History

Established in 1880. In 1880, William Reebie founded his moving company with no more than an assistant and a two-wheel cart. A few years later, the first horse drawn carts progressed to Chicago's first motorized moving van, built and designed by William Reebie. Reebie and his van, «The Moving King,» quickly took Chicago by storm, becoming the city's most reliable moving company. In 1928, Reebie Storage and Moving became one of Allied's first five original charter agents. Today, we still stand as Allied's first largest single consumer sales agency. 80 years, we have maintained this valuable relationship with the respected van line.Today, Reebie Storage and Moving Corporate Headquarters are located in Franklin Park, Illinois, with over 400,000 square feet of warehouse space. EDIT:Reebie responded and agreed to pay our claim for the clothing my wife and I lost in our move, as I had mentioned in my original review.  That was my only significant complaint and it has now been resolved.  Our move with Reebie was otherwise painless.  I have adjusted my rating from 2 stars to 4 accordingly.     ***************************************My wife and I used Reebie/Allied for a cross-country move from Chicago to the Washington, D.C. area at the end of last year.  First the pros:* The team that packed our things in Chicago and unloaded them into temporary storage in DC was friendly, methodical, and, for the most part, careful.  * Most of our stuff was packed and handled very well (but not all of it -- see below).* Our stuff arrived in DC right on schedule, as promised. The cons:* All of our wardrobe boxes were crushed at some point on the trip.  Our clothes had been repackaged in different boxes when they arrived.  This probably would not have been a problem except for the fact that we later discovered some of our clothing was missing.* Some other stuff was damaged in transit (i.e., vacuum cleaner broken; cat condo destroyed; one filing cabinet shipped upside down so internal rails were damaged and all papers were strewn about inside, and another wooden filing cabinet arrived in about ten broken pieces; and a few other things).  * The inventory stickers fell off many of the boxes in transit so it was impossible to keep track of what had arrived and what hadn't.

It really pains me to have to write this review of Reebie Allied. We moved from Chicago to Portland OR in Jan 2016 and, after much research, chose them to help us pack and transport our household.  They were more expensive than the others but I thought we would get better service...not so much. We had used another Allied firm 10 years before with excellent results when we relocated from LA, so that was also a factor in our decision.Unfortunately, this time most of our furnishings had to go into storage until we found our permanent home, which we moved into this past weekend. That's when we were able to see all the damage that had been done. I don't know if the fault lies with the packers or whoever loaded the goods on the truck at their warehouse in Chicago but this just shouldn't happen when someone spends over $10,000 on a move. One of our TVs was dropped and has a cracked case, my sewing machine was dropped and is completely destroyed (it was taped back into its case, so they knew they'd done it- still haven't found the pedal and cords). A vintage Eames chair has broken plywood under an arm, 4 of 6 legs on a bookcase were broken off and left to scratch the black finish. The worst thing is that the packers took apart a very expensive dining table, for which we have no reassembly instructions, left all the legs loose and scattered in various spots in our storage unit. We found all the parts but one screw, but had to contact the designer in England who sent us instructions and the missing piece.  I am praying that our artwork survived unscathed- we haven't had a chance to unpack it yet. The only positive note is that in all the boxes of glassware, china, etc.-not a single broken item, yet!I wish we had been able to unpack and examine every item when we arrived, but it was pouring rain and the drivers and the crew that unloaded were cold, wet and tired and wanted to go home. Now it's too late to file any kind of claim. So very disappointed in Reebie and Allied. Buyer beware.

My husband and I used Reebie a second time recently, to move from Chicago to Arizona.  Everything arrived safely, but upon re-installation of our china cabinet in our home, the movers did severe damage to it.  We paid to have special crates made for the glass shelves so they didn't break, so I would have never expected that the movers would create gigantic scratches and gouges when they placed the glass shelving back in the unit.  In addition to the interior scratches, there are dents, scratches, chipped wood and other flaws on the exterior of the unit that show it's been through a rough trip.  The cabinet was in perfect condition before it left our home.  When I contacted Reebie's claim adjuster, I was told that regardless of any negligence caused by the movers, I am responsible for paying the $500 deductible to have a furniture restorer come and fix the damage to the cabinet.  It's been almost a month and I can't even get someone out here to look at it, to give us a quote.  My husband tried to follow up with them after a week and still...no response.  My living room and dining room are still boxed up, until we get our furniture fixed, and of course, that is just adding to my frustration.  If you need to make a damage claim with Reebie, be wary of going through their claim adjusters.  You might just end up having to find your own way to repair and pay for their negligence.

No sign of my shipment 6 days after the close of Reebie's delivery spread.  I have aches and pains all over from alternately sleeping on the floor and an air mattress, and I am missing clothing, contact lenses, and countless other essentials that I have no time or money to replace (just started a new job).  All Reebie has done is offered a measly $100 "gift certificate," though that was 7 days ago and I have yet to receive it. My things were packed on 8/27, and I was given an initial delivery spread of 9/4-9/14.  In the middle of those dates, something came up and I had to be out of town for a few days.  I spoke to a representative, and she said I had two options: (a) keep the current delivery spread and pay for storage and redelivery if the shipment arrived during my absence; or (b) shift the delivery spread to 9/12-9/18.  I was hesitant about getting my things later, but the representative recommended shifting the spread as the best solution.  On 9/17, Reebie told me that my shipment had just left my hometown and that there was no way the shipment would reach me by 9/18.  My employer contacted them on my behalf, and Reebie blamed my date change for the delay.  This is completely unjustified, because Reebie told me 9/12-9/18 would be the new delivery spread.  If they had informed me that delays could result from the change, I certainly would have opted to keep my original dates and pay any storage and redelivery charges.Today is 9/24, and there is still no word on my shipment (or the gift certificate).  I simply cannot believe that Reebie has made no reparations and that they have blamed me for their delays.  Please do yourself a favor and stay away from Reebie.

We had a pretty terrible experience with this company over the summer moving our family from Chicago to Boston. On the Chicago side they underestimated the amount of boxes etc... we had and sent way to small of a truck that they left our condo with our bikes strapped to the front of their trucks and called a cab to fill it with boxes to take to storage.  On the Boston side we communicated the move in dates and had to reach out to them multiple times just to get a window of when they expected to deliver. Communication was less than average to say the least.  When they finally did arrive, they realized they only had shipped 2/3rd's of our belongings and not only that, they had no labor scheduled to unload the truck into our new home. We waited three days for them to get labor. We waited an additional 10 days for them to get the remaining 1/3 of our belongings and again had labor scheduling issues, which of course required us calling them for updates as they once again failed to communicate.  Not to mention that since the load was split they renumbered every box so that there was no way to know/or check and verify against the original listing what made it and what did not. We know we are missing boxes, they know we are missing boxes and not once did they call or have they called with an update, nor did they offer any discount or relief for what was a botched move. Definitely not on the recommend to friends list. Poor communication, follow up, follow through, planning and service.
