My experience with these guys was a little different from that of the other reviewers. Moving cross-country (Dallas to the Seattle area) was one of the worst experiences of my life, but these guys made it easier, for the most part. Honestly, they're one of the best moving companies I've used.1. Initial contact: the surveyor guy who came out was nice and thorough. He answered my questions.2. Packing: I had them pack my kitchen. The guys they sent out were contractors, and they were fabulous. Nice, let me relax for a few hours, got the job done. Nothing they packed arrived broken. They tried to do what I requested. Good guys.3. Shipping: I was moving at the beginning of their busy season, and it was a little last-minute. I was told that while they preferred to put things on the truck and send it out from the point of packing (it's cheaper for them, so if they can do it, they will), any given shipment might have to sit in a warehouse and be loaded on a different truck, and they had no way of knowing which will happen ahead of time--that's why they give a date-range. My stuff went to a warehouse for weeks. Not everything arrived in the state at the same time (I was given a call the morning it was supposed to come--earlier notice would have been better, but it sounds like my move coordinator was taken by surprise on this as much as I was), and ultimate delivery was three days late. I didn't care about three days, and I still don't. Frankly, I'm thankful that they took my job on.4. Delivery: Nice guys, for the most part. Suddath sent enough people to get the job done, and they put things where I asked them to put things. They handled my stuff carefully. No complaints.5. Some of my boxes (including Suddath-packed boxes) arrived dented, but their contents were intact (and I had plenty of breakables that thank goodness weren't broken). Some of my furniture arrived a little damaged; I arranged for a contractor through their process. The guy they sent out was knowledgeable and nice, and fixed my furniture. Honestly, re. damage, this was the easiest move I've ever been through. I've seen more damage on moves from one place to another in my own city, where my stuff stayed on a single truck. Suddath impressed me there.6. Three pieces of my furniture arrived with cockroaches. They were from different rooms in the house--and I did not have a problem at home. I figure they hitched a ride in the warehouse. My move coordinator advocated for me (she really was nice). However, Suddath didn't hold itself responsible for this, as they spray monthly. I wasn't pleased that this happened (I /really/ hate roaches), but I haven't had a problem post-move (I killed what I could find, and believe me, I was thorough), so it wasn't something I pursued. But be warned: this can happen.7. Overall communication: could have been better, but ultimately got the job done. I wasn't always the easiest to get in touch with either (cross-country moves are /terrible/), but there was a lot of voicemail (plus a broken phone system in the beginning, which I'm sure is fixed by now), and in the aftermath (when I wasn't mainly dealing with my move coordinator), I would sometimes need to follow up with people a couple of times. Additionally, in the aftermath, they would give issues to different departments to handle--most of which were on the east coast (I'm on the west now), so I got a 6 AM phone call. Not the best, but honestly, not the worst either. My move coordinator was nice. :)The claims process on late delivery (they paid an amount for each day my things were delivered late) is unusual; you have to initiate it with an e-mail to the right place saying the right things. I found this out by asking a question on an unrelated call; this information wasn't volunteered. I wasn't impressed; they didn't make it easy.Additionally, I had paid the insurance amount for an adjustor to help me fill out any claim forms (previous moves showed me how complicated those could be), and this wasn't something set up automatically--I had to request it. I'm thinking their procedures could use some streamlining.--------------------------------------------------------Ultimately, I had a good experience with these guys. Maybe they've taken those earlier bad reviews to heart, because I dealt with some good people. You have to be a little on top of things, but that's my general life experience. If you're moving cross-country, particularly Dallas to Seattle, I'd suggest at least having them over to give you an estimate. I'm glad I picked them.

Looks like this company still continues to do their damage after 4 years of my review.  Please stay away from this company. I have switched to PODS and it's worth the extra couple of hundred dollars.

We used Suddath for our recent move from St. Louis to Dallas. We had not made a big move in a while and we dreaded the whole process. Mike Alexander and his team were unbelievable. They had our house in St. Louis packed in two days rather than three and our belongings arrived several days ahead of schedule. The packing was phenomenal and the unloading and unpacking even better. They were so patient at the new house as I asked to have some furniture moved after not liking where I directed them to put it. We highly recommend Suddath and especially Mike and his team! You will not be disappointed.

