We had a last minute move across the country and we needed to find a reliable moving company with prices that we could afford, Mid Moving & Storage fit the bill.We have moved before, but this was our first time actually hiring movers and moving all of our furniture, etc. across country. Our move was from Chicago, IL to San Jose, Ca. I'm not too sure how we got a call from this company, I think it was one of those many moving sites that I requested a quote from, but I'm glad that they called.I got a call from Ella, and she was fantastic! From that first call all the way up to the end of our move she was awesome. She really is the main reason why we wen't with the company. She gave us piece of mind by going over every single aspect of the move with us. She was aware that it was our first time moving with movers so she explained everything smoothly. She even gave us some tips on moving as well. The main thing I liked was the fact that she was upfront with us. She told us from start to finish what things cost extra, etc. After our first phone call she had a quote for us, and gave us ample time to make a decision. Of coure I was weary about making a final decision, I wanted to look around more and also look up reviews on the company. Surprisingly I didn't find any reviews for he company on Yelp, but I was able to look at reviews on different moving sites, and they have excellent reviews. So, of course we ended up going with them.Here are the details of the move that we experienced, hoping that it can help people get a general idea of moving, and how this company works. Days Before Move:-Go over quote and ensure all items are accounted for on quote-10% down payment for move (ensures quote price)Day Before Move:-Dispatch calls to let us know the arrival time for the movers for the next day.Day of Move:-Movers call 30 minutes before their arrival time.-Movers came in, professional and friendly, and worked very fast to get everything loaded into the van. They wrapped all of our furniture items: couch, tv, dresser, tv stand, etc, And all of them survived the move with no scratches or broken pieces!-*Note, they do charge for extra items that aren't on the original quote and they also charge you for the tape that they use to wrap the moving blankets. You'll need to account for that expense.-Forman goes over the items list, and paperwork with you. -50% of payment dueDay Before Items Arrive:-Mover calls to ensure a drop off time and also confirms the remaining balance.Day Items Arrive:-Forman goes over each item and marks them off the list-Remaining 40% of payment is due. Cash or USPS Money Order Only.All in all. Great company to move with!The only disappointment I had was the fact that I was not aware of the tape that I would be charged for on the day of the move. Other then that, awesome. Movers were very professional both on the day of pick up and the day of drop off. My items arrived in the same condition that they had left! Loved the piece of mind that I had with my items. Ella was great, and I had dispatch's number so that I could get in contact with the driver if need be. But they work really fast! They said our ETA was about 7-14 regular days, but we got our stuff in 5 days. I was totally surprised that our stuff had arrived that fast! I didn't even have time to worry about it!Thanks again Mid Moving & Storage! :)

Bottom line: Mid Moving and Storage is an awful company with rude employees. Based on terrible reviews of this company on Yelp and other websites, I'm shocked that they're still operating. DO NOT use their services.I wish I could give this company zero stars. I actually had to wait a while and cool off before writing this review -- that's how angry/frustrated/upset I was after my nightmare of a move from Chicago to Baltimore. I never would've chosen Mid Moving on my own, but was forced to work with them after my original east coast-based moving company decided to contract with Mid Moving without telling me.The foreman that Mid Moving sent to pick up my belongings was extremely rude. At one point, I asked him a question about how he was wrapping my couch and he said "just let me do my job, okay?!" Completely uncalled for.Be aware that the sales side and operations side seem to be completely separate. When I couldn't get ahold of Daniel in Operations, I called the sales line to ask how I could leave a message for someone in operations. When I expressed my frustration at not being able to reach any human being in operations, the sales girl hung up on me and proceeded to screen my future calls!Daniel in Operations only ever contacted me when it was time to collect money for storage. Otherwise, he never responded to my emails and clearly I had trouble reaching him on the phone. When I finally found an apartment in Baltimore, Daniel insisted that I needed to pay them $200 more to get a small truck to deliver my belongings instead of bringing the 16-wheeler semi-truck to my apartment. When I asked my building maintenance manager about parking a semi-truck in the back of the apartment, he said it was no problem and that semis park in the back all the time due to construction. When I told this to Daniel, he again insisted that he couldn't bring in a semi truck. We argued over this and he also hung up on me and screened my future calls. After all this, they lost 2 of my boxes. I am so furious with them that it's not worth calling them in an attempt to locate these 2 boxes.

Mid moving and storage was 2 weeks late in delivering my storage, and forced me to sleep on the floor for 2 weeks instead of making any attempts to fix their mistake.  After numerous phone calls to their company complaining about their lateness they did nothing to fix their mistake.  Then, they claim that they will return to pick up their leftover debris from your house in 3-8 days after delivery.  It has been over a month and numerous phone calls and assurances from MID Moving and Storage that they will pick up their trash from my house "next week".  It has been many weeks and their trash is still in my house...

I saw the terrible reviews and rating for Mid Moving, and thought hey why not... Dan Smith was always very responsive to my emails and phone calls when I had questions.BAD IDEA.I was involved in an interstate move from Chicago to New York City. In the binding estimate, I saw a line item for a Shuttle Service Fee. Dan said to confirm with my building that an 18-wheeler can fit on the street in order to remove the fee. Not only did I confirm this, but Dan also confirmed with the dispatcher that I would not need the Shuttle Service. He then updated the Binding Estimate to remove the fee. Great! Right?Wrong. The movers called me to tell me they would be arriving shortly and I needed to pay the Shuttle Service Fee or they would not unload my items. Even after showing them the printed copy of the email, the movers held my goods until I paid the fee... in cash. After this, I made repeated emails, calls, voicemails to Mid Moving to no response. and suddenly, Dan was no longer responsive. I also finally got through to the Office Manager who would not issue a refund.Bad business practices. I am in the process of filing complaints to the Department of Transportation and the BBB.Please learn from me (and others) and do not go with this company.

I have filed claims with the BBB as well as the Department of Transportation against Mid Moving and Storage.  The response to the BBB claim was extremely unprofessional and disrespectful.  They still have yet to resolve any claim.  The DOT claim was filed more recently and will post an update pending the outcome of this claim.  Again, and I can not stress this enough, DO NOT ever use Mid Moving and Storage.
