As a DIY mover, I always scoffed at paying for movers. Who knew it would be this easy and affordable?! We sold our Brooklyn apartment and had to move everything into storage in Queens. The guys were professional, and courteous, and QUICK! 50+ large boxes, several dressers, heavy ass printers, mattresses, vacuums and knick knacks, and they cleared out in less than 2 hours. At the storage facility, they methodically stacked all our stuff so it was nice and neat, and easy to access.And now that we've closed on a new apartment, we will be using them again to move our stuff from storage to the new place. They made our move completely stress-free! The movers don't speak much English, (Cantonese if you're keeping track), but the truck driver does. However, don't let that deter you from hiring them. They are totally worth it because they know what they're doing! They'll just come up and survey what they have to do, and then get the job done. Pro tip: Try to plan your move early in the morning if possible. If not, and they have another party booked beforehand, you may be at the mercy of the first party's delay. Also, cash is king (for both payment and tips). And they work hard, so offer them a cold drink on a hot day!

This moving company is great.  I used them 10 years ago the first time .  I contacted them again last week.  Awesome and caring movers.  They are nice Chinese people and licensed.  They took care of wrapping my wood furniture and 52 inches tv.   They don't speak fluent English but if you communicate with them slowly it is not a problem.  I Just moved tons of stuff for a 1 bedroom size of apt.  The price was affordable.  I gave them 20%+ tips because they did a great job.  I strongly recommend this company. I would call them again if I need to move in the future.

We used Ga Ler twice in the past year.  First time was from the top floor of apt bldg with slooow elevator on the hottest day of the summer.  They provided a Certificate of Insurance in advance for our co-op board for an extra $80.  They were on time, were generally careful with our belongings, and finished within the estimated time frame.  Although they complained that we had like 4x more stuff than we'd been quoted for (for shame, it's true!), they were much happier when we slipped them a three digit tip.      Even with that, the price was still better than anything you'll find outside.  We liked them enough to hire them again for a 2nd move a couple months later.  Again, solid.  If I had to suffer the suckiness of moving again, they'd be by people.  Like others have mentioned though, you'll need some broken Cantonese at a minimum to communicate.

I used them to move just recently.  I have to say that, while my expectations were low,  they did a great job.  One barrier of entry to booking this company is that they don't speak English well.  They do, however, speak fluent Cantonese which worked in my favor.Anyway, I booked the move over the phone and they were able to quote me a very competitive rate.  They did offer me insurance which I did not opt in for.  They showed up right now time and were able to get everything out of my apartment in about an hour.  They were careful with my boxes and when we arrived at my new apartment, they were able to help me place my boxes in the right places and place my furniture where I wanted.  They did a great job and were friendly the entire time despite the heat and frustration of moving out of a 5 story walk up.  I would recommend them to a friend definitely, but only if I felt that friend had a strong grip on their Chinese.  Language would be a barrier otherwise.

Have used them twice now.Its true they dont' speak english well.  I was born here so have broken Cantonese which they pretty much understood what wanted/needed.Use cash and tip in cash.They can produce COI as needed though it will cost a bit extra.For this most recent experience, they arrived right on time at the pick up point and moved very quickly to get he items from Queens to Manhattan.Pretty much was exactly what I wanted.I moved an upright piano, coffee table, 2 trunks, and some nesting tables.  Cost was very good as the piano had to go up a flight of stairs.  They had the special dolley to move the piano.
