We were extremely happy with But the Hour Movers.  My Boyfriend, his Son and I moved together.  Even with two pick up locations and one drop off, we still got the advertised discount rate.  Josh and Frank were complete professionals, yet very personable. The did the loading with care and precision, and unloading was the same.  They added a third person, Angel, at no extra cost to us. The job was done with 15 minutes left on our hour, and they offered to do more to assist,  My only complaint was the mention of tipping.  While I was unaware that it was customary for this  type of service and company, the website made it clear. For the movers to mention it, it sounded like begging.I highly recommend this company.  Even more so if you get the same movers.

My experience with By the Hour Movers was pretty mixed. They were six hours late and were only apologetic and gave me a reasonable discount for their lateness when I pushed back really, really hard. That said, the guys who did the moving--who weren't the owners--did an excellent job and were attentive and apologetic for how massively their company had messed up. In the end, my analysis is you get what you pay for. These guys were a bargain AND were insured. They fit my budget and I needed to get insured movers for my landlord to allow me to move a heavy antique sofa in. They fit the bill and got my sofa from Cobble Hill to the Lower East Side. Impressively, they got the large sofa up my narrow hallway five-story walk up without damage.The prices they quotes us--and, importantly stuck to--were: +$50/hour/2 guys/van+$15 toll from the Bronx+$45 flat fee for fuel and travel time+$50 insurance papers for our landlord+ tip for the workmen, who themselves were goodHowever, the lateness and how they handled it was downright terrible. They said I should meet them in Cobble Hill at 2pm, but that they would show up anywhere from 2-4pm. That seemed fair to me. They showed up at 8:30pm! This was after stringing me along on the phone starting at 3pm: first it was that they were running late, then it was that they were stuck doing a complex job, then it was that the truck broke down, and finally they weren't even sure they were going to be able to come that night. All the while I had the sofa I needed moved sitting on the sidewalk. Not a great situation--thank God it didn't rain! The worst part is that for all my trouble, the owner wanted to give me a 5% discount.... I had to argue with him very hard that this was absurd. Eventually, I got him to knock off $40 since the " travel time" fee seemed sort of ludicrous given the circumstances. I do think they were honest and that their truck broke down. The move was a bargain. Would I do it again? I'm not sure. These guys aren't top shelf movers, but they also aren't the complete bottom feeders that many NYC discount movers are. Use them at your own discretion.

I saw their offer on Amazon Local & as luck would have it - needed to move about 50 boxes.  Frank, the team leader was right on time.  I couldn't believe how fast they emptied the apartment of boxes!  They were at our new location in less then 15 minutes & brought the boxes up as quickly as they emptied the apartment just minutes before.  I requested business cards from Frank - these are the people to call for small moves - big moves - all moves.  Very impressive.  Extremely fair pricing.

This moving company should be avoided at all cost. They were extremely rude, they showed up 4 hours late, and damaged my furniture.
