History

Established in 1985. Two Men and a Truck® started in the early 1980s as a way for two brothers to make extra money while they were in high school. Now, more than 30 years later, the company has grown to over 330 locations worldwide. Brothers Brig Sorber and Jon Sorber started moving people in the Lansing, Mich., area using an old pickup truck. Their mom, Mary Ellen Sheets, developed a logo to put in a weekly community newspaper. That stickmen logo still rests on every truck, sign, and advertisement three decades later. After the brothers left for college, Sheets continued to field calls for moving services while she also worked a full-time data processing job with the State of Michigan. In 1985, she decided to make things official by purchasing a 14-foot truck for $350 and hiring a pair of movers. That $350 is the only capital Sheets has ever invested in the company.

Tl;dr: excellent service, very pleased. When initially scheduling my move from Aurora to Lisle, I shopped around different moving companies and decided on Two Men. Although their rates are on the high end, I chose them for two reasons. The first being their high review ratings, and the second being the fact that most of their competition is based in the city, so I'd probably eat the cost savings in the rate difference in paying for movers travel time. The scheduling process was easy. The movers (Adrian and Brian) surpassed expectations. They were courteous and professional.  I assumed my new place's tight stairs would be a challenge to maneuver with furniture however they made it look easy. The time estimate was fairly accurate (est. 3.5 hrs / actual 4) with the biggest contributor to the time difference probably being my IKEA bed frame being difficult to assemble/disassemble.  That being said they put it together way easier than I did! Overall great experience, I highly highly recommend them. They made what could have been a headache of a day into an amazingly easy morning. Hard to believe moving can be this painless!

I used Two Men & a Truck to move my the contents of a two bedroom apartment from Oswego IL to Troy MI between Christmas and New Years 2016. Overall, I was very satisfied with the moving team and the communication from the estimators and their home office, and would use their service again.  I gave them 4/5 stars because they were middle to high on the price range, but I went with them because they seemed to be the most reviewed (and one of the best reviewed) out of the groups I contacted for service.A little more in depth details:Pro's1) Communication - It was very easy to get a hold of the estimator through both email and phone.  I talked to the guy (Nick) 4 times and we was very prompt in getting back to me if sent him an email.  It was also easy to get payments figured out.2) Scheduling -  They were very flexible in working with me in getting an estimator out to my apartment, and were able to reschedule the actual move date due to some scheduling conflicts on my end.  They were also able to deliver my stuff next day after pick up, which was awesome!  I was also pleased because of how much they were willing to work with me during the week between Christmas and New Years, which can be a pain to have people available.3) Labor - The movers did a very good job.  I packed about 50% of my stuff, but they were able to assist with the packing of the other 50% (understand that this costs extra, but I knew that going in).  I was generally pleased with how they organized everything, and none of the fragile things I had them pack broke.  They arrived at their scheduled time for the pack, and were done an hour ahead of schedule on packing.  I was also happy with the delivery.  They had to use the stairwell for a 3rd floor apartment and were still able to get done in under 2 hours.Con'sCost - I had quotes from 7 moving companies, and they were the 3rd most expensive.  I chose to go with them because of the reputation they had with all of the reviews I saw, and the positive experience my wife had when the estimator came out.  I had the luxury of my new employer reimbursing me for the moving service, but if you don't...that could be a barrier.Delivery - This was a non-issue for me, but it may bother someone else.  They were 1 hour late for delivery because they did not account for the time change.  I suspect that the crew I used mostly works in the local Chicagoland and Wisconsin area, but I don't know that for sure.  Again though, this was not a big deal for me.OverallI would be highly inclined to use Two Men's services again, and I would recommend them for anyone considering using them.

I moved on short notice this past September. This company was easy to book and the quote was accurate, no surprises. Two young men showed up right on time but very hung over. The smell of liquor was over powering. I felt bad, I remember being young. I kept offering water and food. They only accepted the water. Loading the truck was quick. I moved just one town over. Unloading was a mess. Took them over 45 minutes to get one couch in my apartment. They were polite but told me they doubt anyone would be able to get it back out. The last moving company I used, had no issue with the couch. They were also not hung over and not tiny young adults. That might help.  When I was unpacking, I noticed my dresser leg was broken off. There is also a new puncture in aforementioned couch. It's not furniture that's very important to me so I didn't make a big deal out of it. If you are moving expensive furniture, might want to go elsewhere. These kids were very nice and tried their best.

I cannot say enough good things about this company.  We were closing on a condo and had some unexpected issues that changed our schedule and created other difficulties.  Pretty much everybody involved in the whole condo buying process kept telling us "unfortunately...we can't help you" with any number of ways we tried to make it work.  They were the ONLY ones who said "let us see what we can do" and pulled out miracles to work with the changing schedule.  That was just to get scheduled. The service was more than I could have asked for.  They kept following up to make sure there were no other changes and made sure I was aware of what to expect for cost and to make the move go smoothly.  The movers themselves were the most friendly and efficient workers you could ask for.   How they managed to move everything in the two different stages without breaking anything is unbelievable.   They handled everything with a smile.  Even with our more than difficult couch that barely could fit into the unit, they refused to give up and made it work without damaging anything.  Between the two stages, we had approximately 6 different guys.  However, the three names that were most memorable to me were Patrick, Mike and Dylan.  Every single one of the employees were professional and kind but those 3 especially went out of their way at every possible opportunity.  I hope I don't have to move again anytime soon but if I do, they will be the first call I make.  And most definitely will be who I tell anybody else to use.