I've used Suddath moving company 2 times, I'm going to use them again in March 2016. I've always been happy with Suddath/United Van Lines.  This is the only way I would move across the country.  I have never had a problem with them and always recommend them to friends who have moved over the years. Now as I'm returning back to Florida I called them again. I am set and ready. This is a good company to work with.

It started by them showing up two days earlier than expected to pack everything. I can't really blame them for this one, that may have been the military's fault. I called their main office and we got the dates straightened out, pack on the 3rd and ship on the 5th.The 3rd comes around and no moving crew. I called them to find out where they are at and was told i should've gotten a phone call yesterday saying they would be there in between 1 and 3 in the afternoon. No big deal, I was just expecting them to show up early in the morning like they did when they got there two days early. They finally showed up at 5 p.m. Then they complained to each other the whole time they were there packing about how it much working late sucks. They finally finish around 7:30 at night, them taking so long caused me to miss a going away for my wife because i had to stay while they packed. They didn't even finish packing everything. Once they left, I realized that there were drawers and cabinets stilled filled with stuff. Thats on me for not catching it in time, but do your job right and we wouldn't be in this mess. The next day I get a knock on my door saying they are there to ship my stuff . I tell them this isn't happening today and it should be tomorrow, then they leave. I got a phone call about an hour later saying that there was another mix up even though we just fixed this a few days earlier and the driver was here early.I try and explain that they can't pack up today because I have a home inspection with the buyer for house showing up and I can't have anyone in the way of that. They tell me that they can get started now and take a long lunch before the buyer and inspector show up and they will come back and finish.I get a call from the inspector saying he is on his way. I tell the shippers to stop packing up and they completely blow me off. They stayed way past when they were supposed to and it ended up causing the buyer to have to wait outside over an hour while they finished packing. With me repeatedly telling them they have to stop until after lunch. I called the operations office about this and was blown off again. So we start our move across country and I get a call saying me stuff had made it to the area and would be ready to be delivered as soon as i got to my new property. I called the next day to schedule a time for it to be delivered and was told the soonest they could do it was 15 days away. OVER TWO WEEKS!! Are you kidding me!?!? They said its a super busy time of year. I get that. Summer is always a super busy moving season. But it's a season. That means it happens at pretty much the same time every year. If you know you're going to be busy around this time every year, hire seasonal workers.Once my stuff gets here, the guys unload it off the trucks. I ask them about unpacking and they say thats not there job and that i need to call the office to have that scheduled. I called the office and they seemed shocked that it wasn't unpacked. They say that they will get someone out first thing in the morning to take care of it. (I don't mind unpacking my own stuff, but when its being paid for to be unpacked, put away, and the packing materials to be removed then it should be taken care of.) The same two guys that did the unloading said they were there to unpack my stuff. They seemed a little annoyed at having to be there because they had other jobs to do. Thats what they can't saying over and over and called me before they showed up to see if i still needed the help because they had other places to be.Their version of unpacking was dumping stuff out of boxes and placing things on the counters. They asked if i wanted the clothes done the same way. I told them not to dump my clothes on the floor but asked if they could pick up the boxes at a later date. They told me "most definitely" that that would be done when i was ready for it. I asked them about putting things away and they said thats not their job. I looked over the paperwork from the military and called my military move office and was informed that was most definitely their job.I called the office again because they had broken a dvd rack in the move and to schedule them picking up the rest of the boxes. I was told that since they already left from the unpack, they weren't obligated to do anymore. I told them their worker had said they would, and was given the excuse of "well they don't know the answer to that, and sometimes they just run their mouth". As soon as he said that, in my mind you become obligated to that. Otherwise i wouldn't have sent them away. I asked about my broken dvd rack and was referred to an office in Florida. I called the extension i was given with no answer, any of the five times over five days I called. He had his voicemail set up saying that if he didn't pick up to email him at his email and he would be back in touch with me in less than 24 hours. That was five days ago.
