Specialty Movers did a great job for us.  it was well organized by one of the owners, David Ortega, from start to finish.  The price was very reasonable too!

After calling around to various companies whom were all booked, I found SM.  David was very nice.  The movers came about 10 minutes early (great) and Ashley looked over everything that needed to be moved.  My move was supposed to take about 3 1/2 hours but it took 5 1/2.  At the 5 hour mark Ashley started to become very irate and kept saying that he was late for his next appointment.  They started rushing and one person was carrying something that needed two people.  Due to one person carrying an item, my wall was hit several times and there are small dings in my wall.  Ashley reassured me that David was good about fixing mistakes made.  Ashley took pictures for David to view.  Well, next my chairs had rips in them from not being properly wrapped during the move.  I could have very well put the chairs in my car if I would have known they were going to rip them.  They also broke my daughter's brand new bike but since it was purchased two weeks ago I was able to return it for a new one.  It is now at the 5 1/2 hour mark and Ashley started using the "F" word and saying shit several times in front of my 9-year-old daughter.  They did not complete the move because he needed to get to the next spot.  My cabinets were left unassembled and a dryer was not moved up to the garage as I had requested.  I contacted David and he was very nice about everything initially up until it was time to take responsibility.  My daughter's pink headboard was also not wrapped and it is now discolored from it being pushed up against something during the move.  David refused to accept responsibility for that.  Long story short, he gave me $60.00 to fix the chairs.  I am out the money for my daughter's headboard and dents in the wall.  David told me that since it was freshly painted that there should be some paint left to fix it.  However, the issue are the DENTS!!!  There is no point to paint over dents!!!!!  And due to me moving into a new house, the sellers did not leave any paint. I will NEVER use this company again or recommend it to anyone.  I have yet to receive an apology from Ashley for cursing in front of my daughter.

Had a friend refer us saying that they did a decent job and that they said "they couldn't afford a bad yelp review since they are just starting out"... Well we moved from an 875 sq ft apartment in the West Loop to our new place 1,5 miles northwest in Ukie Village, both buildings had elevators. The 3 movers we had said that we did the best pre-packing job they had ever seen since we already saran wrapped the crap out of 90% of our things... too bad it still somehow took them 5.5 hours and ran us $850 when we were quoted closer to $600 after they came by for a site visit beforehand. Living in a brand new building we get to see people moving in and out all the time, so I was disappointed to see them making multiple runs with plenty of room left in the elevators and their empty hands. We had an ikea closet storage unit that had a piece snapped off the bottom shelf, the movers put the piece in the top drawer and never said a word about it, didn't really effect it's functionality so we could swallow that. But then after completely unpacking we realized that we were missing a fairly large box that had a blow up mattress in it, something we used pretty frequently for out of town guests, such a bummer. Not what we expected when we hired pros, but whatever, moving sucks and so do moving companies

We used Specialty Movers this past week and they were astounding!  From David coming out to do a free estimate, to Ash and Julian moving everything fast, efficiently and yet still carefully it was a great experience all around.  They wrapped all of our painted furniture and made sure everything was safe and secure.  We had no problems with any furniture or walls getting scuffed and nothing was broken.  Their prices are great and completely worth saving yourself the hard work of carrying heavy furniture up and down all those Chicago apartment stair cases.  Let these professionals do it for you!  They're way better at it than you will be.  Just watching these guys load up their backs and lift heavy furniture like it's made of styrofoam is worth the cost.  I can't recommend Specialty Movers enough and I'll be telling all of my friends about them and using them if (god forbid) I have to move again.
