Domestic Junk Service

We hired Domestic Junk Service to finish the demo our third floor apartment, a project I tried to tackle myself but quickly decided need to be handled by the experts.  I was impressed with their promptness - I sent an email through their website on Thursday and Helen responded in less than 30 minutes, Helen and Andy then came out for an estimate for Friday and their crew was ready to work on Monday morning.  The crew worked efficiently.  They finished the demo in four days, hauled away all the debris, and left me with a broom-clean blank slate to begin the renovation.  We had to change the scope of the project and pricing once we discovered that there was blown-in throughout the ceiling space but they were eager to handle the extra work and did so at a fair price.  The crew followed my instructions, and they asked when they had questions about whether to keep or demo something, rather than making an assumption.  As with any project of this size, there was a minor issue or two that arose, but they were fixed promptly by a call/text to Helen. The pricing was very reasonable, below what our contractor wanted to charge.  We will have further demolition and junk removal as we complete our renovation, and will not hesitate to call Domestic Junk Service again.

Called this morning and scheduled an appointment for noon. Was told to text her the address and she would give me a call when they are on the way. I drove all the way from downtown to the far southwest suburbs and have been sitting here since 11:30 am waiting. No one has showed up or called. It's 1:40 pm. I've called multiple times and the number keeps saying the person cannot be reached. Very disappointed. Won't use them again. Wouldn't recommend. The worst part is now its so late in the day that I probably wont be able to find another service to come out today so i'll have to schlep back out tomorrow to actually get it done by someone else.

Wow - talk about a HORRIBLE experience.  I called this company to come out to move a 3 bedroom condo from Evanston to Niles, IL.  They were scheduled to come out Wednesday but came unannounced a day earlier.  That should have been the first red flag......The price for the move was agreed upon much earlier in the week, Sunday - when they sent out one of their guys to come and see what needed to be moved.  BUT when they showed up on Wednesday the price all of a sudden was increased.  We decided to stick with the original price that both parties agreed upon (meanwhile as we are discussing the price they are moving some things out).  The one mover said "i'll think about the price" and left.  We were under the impression that he went out to the truck to discuss this with his boss.  Not the case, they just got in their truck and left.  And they left the stuff that they started to move out of the condo by the elevator.  I was left to haul all the stuff back into the condo/  To say that they are unprofessional is not even close to describing this company.  They wouldn't even pick up the phone afterwards when I tried to contact them.  Hence they get this 'wonderful' review.If you are in need of a dependable, trustworthy moving company this is NOT IT.

The crew from Domestic Junk Service just did some demo work on my kitchen and family room.  They were very fast, safe, clean and priced well.  I was very happy with their work and will hire them again if I need any demo work or junk hauled.
