Our experience with MiniMoves was an absolute nightmare.

The inidividuals MiniMoves contracted to pickup our move were clearly intoxvated upon arrival. They asked if we had any beer and I’m pretty certain they were sniffing illicit substances in the moving truck.

When our items arrived I immediately found a floor length mirror shattered and a family heirloom chair broken into dozens of pieces. It almost seemed they were destroyed on purpose the level of damage was so significant.

When we finally moved our items from storage into our new home last month, I also discovered our couch was broken as well. So naturally I contacted MiniMoves as I had paid over $1000 for insurance.

Guess what? MiniMoves refuses to honor the insurance and we are left with a broken couch and a destroyed family heirloom.

MiniMoves failed in every aspect of moving our home. Stay away from this company.

MiniMoves was extremely accommodating and responsive to my needs. They gladly worked with me to review all different alternatives and scenarios. The "move" was scheduled with ease; and everything arrived in perfect condition. Everyone I dealt with was extremely helpful, knowledgeable, courteous and professional. I would definitely recommend them, and I will use them again in the future!

To be clear before i am presenting all my points, this is the very first time i am leaving bad yelp review ever. I never do this even the service is a bit unsatisfied cauze i totally understand running business is not easy, but this time, it's just outrageous.Situation: I moved from Chicago to San Francisco. With the referral from friends I picked Minimoves (even they mentioned Minimoves is bad in indemnification and warn me to buy the extra insurance avoiding the situation they met).Quote: To be honest, the quote process is smooth. The sales rep was warmly introduce all the services and process, and be flexible on the picking and delivering date for me. And I bought the EXTRA insurance as he suggested, which the insurance itself costed me over $500. And not surprisingly, he guaranteed all the damages and lost will be payed if any, and he insisted they are very experienced and there shouldn't be any.Pick up: The pick up service is good. They work very hard. But there happens first tricky part, the final price (after they packed everything) is almost doubled the quote, but the volume (number of parcels) is only 20% more than the quote. The moving guy and customer service says they are counting the weights rather than the number of boxes, which is different from what i was told in quote. But following the prices, i still feel it's totally acceptable. Deliver: First of all, the deliver person is not belonging to Minimovers at all. They did a great job of moving everything into my new place. But, there are multiple items been lost. I have about 40ish items in total, and they lost 4 boxes (the medium size), one big luggage suitcase (yes, like the ones you need to check at the airport), and one bicycle. While i can't believe they can loss so many big items, and the deliver person were regretting of accepting the job, they still calm me down by mentioning i bought the full insurance. Insurance: This is horrible. First, they respond very quick, and ask me to fill a list of items been lost. After unpack all the bags and checking all the items (except i know i lost my $3000 wedding suits and other jackets in that luggage), we found out the two boxes of my wife's hand bags has been lost. I tried to recall all the detail info for these bags, find the pictures and the price online to give a reasonable evaluation on these items (which took me over 10+ hours). Finally, i send the list to them and the total value is about $20k (think about i spent $5k for moving). After waiting for couple months (yes, i did type right). Some 'analyst' send me a mail (right, i've been communicating with them all the time with email and phone calls, and they don't even send me a message about mailing me the 'decision'), and the mail says she evaluate the lost and decide to give me a fair payment on $6/pound. $6/pound???!!!! what you can buy for $6/pound? And who would deliver anything only worth $6/pound from Chicago to San Francisco? The entire weight of the deliver is around 2k pounds, that means she think i am delivering $12000 worth items by paying them $5k to do it? If she's not the dumb, i must have to be the one. Following up: I tried to reach them again, and not any sufficient feedback, and they just mention i can find some type of court to make an judgement. While i am picking up the law to pretend myself, i want to alert everybody, if you want to get item lost and be paid by $6/pound while you bought extra insurance, use Minimovers. Otherwise, close the site and use some better services.

