I can't say enough good things about my experience with U-Pack. My fiancé and I were moving from Chicago to San Antonio and they made it SO easy. I had spoken to them with a month out of needing to move but because my dad passed away, I had not yet solidified my reservation. When I called them to cancel because it was no longer within our price range, they did what they could to make it an affordable move for us. Aside from being so accommodating, everyone I dealt with along the entire chain of packing and transportation was friendly and helpful. Our stuff was secure, shipped, and arrived on time. We didn't have a place to live yet so they stored our stuff as long as we needed them to for the same or less amount than if we had paid for our storage. When we finally unpacked, everything was safe and sound. U-Pack really made this much easier than we expected it to be. And without knowing our personal circumstances (we did not play the poor and dad passing card) they wen't out of the way to help us on their own accord. I recommend them any day.

In the start it seems really nice and easy process. After the 28' trailer got dropped off in our house in California, we started loading it up. They gave us 3 days to load. When it was time for it get picked up, we called them and they said call us back when it's ready to be picked up. So we started re-arranging our trailer to minimize the space we use. All of a sudden, here comes the guy picking it up. We haven't called, nor they called us that they're picking it up. ABF said that upack just told them to pick it up. They also said that we will get charged half upon pick up and half upon drop off to the destination. We paid extra for expedited delivery, 5days. Now comes the day it should've been dropped off at our new house in Illinois. 12pm, 1pm, 2pm, still nothing. We called the local ABF company and asked where our stuff were the guy said it's. It due until July 14.... we told him we paid extra for expedited shipping to get it to our destination on July 3rd. He kept insisting its July 14. Well we have the paperwork from upack that says July 3rd. Finally called upack and they got it sorted out. Our trailer reached its destination on July 3rd at 3:45pm. Basically, the day is over and unable to call a local company to help us unpack. First day of 3days unloading is gone. There sure is a lack of communication between upack and ABF that needs to be fixed. I recently recommended this company to my sister because she's moving as well, but I guess I have to warn her about the issue. They didn't even give an extension for us to unload, but oh well we'll try to look for a different company next time. So much for worry-free and stress-free, this just added more to our stress. Moving is expensive and very stressful, try not to add more stress to your clients. Not happy with the whole process and with the company.

If you have items that you deem even a little valuable, please find another means to move them. I believe this company may be great for moving heavy equipment or items that you don't care that much about. But if you have items you want to be handled with care, beware, this may not be the company for you. I recently used UPack to move my furniture from Chicago to California. I hired movers to help load the trailer and even paid for $350 in packing supplies. I shrink-wrapped and bubble wrapped every thing as they suggested. I purchased very expensive moving blankets to cover my furniture and I still had significant damage to my furniture when I received it in California. I filed a claim and was told by their Senior Manager, Logistics that "they didn't know what condition I placed my furniture on the trailer". Basically, they were saying your furniture could have been crap when you placed it on the trailer which is insulting to say the least. Incidentally, my furniture was only 90 days old (all the way down to the dishes). Lesson: Do not use this company. Heed the reviews! After all, if you are reading the reviews you are trying to make a decision about whether or not to use UPack. Take it from me, USE SOMEONE ELSE! UPack gave me $200 for over $1200 work of damage to my furniture. They suggested that I simply "paint over the damage".  I paid over $1800 for the move. I have over $1200 in damage. They gave me $200 as a "customer service gesture". You do the math!

Move from salt lake city to chicago. U pack was a great help and also the cheapest option for us. We move our 1 bed room apartment, everything fits in the cube with extra room! Make sure you pack your things to the top!Delivery in chicago is tricky due to parking space so we decide to change to pick up at the terminal. Which was still very convenient (the terminal opens 24 hours as long as you make arrangements, it should be no problem). The staff there are friendly and very responsive. I called u-pack told them what we decided to do and they were very helpful. We got our refunds  (door to terminal is cheaper than door to door option) within a week.We would definitely recommend and use them again for our moving need!!

Although the price and timing was great I would not recommend using U-pack for residential moving. We loaded the truck as tightly and secured as possible but our stuff got to the destination very damaged and dirty. I am not sure how they drove the truck but every single box was destroyed, every piece of furniture was scratched, few broken pieces and a ton of dust all over our belongings. U-pack may be fine for freight transportation, but I will not be using them for my household items. Other companies that specifically do residential moves have vehicles better equipped for household items so they will not get damaged while being transported.
