The good: every item was moved with extreme care and everything arrived safely without so much as a scratch.  Very careful and cautious.  The bad: everything took much longer than it should have.  Re-taping boxes that were already taped.  Careful application of furniture pads for furniture that clearly didn't need it.  Expect that moves will take about 50% longer than they should.

I have used Yankee Movers twice - the first time three years ago and the second time yesterday.  They are excellent movers and I highly recommend using them.  They came EXACTLY on time (to the minute).  They were explicit and clear about the pricing and I believe that it is a good deal compared to other movers in the city.  They expertly and carefully wrapped all of my furniture and did not get one scratch on anything.  They were very hard working, and did not even want to take a break when I offered lunch (it was an all day move).  The icing on the cake is that the movers were INCREDIBLY nice and courteous.  The whole thing could not have gone any smoother.

Yankee Movers moved me last week.  Prior to the day of the move, they were very accomodating with my changing schedule/requirements; and dealt directly with my coop management company in arranging the necessary insurance.  On the day of the move, the crew arrived on time, went through the details of the paperwork, including expected costs, and started immediately.  The crew was courteous, professional and careful at all times during the move.  They were also careful about not getting any parking tickets and moved the truck whenever they had to.  They handled my fragile items with care and nothing was broken or damaged at the end of the day.  Also, I had an extra large cabinet that couldn't fit into the elevators and the crew walked it down 5 flights of stairs at no additional charge.  I definitely recommend using them.

So I recently moved with them again in June and once again the service was excellent. I happen to request the same mover from the previous move (Chris I think) and he showed up on time (slightly early) and did a great job as usual. I would recommend this company to anyone. Also, I only moved a room so everything was taken care of in the alotted time with no issues. They take good care of your items as they provide mattress covers and covers for your other items as well. I believe the only extra that I had to pay was for the tape. Also, if you are moving an entire apartment or house please do not expect this to happen in 3 hours as they are only humans and it is impossible unless you have 3-4 movers to help. I also took the initiative to move my smaller items (clothes, valuables, etc) myself in my vehicle to the new place to ensure that the only items they needed to move were the larger items. It is also very helpful if you are prepared for the move ahead of time so they know what they are moving and ensure that there are clear passage ways for them to get the items out to there truck. Also, if you move in the winter the raters are lower than summer rates.Unfortunately, I did have to pay for a parking ticket that they happen to get because there was not any parking so they had to double park but if you or someone else are able to watch the truck if this does occur that may help fro getting ticketed. If they are ticketed then you have to pay the ticket on spot so that was my only slight issue but it is understandable. So overall I rate service and quality at an all time high. They are professional, on time, and very careful with your items. They also moved me on a Sunday in which they normally do not do but according to Chris if there is business then business must be handled lol. So he has no problem with working and working hard. This review is regarding a move we did on 11/1/2013. It was not a good experience contrary to my star rating, but few stars have a tendency to disappear from the reviews. If you're considering this company, you should definitely consider other options.The movers were 45 minutes late, they cleared our apartment of 20 boxes in about an hour and a half, but they took an additional 4 hours to wrap and pack our furniture for a small 1BR apartment. They required my help and direction to disassemble and move the furniture, which should be their expertise and they ended up snapping our couch in half despite all of the wrapping.After such a long day and a skyrocketing hourly rate, we indicated that we wanted the move to end at 5:45PM regardless of what was left to be moved (we said we'd take care of the rest). They had us go down and look at the broken couch and to fill out the paperwork. The foreman left his toolbox in our apartment, so we went up and once we started the paperwork,  he stated an end time of 6:15 (accounting for the time it took to go down and look at the couch and come back up to get the toolbox). My girlfriend disputed it with their dispatcher who then argued it with her and proceeded to run her credit card without her permission for the full amount (plus the extra "30" minutes).We filed a complaint with the BBB and received a response that was more accusatory than apologetic from their owner, essentially telling us we fabricated our entire series of events and received a fair discount (of which we can find no mathematical evidence, particularly with a broken couch). All in all, best to avoid this company.
