History

Established in 2005. The actual truck I used to drive into Ground Zero...I was working for a non-profit and would bring loads of gloves, boots, masks, food, etc into the zone to assist with the workers. When our operation was over, a lady who was associated with the organization starting using the truck personally.When gas prices started to rise in 2005, this lady wanted to get rid of the truck. I got word of it, and thought I could make a little extra cash helping people move things from place to place. I bought the truck and started placing ads on Craigslist. Soon, I was getting more business than I could handle.I liken my business to the teachers in the midwest (where I grew up) who would mow lawns, do lanscaping, paint houses, etc as summer income...this is that kind of work...NYC style! It gets me outside and talking to adults (as opposed to teenagers...) and helps ease the burden of a low teacher salary.

We recently relocated from Florida to NYC and chose Rob the Mover based on Yelp reviews. I worked with Kenny back and forth via email and phone to coordinate getting our stuff from a PODS container in Brooklyn to our apt in Manhattan. They were responsive and quick to follow up, and when moving day came, Brian and his crew were professional, hard-working, fast-moving, careful and great company to be around and get everything done in a very fast manner (approx. 3 hours start to finish, just like they quoted us). I will certainly look to use them again for our next move should we relocate to a different place in the future!

Rob the mover made moving in NYC so easy and stress free. I moved from a tiny studio in Chelsea up to Hell's Kitchen. My apartment in Chelsea was so small I had to pack most of it day of because there was no room to put too many packed boxes. Rob the mover came and brought a bunch of boxes and packing materials for me. They brought the already packed boxes down to the truck in record speed. They wrap all of your delicate pieces (for a little it extra) like tv, mirrors, art work, etc. All of my belongings were moved so quickly and seamlessly I couldn't believe it. They were very careful and wrapped all furniture so nothing would get damaged. They also unwrap and take all the trash with them once it's in your new place. Everyone was so nice and easy going. I will definitely be using them in the future for my next move.

Overpriced. They charged me $900 to move furniture down the block on the same block! I was quoted differently but items we're added such as clothes nothing to big. It cost me this much to ship my furniture from Seattle to NY. Will never use them again.
