I have to admit that these reviews seriously worried me, but our experience was great! I reserved a 9' van a couple weeks before my move - I received confirmation right away and then the week of my move I received another email verifying my reservation. When I came to pick up the van, everything was ready and the check-in process was quick (I had checked-in online, so we just needed to give our credit card). I was given a copy of the receipt and checked that the mileage was correct (per other reviews). Everything on the contract/receipt was right. The van itself was great - almost new, with only about 3,000 miles on it. It was clean and I had no issues while driving. I had the van for 3 days and returned it earlier than expected. I just dropped the keys off and left.Only cons: we initially reserved the van for a 10:00 a.m. pickup and we received an email the day before our pickup that our pickup time was at noon. This wasn't an issue for us at all, but I can see how that would be a problem if people were restricted on time. The other issue was that when we received the final receipt by email, the insurance coverage charge was wrong ($11 more than quoted originally) and so was the rental charge (we were charged for 4 days instead of 3). I called right away and they took care of it immediately and sent us an updated receipt. Overall, our experience was easy and relatively stress-free. Read through the contract and receipt, but you should do that with any business. You might also want to put an earlier pickup time than you actually need, to ensure you have the van/truck when you need it. I would use this rental company again!

Avoid this place like the plague. Rented a truck to move a couple pieces of furniture, and had to wait in line for over an hour just to pick it up. The whole time the guys at the counter acted as if they couldn't care less about any of the customers. When I came back after hours to drop off the truck as per my reservation, the lot was completely blocked off by other vans, trucks, and trailers, all of which were clustered around the entrance despite there being a ton of space available elsewhere on the lot. I had to get out of the truck and push a trailer out of the way with my bare hands just to squeeze the pickup I rented back into the lot. NEVER use this place, not even if it's the last place to rent a truck left in Chicago.

I had a horrible moving experience with this location and UHaul in general. Moving is already stressful as it is without having to deal with poor customer service, lying, and embarrassing rudeness. Please use Penske instead or try the new app Dolly, where I've had much better, more polite experiences. First off, avoid using Uhaul online booking services. Either call or book in person. They changed up my pickup time and service time without notice. This also happened to my sister who was moving in the same day. They made no apologies about this even though I had a specific time that I could move into my building. Second, if you have to use Uhaul, then use only an official Uhaul owned location. The owners at Sunshine we're rude and unhelpful. At one point the owner held up a dirty trash  can in front of my face and he also gave away my truck to another customer while I was on the phone with the local Uhaul office.

DO NOT USE SUNSHINE MOVERS. They are scammers. When I rented everything went fine, until they emailed my receipt. I returned the van at 6:30pm at the latest. The receipt said it was returned at 9:39am the next morning. I drove maybe 30 miles to Hyde Park and back. Receipt said I drove 85. Because of this I was charged almost double.If you absolutely have no other option but to use them, make them check everything in your presence and note it on contracts. Get a copy of everything. Do not trust these guys.

I made a reservation online through UHaul to book a truck for 24 hours. Thank goodness I called after I made the reservation because when I called to confirm (10 min after booking online) and ask for an extension of what I booked the time for  - the only option online was for 24 hours -  they told me they only rent for maximum 5 hours at the end of the month. I said that isn't reflected online as I was already booked for 24 hours so were they going to cancel my online reservation or how would I have found that out? The man then asked for my last name and then hung up on me. I should have read the reviews before booking! I promptly cancelled online and booked a different Uhaul location.Incredibly poor customer service! Uhaul should in no way associate with this joke of a busines.
