I don't know how to say this strongly enough.  A. G. Movers is not really a moving company.  It is a scam operation that uses "moving company" as its cover.  We contracted with them to move my daughter from New York City to Virginia, with a couple of weeks of storage in between.  Went through the whole business of agreeing to a "binding contract" which is just part of the scam.  The movers were supposed to show up in the early afternoon Saturday.  As the time approached, she started to receive a series of shifting phone calls explaining that A. G. was not going to handle the job and sub-contracted to someone else.  In one call, a truck had broken down.  In another, they were overbooked.  In another, they didn't work on Saturdays.  Then she started receiving phone calls from a guy named Eddy from Ariana Movers.  (I don't actually believe these are separate companies, they are two ends of the same scam.)  Eddy is basically impossible to understand over the phone.  He had one excuse after another, finally showing up at her apartment at 1:00 AM Sunday morning.  That is when the demands for money, in cash, began.  More stairs than agreed to (not true).  He claimed he charges more than A. G. movers. etc. etc. etc.  Fortunately my daughter had a lot of support, and said no over and over again.  The deal was a deposit of $112 up front, the rest on delivery.  Finally, after multiple threats to leave her stuff on the NYC sidewalk, Eddy gave up and took her stuff and placed it in storage.  It was not clear at that point whether he or AG movers would deliver it to Virginia.  When we called AG movers the next day they professed total ignorance.  Once we agreed to take delivery from Eddy and Ariana, they claimed, A. G. Movers no longer had anything to do with it.At this point we had no idea whether we would ever see our stuff again.  After a week or so we started to hear from Eddy.  He would deliver our stuff to Virginia on August 2, as contracted.  He would be there between 10-11 AM.  Fine.  We scheduled a day off and drove to where the delivery was scheduled.  No Eddy.  Finally we hear from him that he would be there at 630 PM.  He showed up at 830, and of course instantly demanded full payment in cash before he would unload the truck.  He also demanded more than he was owed, neglecting the deposit we had already paid.  When we refused he called "the office", and guess what, it was A. G. Movers, the people who had originally sub-contracted the job to him and presumably lost interest.  A very unpleasant woman threatened us over the phone, telling us we would not receive our things unless we paid cash before the truck was unloaded.  We simply refused, we were ready at this point to let them have the stuff, and we knew perfectly well that once they had our money the demands would simply escalate.  Finally they gave up and began to unload the truck.  Then halfway through, Eddy confronted me saying, you give me half the money now!  I said no, everything stopped for a while again, until they finally gave up and went back to unloading. Finally everything was done except one item, which was presumably in the back of the truck.  Eddy said he didn't want to unload the whole truck to get it.  The item frankly wasn't worth much, so we agreed to give him $50 less than the contracted amount, paid him in cash, and he finally left. The way this operation works is, they get you to sign a "contract" then begin a long process of trying to swindle you out of more money than you agreed to.  We only got out the other side because, 1) My daughter's stuff wasn't all that valuable in the first place, making it relatively easy to refuse them, and 2) We had a lot of people working together on our side, making it somewhat easier to resist all of the hard-sell scam tactics the companies threw at us.Whatever you do don't use these companies!  You were warned.

I had a terrible experience with them. First the sales person (Michelle) pushes to sell more boxes for moving than necessary. I used under 10 boxes and she convinced me that i will have to have at least 30. The estimate was significantly lower and I ended up paying for he moving 60% more! The packing at the origin was smooth but then it turned at at the destination that some the furniture was lost and some was broken. In addition they transferred furniture from a small truck to a large truck that could not fit at the place where I moved to. They tried to get me to pay for the additional transfer of my furniture from a larger to a smaller truck at the destination. I filed a claim within 3 weeks after moving to get money back for the boxes I never used, broken furniture, and missing furniture and they told me that it takes up to 120 days to process the claim. Today is day 115th and I still have not heard from back from them about their decision regarding my claim, note that I called them at least 7 times in the last 4 months to check on the update of the claim. I would not recommend them for moving because it feels like a part time job afterwords to make sure that they return your money to you for the boxes that you have never used, missing and broken furniture. Oh, one more thing, Michelle, who arranges your moving deal is very rude over the phone, so perhaps in order to improve their business, they should first be concerned about a person who is in touch with the customers not only because she up-sells stuff that you will never need but also lacks rudimentary customer communication skills.

Hired these guys to move from the Upper West Side, NYC to Bergen County, NJ. To make it more complicated, these guys had to move us out of a 3rd story walk up!  My fiancé and I couldn't have been more happy with the quality of this company. The woman in the office (Lisa) sent references prior to us paying our deposit, and followed up with us a few days before the move to confirm the exact address, date and time. Another thing I like, was that they took PayPal for the deposit. The day of the move they sent 3 very nice, very polite individuals who showed up early and were very professional.  They helped us box a few odds and ends that we wanted them to wrap, and had the entire truck loaded up within 2 1/2 hours. Another thing I liked was that they took away things that were did not want in our new apartment. Overall I think for the price, these guys are hard to beat!

Worst movers ever. Please don't use them. My book shelf was broken when they delivered. Its been almost 3 months and I am still waiting for my reimbursement. I had to call them every day to ask about my stuffs and they would not even answer the phone. It was very frustrating and it still is.

Run away from this shady company as fast as you can. This has got to be the worst company I've ever dealt with, in all my years. They suck you in with a low price and then rape your pockets along the away. The movers that showed up at my house used so many rolls of tape and boxes it cost me a fortune. I paid an extra fee of $500 to have my motorcycle created and shipped from New Jersey to Florida. My furniture was promised to be in Florida from New Jersey within five days. It took three weeks! During that three week period.  The company called me and told me that the $1200 payment made upon my furniture's pick up was never received.  They requested that I make the payment again. Of course I know I was not going to make a double payment and refused. I was informed that if I did not pay they would not even begin to deliver my furniture.  They told me that they would hold my furniture in the warehouse until payment was received and hung up. I supplied him with copies of my signed receipt from the driver and told them payment has been made. They inform me that the driver worked for a different company and never turned in the money. After days of negotiation, They then deposited $1200 into my bank account and ask me to pay them back again. (what a shady way to do business ).When my items did finally arrive, it was late, and I noticed that my motorcycle was never created and was damaged in transit. When I asked the driver about the damage, he said he had no idea what caused it. When I expressed my displeasure the driver told me I was rude, he was not going to unload my items, and left! They return the next day and unloaded my furniture. But, before he did he asked me for an additional $450 to walk 100 feet as an additional delivery fee. I almost lost my mind. He will not unload my furniture until I gave him at least $100. (reluctantly I paid)The estimate to repair the motorcycle is $5000. They would not talk to me about the damage and sent me to the claims department. After fighting with them, The claims department for over two months, they offered me $44 as payment for my $5000 worth of damage.  YES, you read that correctly!  FOURTY FOUR DOLLARS! Time for a lawyer!!!!!
