CRIMINALS!!!! CRIMINALS!!! CRIMINALS!!! They need to be arrested, investigated, closed down, prosecuted and sent to prison. Do NOT use them for your move. We signed a contract, and when they arrived to pick up our furniture, they loaded it up, and THEN wanted to charge more per cubic foot. We did pay a little  bit more since we did have more boxes. We were assured our furniture would arrive by March 31.They kept saying it was loaded and on its way. However, it finally got here toward the end of April. They rarely answered their phone when we called. I am convinced they recognized our phone number and quit answering. We began calling from different numbers just to get them to answer. When they delivered our furniture, they insisted on cash for the balance due. What is this damn company anyway? Underhanded?? (I would say yes). Trying to hide from the IRS?? (I would say yes). I had a cashier's check for the balance and almost had to ask for an act of Congress to get them to take it. In the initial negotiations, they said the final balance could be paid by cashier's check. Finally, these criminals stole the box with my jewelry box in it. The box itself and the jewelry had great sentimental value to me. The jewelry itself was worth nothing. However, I would not trust these criminals with anything!!! I was so upset that my jewelry was gone!!!! I cried and cried and cried. Amazing, isn't it, that only one box was missing and it just happened to be my jewelry!!! Again, the people at Apex Van Lines are petty criminals, and please do not trust them with your belongings!!!!

DO NOT USE!! DO NOT PUT YOURSELF THROUGH THE SAME TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE WE HAD! Terrible company involved in broker scams.  We used National Moving Group (feel free to also read my terrible review on them!) and they outsourced us to Apex.  None of the fees, prices or contract details matched between the 2 companies and when we tried to contact both of them to figure out what was going on- they would just fight, disagree and then get mad at us in turn.  The drivers they used were disrespectful and rude.  National told us we'd be charged by weight, Apex told us we'd be charged by cubic square foot.  National told us a bunch of specific fees and up charges were included in the pricing, Apex told us all of the fee were additional in the end.  We were told our things would arrive in 7-13 days.  They arrived on day 14.  The drivers added their own fees in the end as well. In Chicago we were told they wouldn't do more than 21 stair steps, in LA we were told they wouldn't do more than 7.  Is 7 even a full flight??  Each fee was $75.  We were also charged a "long carry" fee in LA because the driver had to park on the opposite side of the street from the apartment.  Literally just across a small neighborhood street.  But we were charged for a "long carry".  Then- the driver didn't even help the 1 mover he brought.  He made him do everything himself AND my roommate had to help him move a large couch!! Then the mover asked me to buy him a gatorade!  He wasn't joking.  I told him to ask the driver who now had $75 cash in his pocket from his "long carry" fee even though he wasn't carrying shit.  Finally, we were told that large things like our kitchen table that had been taken apart in Chicago would be put back together in LA.  It wasn't.  Upon unpacking (we aren't done yet- will update if anything is broken) we discovered the movers packed all kinds of ridiculous shit we didn't ask them to- we found an entire box of just packing material.  Glad we paid for that to be moved!!! Overall we paid 3 times the amount we were originally quoted.  Apex and National were never on the same page- they were both just interested in their own money getting to the bank and could care less about the client.  The Apex contact was rude, the drivers were rude and none of the original contracts or promises were fulfilled.  Terrible experience that contributed to an already highly stressful cross country move.  Plenty of moving companies to go around with higher ratings and cheaper pricing.  Put these people out of business!!

DO NOT GO WITH THIS COMPANY!! They deserve negative stars. They charged us more than what was quoted mid move! They also smashed several boxes and cracked one of my end tables. They broke dishes and lost a couple of our boxes! We called them and they give us the run around and say they'll call back but never do. I lost a very valuable picture my father gave me before he died when I was 16. I will never get it back. Go on to the next company.

