked in customer service I would have done something like this on my lunch break. It's what you do when you care about your customers. But it doesn't seem to be what 3 Men Movers does, not even close.

My situation was a little more complicated in that I was asking the company to pack and move my stuff into their truck, store it for one month, and then move my stuff from Houston to Dallas.  My work company was paying for the move so the first complication arose when there were several miscommunications with the representative at 3 Men Movers regarding how they would be charging the expenses as 3 Men Movers had agreed to charging all the expenses directly to my work company.  When the packers came, that information was NOT communicated and because it was a Saturday they had no way of contacting their bosses and so I had to directly pay with my credit card.  Despite telling 3MM about this situation, the movers came the following day and again were very confused about charging it to my work company's account.  Again I paid with my own credit card when I shouldn't have.  After the stuff was placed in the truck, we confirmed with 3MM that our stuff would be safe in their truck and once it was time to move to Dallas they would drive that truck up to Dallas.  We get a call on the day they were supposed to drive up telling us that they can't open up the truck because we have the keys to the lock (which we did because they gave it to us) and that they had to break the lock for a $25 charge.  Again we had to make a separate call to their bosses in which the charge was waived.  However, that lack of communication with us was frustrating because did they expect us to be in Houston to give them the keys on the day they were driving the truck up?  That makes no sense because we told them specifically when we first hired them that we were traveling abroad and flying back to Dallas, not to Houston. Finally, my last complaint is about the packers:  they did not pack some of my stuff as diligently as I would have expected.  An opened bag of detergent was carelessly thrown into my bathroom toiletries and after unpacking the box, the detergent was all over my make up and bathroom supplies.  Overall, 3MM got the job done as any professional moving company bound to a contract should.  However for the price charged, the inconveniences and frustration that we encountered, and the poor packing job were not worth it and will make me look elsewhere for my next move.
