Hi, I hired G.A.K. Moving Company also known as GAK moving company and had a very good experience. HARD WORKING, PROFESSIONALS. I highly recommend them.I was worried with the bad review Carol T wrote below and I sent Gregory (the owner) the review and asked them if I could trust them. Although I was very concerned, it was great that I did that. Gregory was at all time very polite and answered promptly all my emails. His company called me one day before to confirm and the movers arrived on time. They even gave me a 15 minute warning. The movers were very polite and professional. They worked very hard and did not stop for a moment. I had a great experience and would recommend it.

Moving is always a delicate moment and things can easily go wrong. These guys called before arriving and arrived promptly with a rented truck. So far so good. Then they asked us to hang out by the truck so they wouldn't get a ticket while packing things. When scheduling the move we had expressly told that there is number of modular furniture that will need to be disassembled before moving--they arrived without any tools. Luckily we had needed tools ourselves. But they were lazy to use them, instead trusting their strength they carried many of the furniture out as is without any wrapping through tight corners banging them on their way out leaving the design furniture scratched and chipped. One piece they wrapped in our white bedcover, which of course was no longer white after the move. When re-assembling the bookshelf they managed to screw it up totally and tried to deny it when I noted it to them. They had to disassemble it and start all over. Really, it is just a bookshelf so not overly complicated. Previous company was able to assemble it in 15 minutes, these guys used 90 minutes!! Plus while moving the bookshelf they made a huge scratch to the floor... we are only happy the landlord didn't come after us for that. When carrying the boxes in they bluntly threw them on top of low tables scratching the surface... They needed to be closely supervised at all times as they had no respect what so ever to our belongings and liked some enough to keep them themselves.I could go on and on...In total they used more than double the time they had estimated and denied having done any harm to the furniture, some of which we discovered only came the next day and light. Never again!

Horrible experience overall.  I was working with a tight window, I couldn't get into my new apartment until about 3 pm, but had to be out of my old apartment before 430 pm.  I called and spoke to Gregory and set up the movers for 130.  I was very adamant about them being on time, which I stated over the phone and via email and he assured me it wouldn't be an issue.135 rolls around and nothing so I call (which I shouldn't have had to do) Gregory says "give me 5 minutes" and hangs up.  Then the receptionist calls me back to say "something is wrong with the truck, they will be there no later than 3" aka we overbooked ourselves and won't be on time.  I was very unhappy with that obviously but nothing I could do.  3 rolls around and no one, I call again "he's on the Queensboro bridge and will be there in 20 minutes".  330 comes and goes I call again "Oh were two minutes away" 30 minutes goes by- 405 they finally arrive.  Now I understand movers tend to be late, but when I specifically stated TWICE the importance of being on time, almost 3 hours late is unacceptable as far as I'm concerned. And whatever happened to under promise over deliver? Stop saying random times you'll be there when you won't.  It's making me angrier. So they finally arrive, leave one guy in the truck and the other two come to the apartment- one of which while very nice, spoke no English and was very old and not helpful. They moved my things in a timely fashion I will give them that.  We go to stop two and they break my lamp.  One of them points it out to me and I say how did that happen? (he's only had to walk it from the apt to the truck so far) he says "it was like that" oh yes ok, my lamp just magically broke itself. That makes sense. Also- they don't wrap any of your furniture to stop it from being damaged except the TV.I leave apartment number 2 to head to the final apartment. They leave at the same time (or should have).  Somehow even though we both took the same route I stand outside in the cold for 20 minutes waiting for them.  They finally arrive, and I show them the apartment.  I have stated several times, again in writing as well, that the elevator is small and chances are the bed will have to be walked up the stairs.  The guy whines to me like 5 times they're going to have to walk it up the stairs.  Are you looking for a medal? Yea I am aware. That's your job and why I'm paying you. And it's not new information. Also- they did not treat my things well anytime they were out of my sight (the very loud banging I heard coming from the hallway prompted me to go out there and look). Finally this disaster of a day is done. I go to pay them, they overcharge me (my fault for not figuring this out while he was still there so I take responsibility for that, however I don't appreciate dishonesty). I tip them $30 which in my opinion is more than they deserved (I intended on tipping $60 but they sucked) and he glares at me goes "take care" and walks out. You're welcome dbag!Lastly- I had about 8 extra boxes from U-Haul that were unused that I was going to return yet somehow they never made it inside.Also- agreed with other reviewer they take 18 smoke breaks (probably what was happening while I stood in the cold for 20 minutes). HELLO I'm paying by the hour here.Overall- VERY dissatisfied, EXTREMELY unprofessional and would never use them again and would certainly not recommend them.I have written one other review in my lifetime ever- and I'm taking the time to write this small novel. That's how pissed I am. GO WITH SOMEONE ELSE. Might cost you a few $$'s more, but won't make the already stressful moving process that much worse.

G.A.K. Moving Company also known as GAK moving companyThese guys are crooks. I found them through their numerous ads on craigslist. Once they were done with their move, 2 pieces of my furniture were missing. One of them was a part of my table which I found broken near my old apt's service elevator, the other is a piece of my bed frame which is gone. I suspect they broke it and trashed it leaving me without a bed because without that piece of the frame, I can't set up my bed. Unfortunately, I only noticed this once they finished moving and I had paid them. Called the owner of the company Grigor (Gregory) Khubeseryan for a refund, but he didn't bother to contact me back. As long as he got his money, he dosn't care about his customers. Also, they took 2 hours 15 minutes for the move and were charging me for 3 hours. I had to call the manager to settle it with him and pay them for the desired 2 and half hours instead. The movers were on the phone often, came 2 hours late, bought some street food while moving and were eating it too on the job. Not professional. Don't waste your time with them. You'll end up saving with other movers because they don't throw away furniture.

I hired these guys to move me from an East Village 2nd floor walk up to a Harlem 5th floor walk up.  They managed to move me completely in 3 hours and that's including through giant snowbanks. I found them to be fast and respectful the entire way through. They asked me questions about all the different pieces of furniture and boxes. I honestly feel they undercharged be by a long shot.  They weren't the fanciest, but definitely fast and very hard working. They showed up exactly when they said they would. They even gave me a 15 minute warning. I highly recommend them. There are companies like College Educated Movers and Gentleman with a Van who respond with the same email address and give two different quotes which are highly overpriced.  They can't even keep track of their hustling. Watch out.