I used Apex for my move, the initial part went OK. The company was very eager for my business and they picked up my stuff from my one bedroom apartment in under two hours (three guys were helping). This was on May 7. They put my stuff in storage for free since my move-in date wasn't until May 26. I was aware that they give themselves 3-21 days to get stuff out to long-distance, and the hope they give is that they're generally early on that estimate.I did not receive my stuff until June 20th. The nearly month waiting time isn't the worst part. Two guys showed up and they couldn't fit their truck into my apartment complex parking lot. So I had to pay an additional $150 for them to do a "long move". A few things arrived damaged: broken wheels on my chair, broken floor mirror, cabinet shelves missing, and various scratches on furniture. This isn't the worst part either. As the movers left, I started to go through my boxes. The stuff seemed to be moved around, and my organized boxes were full of random items. One box for example had a single shoe, a mess of cords and wires, one game, one pillow case, one book, a pair of jeans. They were also covered in dirt. Most notably, game controllers had dirt specifically where you'd place your fingers to play. I did not pack my stuff messy, nor caked in mud. I found a piggy bank that was completely emptied and left open in one of my boxes. And after going through everything on my list, my entire box of video game systems was missing. Someone at some point during my move went through my stuff, picked what they wanted, and repacked it.It took over a month to get a resolution on my video game systems. I called almost every day and got the run around over and over again. They ended up "finding them" and after about two weeks. I tried to have them ship it back to me, but I had them deliver it to a friends' house back in Chicago b/c they clearly didn't want to pay the shipping fees for their own mistake. When I got back to Chicago, the video game systems were packed differently, outside their original boxes, and one system was in a backpack...that WASN'T mine. They gave me someone else's backpack that had their paperwork in it.I cannot recommend enough to stay away from Apex. They are a horrible company that not only took a month to deliver my stuff, but delivered my stuff dirty, and used, and if I didn't fight, I never would have gotten my video game systems back. Dishonest and very sketchy!

AVOID. Don't even think about it...It's hard to know where to begin with Apex...I would summarize by saying that working with Apex was much more like a hostage negotiation than a cross-country move. Except in this case getting the hostage takers to receive or return phone calls was much more difficult.First I will say that we worked with a broker to coordinate our move, a mistake we won't be making again. It definitely made the communication much more difficult. Here's what we experienced:1. We showed up at our storage unit the day we were told Apex would be picking up our stuff. They never showed and when we finally talked to someone we were told that they wouldn't be there until the following day and there's nothing they could/would do about it. They claimed to have tried to call the previous night to confirm the pickup but we never answered, even though we planned our evening so we couldn't possibly miss this very important call we'd been waiting on for weeks.2. When the drive arrived to pickup all of our items he hit us with a bill that was more than 2x what had been quoted even though our contract EXPLICITLY said that he could do no such thing AFTER the truck had been loaded. According to the contract any adjustments in price had to be quoted and signed off BEFORE the truck was loaded. We had no choice but to accept the charges because they'd already loaded the truck.3. Originally we were given a time frame of 3-5 days for our stuff to be delivered to our house. When we called the movers the evening after our items were picked up to discuss the extra charges the driver charged us we were then told that it would be 7-21 days before our items would be delivered. The manager suggested that it would likely be 7 or 8 days, which didn't happen, more on that later.4. We called MANY times fearing that we'd never see our stuff again to try and get an estimated delivery date. Every time we called we got no information. After two weeks we were still being told that our check hadn't cleared yet even though a week previous we saw the funds leave our account. They still insisted that they wouldn't schedule a delivery until the funds had cleared.5. We had several discussions with them regarding the breach of contract with the driver asking for more money after loading the truck and never got anywhere. They clearly had no intent to honor the contract they had setup and didn't seem to sympathize with our situation at all. Eventually they gave us a $150 refund, a far cry from the $1500 refund they owe us.6. Finally on around day 18 we had a delivery date that would put them here on the 21st day, however the driver didn't actually arrive until the 22nd day.I can't say enough about the driver, he was definitely a happy ending to an otherwise MISERABLE experience. He was obviously contracted by Apex and didn't have any good things to say about them either.I would NEVER, and I mean NEVER hire Apex again. They turned what should have been a very fun experience moving across the country into a complete nightmare. It was our first experience with movers and we're very hesitant to ever hire professional movers again because of this experience.
