Lets be honest.  The response time was a bit of a turn-off.  However, when all was said and done, my belongings arrived in Los Angeles in pretty perfect condition.  Only 2 guys came to load up the truck in Chicago, but they were pretty quick and efficient.  3 came with the truck in LA and the process was really organized.  I told them where to put each box and piece of furniture.  I had numbered all of the boxes and kept a personal legend which was SO HELPFUL.  That way, I knew what was in each without opening them up and could have the movers put them in the proper rooms. This was my first time using a moving company, and I was extremely nervous yet unprepared to spend $3-5k like some of the bigger companies wanted.  I thought the cost was very fair, and I'd recommend Greenway.

Worst moving experience of all time! I would HIGHLY advise to research another company.Long story short, they seemed really nice and considerate when they were packing up my things. But when all my things arrived at my new apartment, I had realized everything was nicked, scratched, broken, shattered, etc. Any word you could describe, that happened. Once the truck left my apartment with all my stuff in Chicago, they informed me they would meet me in Austin on an exact date. The day before, I called the check in to see if everything was on track, but no one would respond to me. Day of, I heard nothing. Only until a late call to tell me they were going to be a couple days late. Whatever...they finally showed up. And when they were unloading everything I noticed that a majority of my boxes were smooshed, which only to find out the dishes inside where broken. My wood bed frame and coffee table were scratched and nicked, visibly noticeable. And last but not least, my 48' flat screen TV was shattered! Like, straight-up, shattered. You could tell that someone dropped it on the corner and then the glass cracked all the way across the screen. The people unloading said it wasn't them and they couldn't be blamed for it, they were just delivering the stuff. I contacted the company, told them my story and filed a claim. My claim was for well over $2K, but in the end they only credited me back $200. The claim process took almost 4 months to get worked out because no one would email or call me back. It seriously was the worse experience ever and I feel scared to ever use a moving company again.DO NOT USE!!!

Not a great experience, but everything arrived in good condition so I'm thankful for that. At our scheduled time the movers weren't there and after psycho calling everyone for over an hour, finally got a call from Nick they would be at least an hour and a half. When the movers arrived (3 hours late..) they had a truck that was too small. They ended up having to load the truck, drop at warehouse and come back to load up the rest so this took all day. I've never had a moving company charge based on cubic feet, but this company does. I gave all my items over the phone but obviously as you pack you typically have a bit more items than you realize. For us, it ended up being 100 cubic feet which was an additional $800!!! And we found this out as they were packing up. Add this to the stress factor of moving... Our move was from Chicago to Metro Detroit and we were told a 2 day delivery time. They told is they would be to us by noon on Saturday, and that I should expect a call at 9am. When I called at 11am because I had not heard anything, they had not even left Chicago yet. Pretty frustrating to wait an entire day for them to arrive, which turned into 7pm that night. Very annoying but glad everything arrived and in good condition. The only item that took a beating was our grill cover, but not a big deal in the grand scheme of things. They told is they take credit card, but only for the first half. The second half has to be paid in cash, so expect a large lump sum of cash to be spent at delivery....Majority of the guys were pleasant, especially Terry- he was great! Nick seemed pretty condescending to his workers and to his clients.

These awesome gentlemen just left here about 15 minutes ago and I am floored by their job! Chicago to Madison move, given less then a week notice, had WAAAY more crap than we anticipated, and they even threw in some freebees! Price was right and they are so friendly. Thank you VERY much Nick and James for helping us start a new life out here. And best of wishes to you guys too! Cheers.

If I can give these a zero star, I would.I had to find a cross country mover since I was moving from Chicago to the Bay Area. I didn't have a lot of time or good sources for references to such services in Chicago. I stumbled upon Greenway Movers when doing a Google search. As the other reviewer said, the moving coordinator Matt sounds very friendly and responsible when you first make contact with him on the phone. And then it's all down hill from there.First of all is the cost. They charged me almost over $1000 for literally 20 boxes with no furniture of any kind. The biggest of my boxes are not even bigger than a plastic bin, and my smallest was as big as an Amazon box for two books--do you really need $50 to carry that box. Ridiculous fees too -- since I had to clear my belongings out of my apartment in June and I wouldn't have a place in SF until August, I had to ask them to store my things. And they were charging $70 a month while most other storage places charge $40 month. And because their truck in SF could not get into my apartment complex, they wanted to charge me $300 extra to rent a U-haul truck. Are you serious? If I rented a U-Haul truck and moved the stuff myself it wouldn't have cost me more than $50.And then it's the terrible communication skills of theirs. When Matt first scheduled the move with me, he first said they would come between 3-5, and then when I said I can't make it until 5, he double confirmed with me that I would indeed be at my apartment at 5. The next day they called me at 3 telling me that they are already at the apartment. I was completely dumbfounded as 5 was the previously agreed upon time. Needless to say that I missed them and had to reschedule the move, which was set at 12pm the next day. Not only did they not arrive until almost 3pm but Matt was also impossible to reach on cell phone as I anxiously called him for status updates. When I threatened that if they do not arrive by 3:30 I would have to drop their business, he said "if you have to leave then leave." That is a great attitude for doing business. Please do not choose them for your move.
