History

Established in 1985. Two Men and a Truck® started in the early 1980s as a way for two brothers to make extra money while they were in high school. Now, more than 30 years later, the company has grown to over 320 locations worldwide. Brothers Brig Sorber and Jon Sorber started moving people in the Lansing, Mich., area using an old pickup truck. Their mom, Mary Ellen Sheets, developed a logo to put in a weekly community newspaper. That stickmen logo still rests on every truck, sign, and advertisement three decades later. After the brothers left for college, Sheets continued to field calls for moving services while she also worked a full-time data processing job with the State of Michigan. In 1985, she decided to make things official by purchasing a 14-foot truck for $350 and hiring a pair of movers. That $350 is the only capital Sheets has ever invested in the company.

Excellent Service not sure why others do not like them they were fast on time and very nice.Took great care of my items only had a few things break.  They got me into my new place in short amount of time.  Quote was accurate and they were very helpful.  We would highly recommend them to all our friends. We do not move often but this was the best move ever.  And I hate to move.  Excellent Customer service even when something broke.

Getting 1 star because I cannot give 0. Had a move scheduled for today. When they didn't arrive by 9 (promised 8-9 arrival) I started calling. I called every 10 minutes for two hours and was always promised "We'll check and call you back".  When I finally spoke to Martin, their logistics manager, I was told that my move was somehow overlooked, but they would credit me 1 hour for my trouble. Unfortunately, we had missed our window for the hi-rise service elevator and loading dock. When I tried to reschedule I was told they weren't interested in rescheduling. I've taken a day from work for nothing. I now need to find another mover. And the rent clock keeps ticking. Thanks for nothing. AVOID THIS COMPANY IF YOU HAVE ANY OTHER OPTIONS.

I used two men and a truck and it was one of the worst experiences with a service in my life. I had a 1 bedroom apartment moving about 2 miles in downtown Chicago. They arrived very late, which screwed up the elevator availability for the move (I had told them I had a time slot booked for the elevator) and they took over 11 hours to move everything. The movers were nice, but young and inexperienced. They even sent an extra guy since they were so late! It was clear they sent their "summer crew" for the job. It was so frustrating because if I wanted college kids to move my stuff, bang my furniture, sweat all over my stuff and apartment, I would have hired friends or kids on craigs list. They didn't bring tools, were totally inefficient, and told me they hadn't eaten before the job (mind you they got there late at 11am and didn't leave my new apartment until 11pm that night). Two men and a truck charged me over double the quote... I should not have paid professional prices for completely un professional work. I called and left messages and it was nearly impossible to get a hold of someone. I finally heard back that they were refunding us a few hundred dollars (they charged us $1500 for a 1 bedroom with average number of items and boxes, truly baffling). Stay away from these movers and hire new city or another reputable company. This franchise office of the company is terrible.

I used 2 Men and a Truck to move my things from Rogers Park to a ubox (uhaul) in Evanston; moving to Hawaii!! Anyway, the quote time was fast and pretty close to the cost it ended you being. My two guys were awesome and personable, they worked quickly and carefully. The only thing that didn't make the move was my bicycle since it wouldn't fit, so not their fault. They even managed to get my old ceramics that I was going to toss if the box didn't fit. I really wish there was a tip line on the receipt because they got everything loaded from my 3rd floor walk up in 3 hours. The best part was when it came to Tetris and the ubox, as a former theater tech and drafting guru I can visualize how things will fit, they actually listened! So refreshing and made for a relaxing first stage of my move. I really hope I can find guys just as good when it's time to unload in Hawaii!...I packed my own things so no comment there. They were good with shrink wrap to keep things from damage!

TL;DR - showed up hours late, potentially stole my cc information, lost an irreplaceable piece of my art.Hello -I've held off on writing this in a good faith effort to let Kevin and Jared follow up with me accordingly; however they have not. This operation is broken at the seams. The initial consult with Michelle was the best part of the entire experience as it was pretty seamless.I had a 12p-2p window start time for my move on the 30th. I receive a call at 12p stating that the crew was "held up" at a previous move and would arrive at 3p (one hour later than the window). I made it clear I had my elevator reserved until 5p, and that it was important they made it in time.So three pm rolls around. Nothing. I call them back only to hear that they need to call ME BACK to let me know what's going on. They call back and say they'll be there for 5p now. That's three hours later than the window, and right when my elevator reservation ends. Finally - they show up around 4:30p. I'm extremely prepared so they pull off the move in around 2.75hrs - which should have been done hours prior. Now, here's where it gets messed up: Two Men and a Truck are still handwriting credit card numbers down on their BoLs. What is this, 1989? I felt uneasy about it but I had no choice. Two days later I check my cc statement online and lo' and behold - there's a $35 charge for PIZZA the night of my move - AT A PLACE FIVE MILES FROM MY NEW APARTMENT. I don't use this card for hardly anything. And my credit card company confirmed that this pizza charge was hand keyed into the system - likely taken right off the BoL. Someone has a lot of stones to be that brazen.I call Kevin (the GM) and explain. He says he's going to take it seriously and follow up with me. Nothing. I talk to Jared - he says, "this is a coincidence. I know these guys and work with them everyday; they wouldn't do that." That kind of service right there is embarrassing in itself. I don't care what you think you know about anyone - people do things because they want to; regardless of what you THINK you know about them.So then I discover a few days later that one of my irreplaceable pieces of art is mysteriously gone. I call Jared again - no response. This company is a joke. They'll show up late; potentially steal your cc info; and then lose your stuff. Avoid at all possible costs.
