Avoid this place!! They are scamming their customers. I went there to drop off a UPS pre-labeled package and a man with nasty attitude told me it costs a dollar and pointed to a sign about how they have to charge for a service that should be free as a UPS drop off location. It's a total ripoff and probably illegal-there's a Staples around the corner to go to instead, good customer service and no charge (which should be a given).

Unfortunately, the staff thinks they should tell women to, and I quote: "next time, wear make-up." Then, they requested that the offended party imagine it was George Clooney who said it! Sexism doesn't begin to cover it. Also, why bring Clooney into it?!? Avoid them at all costs.

This is my "Go To" place for shipping here in the neighborhood and they are always helpful and patient. They are so much quicker and easier to deal with than the PO on 9th St. or the UPS shipping center at Staples. So much quicker, it isn't even funny. I went on yelp yesterday to check closing time and was surprised by negative reviews and meant to come back and right a glowing review. I was very aggravated when I arrived 15 minutes before closing time and they were already closed tight with the gate down. Totally not cool when customers are lugging things over for shipment. This has happened to me a couple of times, so I suggest you call before you go over if late in the day. But still in all a great local business.

I had a really unfortunate experience at this store today and has driven me to create a yelp account and write this review. I visited Active Transport hoping to mail my parents their Christmas gift and, ignoring the fact that the shop had no bubble wrap or sufficient supplies, my package weighed 6 lbs and they wanted me to write on my fedex slip that it was 20 lbs. The box and packing supplies seemed less than an extra 14 lbs so I questioned it. I was promptly confronted by the owner and yelled at for my "attitude" and told to "go on get out. Get out of here" among other explosives. I have never been asked to leave anywhere before and was so disturbed by this experience. I'm a 26 year old student and pride myself in my communication, so when I was sternly told to "get out" several times for what seemed like a logical question, I can only rethink my visit or anyone's future visit to Active Transport.

This place is great. The two dollars Nick charged me for my DHL drop off was well worth it after all the trouble I put him through with all my worrying about my package making it back to England . Active Transport Services is probably one of the last real Brooklyn businesses run by real Brooklyn people. I'll take the --well deserved-- attitude i received there any day over the twits I have to deal with on a daily basis here in Park Slope.
