Man With A Van Moving & Delivery

My fiance and I were inheriting a few big pieces of furniture from our family friends who live down the street. In true New York twenty-something fashion, we thought "we can get this stuff two blocks!" We were wrong, which we fortunately realized before things went from bad to worse. I was very nervous about hiring movers for just a few pieces that needed to go (literally) two blocks - and I did receive a few quotes that were $900+. No way! Enter Man With A Van, who had a super reasonable hourly rate that we were very comfortable paying. Not only were they quick to respond to email and get us our COIs, they were very accommodating when we needed to do a last-minute switch of the date. Our two guys arrived right at the very beginning of our arrival window and were SO QUICK and efficient. They literally ran between moving pieces of furniture so that they wouldn't run up the clock. They were awesome, and so responsible! At the drop off location they were careful to place the pieces exactly where I wanted them and the whole thing was done in under 90 minutes. 10/10, would do again. And I'd definitely say that they are the go-to movers in NYC for a small job.

I have moved a lot. In NYC I usually use Big John's. The do a great job.This time, I had a very small job. I only needed a bed and sofa moved. The sofa only had to be moved from one floor to the other. The two guys who came were very nice. They didn't seem to have much moving experience. They only brought one small dolly and no moving supplies.It took them an hour and a half to dis-assemble the bed, something that only took 20 minutes or so last time it was moved. Moving the sofa took them almost two hours because they were not strong enough to lift it. They also were sliding it along the floor on the fabric arm, which scared me that the fabric was going to tear. I appreciate how hard the guys tried. But it's a lesson for me. Better to hire professionals, even if the job is tiny. They are nice guys, but Man With A Van does not fall in that category.

I'm writing this review with only half of the job done, but I am so happy with it so far I need to rave about it while it's fresh in my mind.I moved from a luxurious building in philly to a 4th floor walk up in NYC, where I'd spent a week and a half just packing everything myself alone. I remember spending an entire day by myself just wrapping and packing and taping, and it was so much work I didn't want to do it again.Fast forward basically a year and it's time to move again to another part of NYC, and I decided to hire movers that were inexpensive that would also pack for me. However, every quote i got was absurd. I moved from philly to NYC for a total of 1600--every quote I got ranged from 1500-2000. Mind you I'm only moving like ten blocks, from a fourth floor walk up to a luxury building. I know it's Manhattan, but that's insane.Luckily, my frugal friend recommended Man with a Van, so I requested a quote. First of all, they responded back promptly AND by email, then they gave me the lowest quote out of any company I talked to so I booked them.Usually I'm weary about cheap anything, but here is one of the rare instances where cheap was quality. Mike and James came to pack my stuff, and first of all Mike called the day before to confirm exactly what he was doing and what they needed to bring. They were supposed to come at 6:30-7:30 window, they arrived at 6:25. Not only did they pack my stuff at the speed of light, but they packed it meticulously, carefully, and labeled everything. And not only did they do that, but they were super friendly, conversational, and insanely professional. I thoroughly enjoyed both their work and their company.They began at 6:30 and managed to pack my entire life up in 2.5 hours, all for an extremely reasonable Manhattan price. The memory of the laborious process of packing and moving myself is still fresh in my mind, so I cannot express enough gratitude to Mike, James, and Man with a Van for completely eliminating a normally stressful, arduous process. Well done, guys. Will update the review after part 2 of the move tomorrow, but so far, Mike and James get 5 stars.Update: no real complaints about the actual move itself. The three guys that came weren't as talkative but we're still super friendly and polite, and they got the job done in the allotted amount of time. At 1:50, after over 4.5 hours of nonstop work, they were only going to charge me from 9-1:30 and i insisted they charge until 2 since they were still working. The ONLY hiccup was that after they were done packing at my old apartment, they left for my new apartment and didn't tell me (and also left a dresser behind I wanted them to leave by the curb), but even that wasn't a big deal and they returned back to my old apartment to get rid of the dresser. Also, nothing was broken or chipped :).Overall, great services for the great price. I highly recommend for people trying to make a similar move that I made.

Nelson, Jonathan, and Tony were fantastic! Fast, careful, and thoughtful. This is the second time that I've used Man with a Van to move, and it's the second time that I've been impressed. They know what they're doing, and they do it efficiently and at a reasonable price.

This review is long overdue but well deserved. I used NY City Van to move 5blks from my studio apt to a 2bdrm in Queens over Labor Day wknd (that comes at a price). The most important factor for me was providing a COI for the co-op bldgs I was moving in and out of and all went smoothly with the bldg managers. Communication was quick and clear and the movers were all super nice and really thorough. What blew me away was how fast they were! These guys are pros and moving sucks - it's well worth the money to have people help you and pack everything up. Should I need to move or anyone asks me for a referral, I'll be sending friends this way. The glowing reviews and high ratings here speak volumes, you have nothing to worry about. I highly recommend using them.
