These guys were super nice, friendly and professional. They took great care to wrap everything more than adequately and prevented anything from being damaged. They were efficient with their teamwork and didn't laze around letting the clock elapse. I bought them lunch and they barely even ate it because they were so busy working on our move. They were great with my antique furniture, artwork, mirrors, TV, everything. I was referred by Stuy Town and Michaels movers are experts with moving here. I was a little worried at first because their estimate seemed low - but the extra hours above their original estimate did not make the total too high because their labor rate is so competitive. Payment was easy as well. A million times better than crappy New York Movers that did my last move! Jason

About 9 months ago my mom hired Michael's to move the contents of her old house into storage and then when ready move it all to her new home. A crew from Michael's came and after confirming the pricing particulars they got started. They moved boxes, they disassembled antique bedroom furniture: each part was wrapped in protective material and boxed. Finally, the rest of the furniture (sofas, love seats, china closet, tv's, etc) was moved onto the truck. We verified an itemized list of everything that was moved. This leg of the job went well. The contents of the truck was then delivered to their storage facility. 3 months later I contacted Michael's and asked them to deliver to mom's new home. I understand that it's hard to navigate around tight corners while carrying heavy furniture and that this might lead to taking short cuts. But after chipping paint 3 times, that should be an indication that the laws of physics are fixed.  Sadly it took my direct intervention to prevent attempt number 4 from completely destroying a freshly painted wall. This was a minor annoyance compared to what happened later. After unpacking the truck, and reassembling mom's bedroom set, it was brought to our attention that a wardrobe was missing. This was a wooden piece, probably cedar and easily 50 years old. The gentleman in charge said he suspected the piece was still in storage. Ok, they'd bring it by another day. So, aside from a few scraped walls and a missing wardrobe, it seemed like mission accomplished. We generously thanked the crew and saw them out the door. Mom headed in to check on the bedroom set when I heard a crash and scream. The enormous vanity mirror collapsed onto my mother. The crew had staged it, resting it on the vanity so it appeared attached, probably in preparation of mounting it, but they neglected to attach the +100lb mirror. This resulted in my 75 year old mother suffering massive bruising and pain (we were lucky she wasn't killed). When I contacted Michael about my mom's incident and the missing wardrobe, I was promised the wardrobe any number of times. No one in their organization had the class to apologize about the wardrobe or even inquire about my mother's condition (as if this would admit guilt?). How else would the mirror be disconnected and all the hardware needed to attach it still be neatly taped to the back? My advice is stay away from this company. They lack the fundamental qualities necessary to function in a civilized society.

Absolutely horrible experience. Call someone else. I had them pick up furniture I purchased last May, store it over the summer, and then deliver it to my apartment in late August. Mike, the guy organizing the move was relatively professional, but when the day came to start the move, all hell broke lose. The guys were nowhere to be seen at the time we had agreed to meet at my building (think it was 8am on a Saturday). I called them and they wouldn't pick up. I called their office and nothing. The building was brand new and I had reserved a 3 hour space for the moving elevator; if we missed the window we would have to reschedule the move as the rest of te day was packed. After waiting for an hour and a half, I am finally able to get through to their office and they tell me the moving guys are running late. When I expressed my dismay at the situation, the person on the end of the line (let's call him Bob), tells me "stuff happens". When these dudes finally arrive and start unloading my belongings, I realize a carpet and the 2,000 dollar Heavenly Bed mattress are soaked. When it came time for me to pay, they tried to charge me for lots and lots of extras, including tape and packing materials, extra moving hours, and the time they were late because apparently it was traffic's fault!! They said I had to pay and 3 guys who barely spoke english got aggressive. All in, the bill was 75% higher than the estimate Mike had originally given me. It ended up being discounted given the horrible experience but I still paid significantly more than I was originally quoted. Also, I was offered $60 based on weight for the $2000 mattress they ruined. Stay as far away from these people as possible.

This company is a serious JOKE! These guys are not professional what so ever. They dont even have the proper tools to do anything. They made marks all over my brand new walls, they throw boxes without care. Most of my furniture has cracks and chipped off edges. I could tell they didnt want to work cus towards the end they werent doing sh*t! I was doing all the work. They were just waiting with the papers to be signed so they can bounce. They don't take care of trash unless you give it to them. They just don't pick up after themselves PERIOD!Do yourselves a favor and and look for a different company cuz these guys dont give a Shi* about any of your households. They dont care about your brand new flooring nor your freshly painted walls. No one cared to make my bed or anything else they were supposed to. I had to ask them to do it. They thought we were stupid and tried to lie to us about something we already knew but tried to get out of it. SMH....I had to find out at night that my bed was broken. After a long day of unpacking and cleaning i took a shower and put one knee on the bed to go on and all of a sudden it broke. They didnt screw on the frame they just some how hooked it on and covered it with the mattress thats why when I tried to get on my bed it collapsed..We move around every couple years and so far this company was the WORST moving company EVER! I never had to write a negative review about any of the other companies. Lazy workers. Unprofessional. Unfrienly. Stay away from Michaels moving and storage!!

I moved from NJ to NY and they were up to the task. I got a great quote and this was my first experience with movers so I didn't know what to expect. I ended up boxing and wrapping all the furniture myself beforehand because I wasn't sure if they did it or not. They arrived timely that morning. Michael (?) assessed the job and started rewrapping some of my furniture to really protect it. I did not get charged for that. It was a sweltering 100 degree summer day and the guys worked pretty hard. They were social and I ended up even giving the guys an expensive Boombox Stereo as well as a computer desk I no longer needed as a gift. The main issue I ran into was when they moved my stuff in, one of my Ikea Malm drawers broke. The wooden piece separating the 2 drawers smashed in half. I showed Michael what happened and was pretty nice about it. I was going to glue the wood back together but he insisted he would replace the piece for me. He even wrote on the receipt that the dresser broke. There were also some nicks on my other dressers but honestly I'm not really fussy. It was Ikea furniture after all.So a week goes by and no followup on fixing my broken dresser. I made several calls and left several messages and never got a call back. Finally I found Michaels direct cell number and called him on numerous occasions spanning a few months and every time he would just apologize and said his friend was working on it. Well it's a year later now and he still has not come through on his promise nor return my phone calls. What irks me more is, other than breaking the dresser (accidents happen), I recommended them to a friend shortly after my move. And I had 2 more moves this year with family that I wanted to use them for but I had to go with someone else because Michael didn't come through on his word and I don't like doing business with someone like that.Lastly, the job did over the quote by $100 but I expected something like that to happen because of the long trip and all. It's a shame they lost out on a lot of my business for such a silly thing. Mover beware.
