You Call We Haul

Don't let these other reviewers fool you. I had a wonderful experience with You Call We Haul. I found them while doing a general search online and gave them a call to collect more information. They were very helpful and answered all of my questions. I then went to look at their reviews on Yelp (and other sites) and was instantly turned off by what I read. I immediately called back to cancel my reservation. I most likely would have gone with another company if they hadn't, very genuinely, wanted to know what they could do differently / better. I was impressed by this and explained that it had everything to do with their online reviews. They explained to me that they had (at one time) employees who have since been let-go, but unfortunately tainted their reputation. During our back and forth, my roommate had contacted a different company who was offering us a better rate (and had better online reviews). I explained this to You Call We Haul, and without being pushy they promised a great experience and would match the other company's lower rate. I decided to take a chance. This wasn't my first time moving in NYC (it was my 4th) so I wasn't going into it blind. I just trusted the person I was working with and didn't feel pressured to go with them..... i wanted to. And i'm so glad I did. The guys were nice, fast, organized, respectful, helpful and creative (not everything looked like it was fitting in the new apartment and they made it work!). I would absolutely hire this company again and plan on doing so for my next move. It's unfortunate that certain employees and experiences can ruin an entire company. I am writing this so that everyone knows that my experience was positive.

Geez, I wish I had read the other reviews before I booked them. Bought a Groupon for them and seemed like a good deal. Until they no call/no showed and left me without movers. I ended up moving my entire apt using my two arms and a Ford Focus. I'm so sore now, I feel like I was raped by Bigfoot and he wanted to cuddle afterward. This company is both unprofessional and unreliable. The phone number listed on the websites: one they don't answer, the other isn't even their number anymore. Booo.... hiss.....

As if moving in the city isn't hard enough, they seem to try and make it even more difficult for you.While the ACTUAL movers that were assigned to my move were great (friendly, hard working, etc) the rest of the company seems wildly incompetent!While moving the few items they were tasked with, they backed a couch into a mirror that was hanging on the wall.  At the time of the incident the movers claimed this would be no big deal.  Take a few pictures, submit them to the company, and all would be taken care of.  The movers completely admitted their mistake and were apologetic the entire time.This process is clearly much easier said, than done.  It has been nearly a month since I first reported the broken mirror and have been at a standstill since that time.  At first they tried claiming the situation was not their fault,  Then they claimed they had no liability because items had been packaged/boxed prior to their arrival.  I asked what this had to do with them breaking a stationary mirror that was not at all part of the move.  They then rescinded their comments and tried a new strategy.  Deny, deny, deny!After having little success with convincing me this was in fact, not due to the movers, they asked for more pictures/evidence.  (Apparently the first round of pictures didn't showcase their damage enough.)  After submitting 5 more pictures of the mirror they said they would get back to me.After numerous e-mails and phone calls I finally got in touche with Justine from their office.  While kids were running around in the background she told me she was headed to the office soon (must be tough not having to be at work until 11am on a weekday) and would call me back later that day.Five (5) days later and no response.  i have left messages and e-mails but haven't heard a word.  I'm almost certain they've begun screening my calls and deferring them straight to voicemail.At the end of the day, I feel bad giving the company a one (1) star rating because the movers were so friendly.  But lets face it, with what they charged me to move a few items (and damage an item not part of the move).  Providing a few friendly, hardworking movers doesn't cut it in this business!Listen to the other Yelpers who had unpleasant experiences and stay away from this company!!

The worst moving company ever.  I made my appointment for the morning.  They didn't send the men until 12pm. From the Bronx.  My move is from Far Rockaway.  And I needed to be in moved into my co-op in Jamaica by 4.  And then when I asked if it was good planning he canceled.  Not professional. I would not recommend them to move a table. I was forced to rent a Uhaul and do the move myself. Move Coordinator,Michael Anthony was the boob i was referring too

Like others, I bought a Groupon without reading their reviews first.  The movers themselves were really nice and showed up on time, but they dinged some of my furniture and my newly painted walls in the new place.
