I spent 5 months and a crazy amount of time on the phone yelling at people to get my couch. Can you imagine the despair when the movers couldn't get it into my apartment because of poor measurements taken? Surprisingly, the movers and the online retailer I purchased the couch from, recommended ny couch doctors. Now, at this point, I'm stressed, want to cry and am staring at a couch I spent 5 months of emotional stress over and I really just wanted a drink and for everything to go away. But instead, I called Sal and he said he could have someone over to me in 2 hours. Thank goodness! He sent over Jose and Jason; two guys who put me at ease...and please imagine how crazy I must look at this point as someone tells me they are cutting open my brand new couch and reassembling it in my apartment.  Then also think about how nice they  must be to talk down a high strung nyer. They spent about an hour and a half at my place breaking it down and then putting it back together. It looks exactly the same way it came in as, and I got to look  at the inner workings of the couch. They also let my dad hover over/ watch them work (what champs), and offered helpful couch buying tips. I also think I never want to buy another couch ever.  But if I ever have the same problem, I know who to reach out to! Thank you for your help!

Do Not Use.Couch Doctor came and disassembled, moved and reassembled my couch today. The couch only went three blocks to it's new home, but it was way more painful and expensive than it needed to be.Quotes: It seems pretty consistent that they will quote you $225 - $450 but always charge you $450. The guy that came to take the couch apart told me it was $450 before even assessing the situation, which means it's not an evaluation but the standard pricing.Scheduling: While getting the standard quote is easy after filling out the form online, scheduling an appointment is not. I had to email, call and text multiple times to make an appointment. Even after texting to confirm, there was still a bit of confusion telling me to text the same info to another phone number (which was the exact phone number we were current using to communicate). I was finally able to schedule for two days later. I can't imagine how you could use this service if you were in a pinch.Service: The guy who handled my couch was friendly and did a great job. However, don't expect them to move your couch without creating and leaving a total mess. I was left to clean up after them in the first apartment, borrow a vacuum and vacuum four flights of stairs where sawdust and staples trailed, and then again sweep up sawdust and staples in the new location. I like to walk around barefoot at home, but not when staples are left everywhere. For $450 + tip, you would think they would give the guys a broom, dust pan and hand vacuum to clean up after themselves. As the most expensive service out there, it should be full service.Payment: Once finished, the guy asked how I wanted to pay. When I asked my options, he told me that it was cash or credit card, but that it was a $70 service charge to use a card. That seems extreme since the standard service charge is 3%. Also, if I wanted to pay by credit card, he didn't have a card reader on him so I would need to call the office. He gave me the number and I called twice, and just like when trying to make an appointment, no one answered. I ended up paying in cash since I couldn't get anyone on the phone, but am disappointed because I really would have preferred to pay by card... I want those points, baby. I am happy the couch looks great, but I am disappointed that I had to chase them down to make an appointment, clean up after them, and couldn't get customer service on the phone to discuss payment.

My day started super stressful but ended with amazement because of these guys. i had my couch delivered from R&B this morning and due to some bad measurements of the elevator, the couch was 5 inches too big! I was faced with two choices (1) return it, find another couch (after we have been waiting on this delivery for ~3 months) (2) out of pure epiphany, call the couch doctor which one of my friends used before.. after debating back and forth a few times.. I ended up keeping the couch -- stashing it in the hallway and calling Sal to hopefully have it arranged that day. Sal was great in pulling through and coming on 6/30 within only three hours of calling and his guys went straight to business. They did amazing work and I highly recommend!  Thanks so much!

Disheartened to discover that my couch, which made it out of my former apartment and had sentimental value, would not fit in the service elevator of my new one, I called NY Couch Doctor. He was 10 blocks away and came within 10 minutes, on the busiest moving day of the year. The price was a little steep, given the estimate my movers thought I'd get, but certainly worth the convenience and the job done. Thanks for your help!
