Alpha Moving was a fantastic decision.  The entire process, start to finish was very professional and well done.  Alex the estimator came out and explained the process, we discussed everything that had to be moved, and the diffrent options we had in terms of packing, protecting large delicate items, and scheduling.  His estimate turned out to be pretty spot on to what the total charge was at the end of moving day.  The 4 person crew showed up exactly on time, with a great clean truck and got right to work, moving quickly, carefully and with professionalism.  We were there to help and direct them but they really knew what they were doing, and if we weren't available to ask questions, made common sense decisions about things like packing loose items we hadn't gotten to, labeling boxes, cleaning up after themselves, etc. The unpacking process was equally as easy and pleasent, we had just gotten the hardwood floors re-done so I was paranoid about them getting any damage, but that never happened.  Huge, heavy, solid wood furniture posed no issue to them, and not a single mark was left on the floors, which I didn't even think was possible.  Dozens of boxes of china and glass was moved without any incident.  I was asked to check that the truck was empty before they left, and it was.  Nothing missing or damagedThe entire team was curious, efficient and pleasent.

DO NOT USE THIS MOVING COMPANY! The move-in process was nothing like what they described when providing my estimate. The crew began by arriving 2 1/2 hours late.  Then they didn't immediately start work because I had purchased a cashier's check for the amount on the paperwork I was given, which turned out to be incorrect. I went immediately to the bank to get the rest of the money. Then they began work.There was mass confusion as to where items belonged. It was discovered that this happened because of things that happened at pick up, such as unlabeled boxes, and an inventory that failed to designate from which of the 4 bedrooms items such as bed rails and mattresses had come. Throughout the day I was on hand to sort out things as best I could to get items to their proper destination. That turned out to be for naught. At one point a bed got assembled on the wrong floor and in the wrong room.The end of the day was chaotic. It was obvious that it was about to rain and Serge (the leader) kept complaining about not working too many hours and that he couldn't "stay here all night". I'm not aware of what union/trucking rules are and, as a customer, that is not my issue. All I need to know is that the focus is on providing me with good quality service and that my needs are of their utmost concern. I did not get that feeling at all. In fact, I felt as if I was inconveniencing Serge and preventing his co-driver from taking all the smoke breaks he desired. To an onlooker it would not have been immediately apparent whether I was working for Alpha Moving or vice versa.Serge was prepared to leave with my garage full of boxes and all of the furniture not even in the right rooms, let alone assembled. This is  how things ended up:None of the bedrooms were fully assembled--the master bed was missing the top part of the canopy. Additionally, part of the bed was broken and I was told it would need to be re-welded. I had proof from my real estate photos that the bed was in good condition prior to the move. As it ended up, I had to pay a welder $150 to fix the bed.The boy's bed was assembled improperly causing it to be very high in the air. The armoire was not fully assembled and was also damaged. Again, I had proof from my real estate photos that this damage occurred as a result of the move. The icing on the cake is that the box spring for the girl's bed was completely missing. Additionally the door on her dresser (which was slightly broken at pick up) was now completely dysfunctional. This resulted in me having to purchase a new box spring and pay someone to fix her dresser.The armoire that belongs in the master bedroom was left sitting in the middle of the living room floor because Serge refused to move it. He cited that there was not enough room for the hand truck and that the piece was too heavy to lift. Please note that the two other guys were willing to lift it, however, Serge would not let them. Please note that this piece was moved from my previous bedroom downstairs into my storage area by my former nanny who weighs 110 pounds and her male friend. I'm certain that 4 professional movers could have handled it easily. I ultimately ended up having to pay someone to move upstairs for me.No care was taken with my fine china (passed down from my Grandmother), Waterford, and Tiffany crystal. I found boxes sitting on their sides and in other precarious positions when they were clearly marked "Fragile: This Side Up". Several items ended up being broken.When the crew left, there was a pile of garbage in front of my neighbor's garage. It started to rain and a pile of wet mess was left behind that I ended up having to pay someone to come take away for me.The final wonderful thing that happened was that they left someone else's bed rail in my closet for several weeks. It was supposed to go to a home in Texas. While it was just an annoyance for me to have this item in my closet and to have to schedule a time for them to come pick it up, this poor couple in Texas didn't have an assembled bed for several weeks.I came to this company highly recommended by someone they moved locally from Seacaucus to South Orange. She is no longer recommending this company. I would never recommend them, particularly for an out-of-state move.

Our team showed up on time and got right to work. They were careful with our furniture and wrapped each piece in moving blankets and taped them securely. The truck was packed up and on the road in  under two hours. When unloading the guys unwrapped all of the furniture, set it up, and asked where we wanted it being careful not to scratch the furniture or the floors. All of the boxes were put into the rooms we requested and before the guys left they cleaned up all of the packing materials and discarded them. They were very careful, they were fast, and they were very professional. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a reliable and professional moving company.

Worst experience I ever had. Crew showed up and was super slow. Then after packing all my stuff in their truck and driving it less than 10 blocks they held all my belonging hostage and raised the price by a significant amount. They refused to take my stuff off the truck until I paid. Then instead of carrying my furniture there was a guy in each room just folding moving blankets at the slowest pace. They left a huge mess of paper and tape in my garage. They stacked two couches on top of each other causing my one couch to rip. They chipped my bed posts. The crew members were rude.  Because of their slow pace the job took extra long into the night. Horrible experience. DO NOT USE!

This review is long overdue.  Back in 2012 I moved from Queens, NY to New Orleans, LA. The move was very stressful to say the least. I had been in the same apartment for 10 years. It was hot, the middle of summer, and I lived on a third floor walk up.  I used Alpha's storage facility for over a year before sending for my belongings to be moved to Louisiana.  Both experiences were fantastic. They took great care of my belongings. My movers showed up to New Orleans on the exact day as promised. I highly recommend Alpha and I will likely use them again when I move back home to NY.