I've used Minimoves for 2 moves. 3 of the legs went great. I would have given them 4 or 5 stars if all 4 legs were that great. Plus, they've always given me the most reasonable quotes and stuck to them. Pick up in Chicago: 4 stars for this move because they did forget to confirm my actual move date. They rescheduled for the next day. It was frustrating as I had to take 2 days off work. The movers were great.Drop off in San Diego: 5 stars. The movers were fantastic. Everything arrived in good shape.Pick up in San Diego: 5 stars. I was moving to Boston but didn't have an apartment yet. Customer service was very helpful and everything went smoothly. Boston didn't work out for me. My stuff stayed in storage for just over 7 months as I looked for an apartment and then found a better job in Chicago.Drop off in Chicago in 2017: This gets 1 star. I did switch my delivery address from Boston to Chicago, but the delay in responses was frustrating. I was also switched from Anthony, who had been my customer service representative and was not happy with my new customer service rep. They sent me a delivery range of 2/15-2/24. I was going to a conference on 2/20, so I immediately responded those dates wouldn't work for me. Then they said the warehouse in MA wanted my things out. They wouldn't change the spread. I got an e-mail that said, "I think there is a good chance it will be here for delivery by 19th. You could change spread but this is set for pickup on Monday 2/6. I would not guarantee it but we can check on it middle of next week." On 2/13: I got an e-mail from Kathy that said this: "Hi, ETA is tomorrow, unfortunately will not be delivered tomorrow. Dispatch will call you tomorrow to talk to you about scheduling. Thanks." I requested clarification and she said dispatch would contact me. On 2/13, I got an e-mail from that said, "Hi, ETA is tomorrow, unfortunately will not be delivered tomorrow. Dispatch will call you tomorrow to talk to you about scheduling. Thanks." I requested clarification and she said dispatch would contact me. On 22/14, at 9:30am I got a call saying my delivery was going to be that day. With no notice. Knowing my spread started 2/15, I had rearranged my entire work schedule, pushing all of my meetings and time-sensitive work to be done on 2/14 so I could be more flexible 2/15-2/20. They reminded me several times that I was the one who was going out of town, so they were doing me a favor. I asked what time the delivery would arrive, and they didn't know. The next time I talked to her, she said, "in about an hour."  I live 30 min from work. I then spent 30 min rearranging my entire day and trying to convince my new boss I'm not irresponsible. Then they say they'd probably be there between 12pm and 1pm. The 2 guys who did the move were great. They were quick and efficient. They were helpful and thoughtful. Then, as they were unwrapping my wood furniture, one guy said, "This leg on your dresser was broken when you shipped it, right?"Um... NO.  Of the 4 pieces of wood furniture I shipped, all four were damaged. The dresser had a leg ripped off. The back wood piece of my writing desk was completely split so it is no longer steady and the top is uneven. My chair and nightstand have gouges. Dishes in my fragile boxes were chipped. They also told me I had added 5 boxes and would be charged more. I could count when they arrived. I did. There were no additional boxes. I was told I wasn't charged more though. I am still confused about whether I was charged more or not. Lastly, I was charged again for my storage and was told it was a fee for moving my things out of storage. This company prides themselves on "no hidden costs," but I cannot find a record of agreeing to this charge. That's the only hidden cost I had in all of my interactions though.Follow up: 4 stars: The Executive Vice President gave me a call personally after all of this to apologize and learn more about my experience. I do believe they pride themselves on customer service. I hope they're to more consistently deliver the service I received with the other 3 legs. I also received a settlement for my damaged furniture. It wasn't enough to replace the furniture, but it does ease the frustration I felt. I do appreciate the follow up.

I wanted to provide an update- we worked with the owner of the business after I wrote this review. He called and apologized for the services we were provided. He explained that there are many third parties involved and sometimes communication and coordination suffer as a result. After he investigated our case, we received a check which refunded the additional charges accrued as a result of some of the hurdles we encountered. It was a nice gesture. I feel better knowing their owner cares. It may not be enough for me to return but it's nice to know nonetheless.
