The Chicago Green Box

First, I'm pretty cheap and frugal so I was hesitant at first in investing money into boxes that i'd only be using for two weeks. My last move I did was actually done entirely with one giant cardboard box that i'd fill at my old place, empty at my new place, and fill again at my old place, lets just say that was stupid and tiring and heavy. For this next move, i figured i should get more boxes but I did not want to have a bunch of boxes that i'd have to get rid of and also gripping and carrying those cardboard boxes is hard and awkward. I have a one bedroom apartment that my boyfriend and I decided to move by ourselves. I came across the green box and ordered 20 boxes which is the minimum amount you can get and it is what was recommended for a 1 bedroom. I didn't think i'd use all the boxes because I've only lived in my apartment for a year but it ended up being the perfect amount of boxes. I got a call the day before i scheduled for my boxes to arrive to notify me of the pickup, so that was great cause i'd almost forgotten as I booked it 2 weeks in advance. Someone came and dropped off the boxes in my second floor apartment for me (thank god i didn't have to carry 20 boxes by myself up the stairs, i am a small human). The boxes are a decent size and can fit alot in them.For reference, I organized all my kitchen stuff into 5 green boxes.  And as a 5'1" woman with no muscles, i was still able to carry it. The boxes are awesome because no taping is required, you can easily open and close the boxes with the flaps and the handles make it easy to carry. They stack very nicely too. The easy opening and closing part was important because i forgot to label my boxes, so it was easy to peek in each box to find and grab my toothbrush which I had accidentally packed.I used my crossover suv car to move the boxes and fit 8 boxes with my seats down, so i was able to make a three easy trips to finish my move. The company called me the day before to confirm the pick up time and location 2 weeks later and that went smoothly. There was no trace of my move or any mess left over after the boxes went away. I was happy and was glad that I gave this rental box service a chance. I hope i wont' have to move again for a long time, but if i do i'll probably do get green boxes again.TLDR; boxes are easy to carry, close, and stack, i'd recommend it.

Another 5-star review, but this time, 60 crates to move a 3BR 2BA. We went on vacation immediately after the move, so opted to pay $60 for an additional week. So much easier for the movers to pick up and stack. Pro tip: masking tape and a sharpie for the contents, and put it on the front and back (not on the top, because it may be stacked higher than you can see the labels).Also, ow, my back.

I had a great experience with the Chicago Green Box - pick-up/drop off was extremely timely and it was so convenient to not have to break down tons of boxes after my move. I recommend to anyone with an upcoming move who wants to be efficient and kind to our environment.One tip - you'll need to buy closures for these boxes (pack of zip ties will suffice) as well as labels (you can use tape too)

Happy to write this business a review after they emailed me the reminder to do so! Was recommended to Chicago Green Box by a friend at work, and now can't stop recommending these to anyone moving around the Chicagoland area. 1 bedroom apartment, rented 20 bins, super friendly and easy pick up and drop off - even were happy to come pick up the bins sooner than expected when I managed to unpack ahead of schedule. Very friendly and great customer service - not to mention just sturdy, stack-able boxes to ease the pain of moving... Highly recommend!

Moving with Green Boxes is one big thing you can do to cut down on the stress of moving. The boxes were delivered a week ahead of the move, giving time to think about how best to pack stuff, then the boxes were picked up a week after the move, which allowed enough time to put stuff away.As others have mentioned, write on masking tape what room you want the boxes moved to, and stick the labels on two sides of the boxes (as they will be stacked), so the movers will know where to put them. Also, I suggest using twine to secure the lids.My plan is to never move again (until I'm the one in a box), but if you have to do it, start here, with Green Boxes. Everything worked just like they said it would, with efficient and polite personnel. Highly recommended!
